BEFORE: Kacey Barnfield has stormed onto the BBU scene back in the summer of 2016 when she knocked out Brooke Vincent and Natasha Hamilton but has found herself searching for proper opportunities ever since. That's the cardinal sin of all free agents around the league that usually gets cured when another unsigned prospect accepts the challenge. That's indeed the case with Sara Tommasi who gives it another try here tonight despite racking up a total of five rounds in three previous attempts. BBU TV's Georgie Thompson reckons the Italian stunner might well be the most hittable bantamweight available but the grass is never greener on the free agency side so Kacey has no reasons to complain about this match-up.

Kacey Barnfield wears a white bikini set with vertical blue stripes and blue gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a custom ponytail. Sara Tommasi wears a red bikini top, black knickers and red gloves. Long dark brown hair wrapped in a loose bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Kacey powers ahead with a solid jabbing drive as she tries to dissect Sara's infamously vulnerable guard but the Italian holds off the initial charge and begins to stack up punches straight up the middle keeping her British opponent honest during the opening minute. The back & forth nature of this exchange continues into the second minute when Sara finds more precision and snaps Kacey's head back to draw a significant boost of support in the Cardiff Arena audience. Barnfield eventually tightens up the defense but only matches the older girl's production and the round is surprisingly even with the North Londoner looking extremely rusty. Tommasi maintains the aggressive approach during the final stretch and hauls in a really vicious hook on the brow ridge that wobbles the Brit back to the ropes and that might have been the best we've seen from the Italian in BBU competition to date!

Round 2:
Barnfield's hardly bothered with that sluggish opener and she stalks Tommasi in close range as the bout takes a classic slugging path which comes as a bit of a surprise here. Sara barks in her efforts as she increases the work load but Kacey's guard hits another level and the Italian struggles to make it count before getting trapped in a belting combo to the body. The switch downstairs opens the desired holes for the North Londoner to attack and she stacks Tommasi up on her heels; she clobbers the exposed ribcage so frequently the older brunette has to yield real estate but the punching resistance has always been a major problem for Sara so it's no wonder she disappears behind a tight earmuff on the two minute mark. Kacey drives her butt-in-ropes and keeps wrecking her to the body until the aching Italian drops her cover for good and allows the Brit to cash in with a proper head-hunting flurry. Uh-oh! Sara's knees begin to buckle deep into the final minute and she barely hangs on as Barnfield runs away with the action landing unanswered series on both cheeks topped by a nasty left cross on the mouth.

Round 3:
Sara looks a little less comfortable after soaking up that nasty drive but she can't find respite in mid-distance as Barnfield squares up to her and delivers another cross-hooking route that dissects the high guard on the spot. Tommasi gets nailed on the nose a couple of times and bends awkwardly to the side with her gloves going south, Kacey has a clear shot at the vulnerable rival and SLAMS another cross on the brow ridge THAT SENDS THE OLDER BRUNETTE SPAWLING DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! That was too easy!!! Sara's woeful defence comes to the fore one more time but she manages to beat the count at seven. The only problem is, Barnfield has smelled blood here and jumps into a trigger-happy assault that tears into Sara's face and drops her butt-in-ropes in a hurry. The embattled tourist tries to hang on but she can't even lock a clinch here and gets pounded into stupor with Kacey scowling in her efforts to put her away for good. The relentless pressure is more than enough to break Tommasi's resilience WHO GOES DOWN IN A HEAP for the second time less than thirty seconds after making the original recovery. And she remains down on her left side with eyes closed this time. KO3 Kacey Barnfield!!!

AFTER: There's some confusion whether Kacey would like to be called by her professional name (Clarke) but in the end, it doesn't really matter. What matters is winning and the North Londoner ticked that box with room to spare despite a slow start. She vows to target the likes of Hannah Ware or Heida Reed in the new year so we can expect more free agency fireworks from the intriguing talent. On the other hand things simply don't get any easier for Sara who remains rooted to the 120 lbs division cellar and might just be the most hittable fighter across all of BBU now.
