Intro: A hometown homecoming for both fighters tonight, the O2 arena sees a fight between singer Dua Lipa and supermodel Cara Delevingne. Dua is 22 years old, stands 5'9 and holds an unbeaten record of 3 wins, all by knockout since her debut last November. Cara is 25 years old, stands 5'8 and holds a record of 2 wins, both by knockout with 4 defeats, those all in the FCBA as this is her BBU debut.
Both were interviewed at their boxing gyms they were training at, Dua smiling widely as she said "I must be dreaming, I was the most streamed star last year, I have the most nominations at the NME awards, I am just speechless" She changes the subject "my boxing career so far has also been quite a star and to get a big showdown with Cara is a dream, I've seen her fights; she can certainly go in that ring" "But she is going to learn why I am pushing forwards to the top, I am a big hitter and I am going to swing for the fences as they say" winking as she finishes up and goes to train. While Cara looks cool as she sits to speak to the press, telling them "Dua certainly has looked the part right? She is unbeaten and looking to the stars right?" With members of the press nodding. "The fact of the matter though is that dreams are just that, so when I step up to Dua, knock her on that fat arse of hers, I want to see her cry; admit that she isn't the woman she thinks she is and that I'm the better woman in front of our friends and families" sternly says Cara. Finishing with "I need to find extra work, so this place will be my second home, I am going to show you all what real class looks like and you can thank me later when I become the lightweight champion" marching off to go train herself.
Fight night; out comes Dua wearing a light blue sports bra, trunks with white strips down the side and blue gloves and shoes, her hair is in a simple ponytail. She bounces on her toes as she heads to the ring, a big smile on her face as she gets a loud roar from the crowd, before she steps into the ring and bows to each side of the ring. Now out comes Cara, she has her best friend Suki Waterhouse with her, both smiling and chatting as they head to the ring, with the crowd starting a duelling chant already for both fighters. Cara is wearing a grey cotton sports bra, matching shorts, with black gloves and boots, while her own hair is braided for battle. Stepping into the ring; Cara bounces on her toes in her corner, getting limbered up for the fight with both girls scowling across the ring at each other with no hint of love in those eyes. Brought to the ring centre, the girls square right up to each other, touching foreheads as the referee reads the instructions to them and the crowd is going nuts for these two. Asked to touch gloves; they swipe them together before jogging to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1: Both fighters come out up on their toes, circling as they trade stiff jabs towards the others face to test out the others reflexes, catching glove though as they go. Cara is surprisingly to some the first to push the tempo, dipping under a straight to land to the body of Dua with two punches to her sides. It's the slightly older fighter who seems to have the edge, slipping in and out of range to land on the face and body of Dua, who is tightening her guard more. Allowing Cara to work more freely, slamming her punches into the guard of Dua to drive her back, but Lipa parries a straight and counters with one of her own to the nose of Cara. Dua shoving her way forwards to trade with Cara in close, both girls letting their hands go, the crowd roaring the girls on as they slug it out. Cara gets caught with a left cross that knocks her back a step, Dua showing her power late on in the round to shove the model towards the ropes. The bell rings with Cara staring hard at Dua; the girls each having top moments in the round, maybe Cara taking. Suki is definitely sure that Cara won it, patting her on her back and telling her "this bytch is no where near your class babe!" With Cara just smirking.
Round 2: Back out they come; Cara moving around Dua as she digs her punches into the body of her opponent, trying to stick and move to keep Dua guessing. Dua missing more often now as the fighters circle, with Lipa soon being stuck on the centre of the ring, with Cara moving side to side on the outside. Till Dua is looking to step inside to try to force Cara back against the ropes, she misses with a straight though and takes a right across her cheek to make her step back. This time Cara pushes forwards as Dua is stuck behind her guard, while the supermodel throws a flurry towards her head, smacking off the gloves and forearms of the bigger fighter. Dua is able to shove Cara back to open space up, with Cara settling back on using her speed to control the tempo of the fight, forcing Dua behind her guard with her jab snapping off it. But Dua parries a jab and just misses with a right hook as she shows a little frustration at being bullied by Cara, who lands a hard right to the body of Lipa as she slips around her. Late in the round; Dua does start to make some headway as she drills a few straight punches into the face of Cara as they trade punches at midrange. Till the bell rings, with Cara looking cocky with her smirk, knowing she definitely won that round and having Suki ready to wash her down of sweat. While Dua whose had it easy so far in the ring, is looking frustrated as this looks to be her first real test of her career, looking to her coach for advice on what to do.
Round 3: Dua looks to work more urgently; getting in close to Cara early to trade, she's clearly looking to stay in tight to Cara as the fighters exchange digging punches to the others body in tight. Till Cara manages to slip an uppercut though to knock Dua's head back and allows her to push the singer onto the back foot with several punches scoring off her face. That puts Dua on the defensive; back pedalling as Cara slams punches into different targets to try and open her up to bigger punches. Dua herself looks to be gritting her gumshield as she swings out of her guard with wild right hands that ward off Cara, but only waste energy. Cara waits and steps in with a left that digs through a gap in her opponents defences to knock her head back and follows up with a right cross to knock Dua onto the ropes. Both fighters trade hard punches as they look to control the fight, a straight punch to the nose of Cara opens her up to a left cross, showing Dua certainly has a lot of fight in her. Cara forced to retreat as Dua has too much power and energy to take her down right now, just continuing to fight in a skirmish style by darting in and out of range to land to the body of her opponent. Who as the bell rings looks more frustrated, Dua banging her gloves together as she heads to her corner, trying to clear her head as she goes with her coach washing her face as it starts to mark up. While the other corner looks much more relaxed, Suki wiping down her friend and continues to praise her on her strategy, she gives her a playful slap on her backside as Cara gets up ready for the round to show how relaxed they are.
Round 4: Coming back together, again Dua doesn't seem able to match the speed of Cara, who moves in and out of range at free will early in the round. The older fighter is looking to keep targeting the body of Dua, bring her hands down so she can crack her up top with a big punch. Problem is Dua isn't falling for it yet, letting Cara pick away at her abs, with the singer more interested in Delevigne coming in close so she can smack her. It's Cara though who is controlling this fight, bashing away at the body of Dua with three short sharp punches, before trying to step back out of range with the sound of Dua gasping music to her ears. Dua though pushes through the pain to keep the distance close, slamming a straight to the top of Cara's head to knock her back a step and follows with a left cross. Suddenly the action is starting to turn as Dua sticks more closely to Cara, leading to the two trading more often with Cara continuing to aim for the body, finding herself though being forced back as her head gets clipped by rights and lefts. Dua catches Cara coming in with a right hook that pushes her onto her heels, with the singer driving forwards with a barrage of punches that Delevigne needs to tighten her defences to block. When Cara's back hits the ropes, she now comes firing back as the fighters go toe to toe with seconds left in the round, the duelling chant ringing out around the arena as the fighters battle it out. The bell rings with that cocky smirk disappearing from the now marked up face of Cara, the fighters exchanging a venomous stare before heading to their corners to be cleaned up. Sitting on their stools, both are being told off their corner teams to fight more smarter, Suki in Cara's corner tries to continue looking all smiles for her friend but knows that she is truly in a fight now.
Round 5: Cara is up and looks to get back in control of the fight; digging a few punches into the abs of Dua as she moves around her. Dua continuing to harass her though back with straight punches up top, leading to Cara getting frustrated and trading with Dua in more tighter. A right cross catches Cara across the top of her head, forcing her back a step and Dua snaps her head back with a follow up straight that pushes Delevigne back further. The momentum seems to be shifting now; Cara tries to move into space to reset and get back into gear, except that Dua is now starting to really get her punches to land cleanly through the guard of her opponent. Cara is able to duck a right and steps inside to land an overhand right to shove Dua back a step, now it's the model whose getting into the face of Dua to force her back towards a corner. But Dua uses her left forearm to shove Cara back, landing a right to the cheek of Delevigne WHO STUMBLES BACK A FEW STEPS! Cara retreating and covering up as Dua presses her backwards with a flurry aimed at her head, the punches bouncing off the guard of Cara though who once the bell rings not long after looks relieved. While Dua looks annoyed as she heads back to her corner, this the first real time she's struggled to knock out an opponent, with her coach telling her to be patient. In the opposite corner; Suki using a sponge to wash down Cara and hopes the cold water will waken her friend up fully after she was rocked, if Cara thought the BBU was going to be easier to fight in, she made a mistake it seems.
Round 6: Out come the fighters to the ring centre; Cara seems to be OK again as she gets back to fighting on the outside. But the spring in her step seems to be not there as it was; meaning that she is getting caught more often as she tries to slip to the inside. A straight catches Cara on her nose making her yelp, as she steps back the cameras catch that blood is coming from her nostrils. Dua lands a left cross that pushes Cara back another step, the singer starting to pound Delevigne back onto the ropes. Cara covering up as Dua is on top of her; throwing punch after punch into her guard, till Cara is able to clinch up with the fighters grappling on the ropes. That's till the referee splits them up, Cara moving into space but Dua is back at her with a straight that knocks Cara back again. Dua finishes the round strongly as she keeps Cara struck on the defensive, beating her back onto a set of ropes as the bell rings to end the round. The fight looking a complete 180 on what we saw in the early rounds, with Dua now the dominant fighter; something her coach points out as he prepares her for the last remaining rounds, she is starting to breath a little heavier as this is the longest fight she has had so far. While Cara is wiping the blood off her nose; Suki is trying her best to get her friend fixed up for what's coming up, Cara stares angrily at Dua, wanting to rip her head off.
Round 7: Both fighters start off trading at midrange, single punches as they measure each other up for a bigger punch. Dua misses with a left cross, giving Cara a chance to slam a right for her ribs, but she misses with an overhand left punch and nearly clashes bodies. As they step back, Dua surprises Cara with an uppercut THAT ROCKS THE MODEL BACK, CARA'S HANDS DROP AND A LEFT AND RIGHT HOOK SWITCHES THE LIGHTS OFF FOR DELEVIGNE! The referee kneels and checks out Cara; he stands up and waves the fight off as Cara as clean knocked out by Dua!
Winner Dua Lipa KO Round 7
After: A good test for Dua that showed some of the things she needs to improve on, the winner flexing her arms but relaxing on the ropes as she feels the fight. While Cara is being woken up by the ringside doctor; once she splutters awake, Suki and her fans in the crowd are relieved that she doesn't look in too bad a shape. Cara is holding her jaw as Suki kneels down and hugs her, taking the blame for Cara losing, but Cara knows it's her own fault what happened and stares at Dua, knowing she had her on the ropes early on. Meanwhile Dua bumps a fist with her coach, looking slightly relieved she pulled through but knowing that she needs to continue testing herself to get better.
The girls head to the ring centre for the final announcement, with Dua getting her arm raised and Cara waves her over for a hug, which Dua agrees. Once they embrace; Cara whispers to Dua as the crowd cheer "you know you were lucky right bytch" with Dua smirking in reply. Cara leaves the ring with Suki helping her, the girls chatting about where to go to drink the night away and forget this defeat. While Dua just laughs thinking of Cara's words and celebrates in the ring with a lap of honour, the crowd chanting her name as she goes and this year looks to be a massive year for her like last year.
