Denise van Outen vs Kate Lawler
(BBU TV vs BBU Independent)
(6-8, 6 KO vs 3-2, 3 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: After sitting out the 2017 season Denise van Outen returns to boxing action tonight against fellow TV personality Kate Lawler who remains a controversial figure both in and out of the ring. While van Outen holds a well-documented grudge against Christine Bleakley, she still dismisses Lawler as a "vile bytch" during a heated pre-fight press conference where both women almost come to blows over van Outen's BBU TV lead anchor status. Kate claims she could punch both Bleakley and van Outen out with one hand tied behind her back however that comment only plays to her controversial image and quite frankly makes her public enemy number one among the BBU TV entourage. While Lawler usually meets the excitement demands, neither Kate Abdo nor Anna Woolhouse want to see her victorious tonight!

The bantamweight fight scheduled for ten rounds takes place in the York Hall, Bethnal Green which makes the London-born Kate a crowd favorite. She wears a red bikini set with white trim and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a loose ponytail. Denise van Outen wears a black bikini set with pink trim and pink gloves. Long blonde hair straight.

Round 1:
There's just no way Kate allows Denise to settle into this fight and the BBU TV knows it but she can do little about Lawler's gung-ho approach that destroys the older woman's high guard inside the opening minute! It's hammer time for Kate who buries the fellow blonde under a proper barrage and backs her into the ropes much quicker than the entire York Hall anticipated! Denise has scored some fine wins during her up & down career but she hasn't faced so much wrath in such a short period of time yet. Her footwork skills are also mediocre at best and this allows Lawler to pin her into the ropes and simply smack the living daylights out of the immobile opponent! Ugh! Kate Abdo is basically lost for words in the booth while van Outen can only blatantly clinch herself into safety after her weak overhand response makes Kate laugh out loud. The charging Londoner still sticks extra leather into Denise's tummy and shouts at the ref to leave her alone as she will "destroy that bytch mentally before she f###$ her up". Suddenly we enter the grudge territory and one can only wonder if van Outen signed up for that script? The bell halts the one-woman show and Kate simply thrives on the Bethnal Green's crowd response while Denise stares down at the canvas with utmost disbelief in her eyes.

Round 2:
More hard pounding from Kate who storms into a jabbing barrage that immediately puts a stirred opponent on her toes. Denise tries to slug it out in close range, a dangerously suicidal tactics according to Kate Abdo, but with no footwork game to speak of, there's just no place to hide for the Essex veteran here. She survives the opening minute with only a small cut above her right eye but Lawler then lets it rip to the body and catches the stubborn blonde off her comfort zone. Van Outen bends forward with a whimper and bumps her chin against Lawler's shoulder before getting wrestled to the ropes where the younger woman resumes the jabbing destruction. She keeps Denise buried behind a tight earmuff and rocks her back & forth in a desperate attempt to knock her lights out! Denise groans behind the high earmuff but hangs on until the bell even though she looks short on oxygen already. Kate gives her a really long look before turning back to her corner however the crowd is on another planet here!

Round 3:
Kate jumps into another head-hunting charge but suddenly eats a quick hook on the mouth before Denise THUMPS her on the jaw with a crisp follow-up! Ugh! The hitherto dominant blonde wobbles onto her heels and finds little space to embrace the subsequent van Outen charge that tears into her mouth and knocks the head backwards. Denise really lays into her sudden opportunity and outworks the briefly stunned foe to silence the Bethnal Green audience in the proccess. As aggressive as Kate likes to be, she simply fails to escape the Essex woman's heat and caves in on the ropes where van Outen maintains the intensity and harpoons the liver area for a good measure. She almost launches a knee strike into Lawler's gut but then scythes her across the lips one more time... make that two... and three... and suddenly Kate's knees buckle as she moans her struggles out while Denise SLAMS another uppercut on the jaw TO SEND THE YOUNGER BLONDE SLIDING ONTO HER BUM in the corner! What in the world? A shocking recovery from the previously hopeless BBU TV anchorwoman turns the fight on it's head and Lawler is only saved by the bell here!

Round 4:
Denise looks to finish the fellow blonde off now but Kate refuses to give up the ghost and jumps into a recovery mission of her own... both women go all-in during the initial tangle and it's van Outen who WALKS into a crunching left-hander that slams her on the eye and half-spins to the side... Lawler delivers a perfect follow-up on the ear a split-second later and my oh my, van Outen is HURT!!! She sinks on jelly knees while her gloves drop by her breasts... Lawler is right there to pounce on her and a left/right rapid fire combo on both temples SENDS THE OLDER BLONDE DOWN ON HER BACK!!! We're all even now!!! Denise took a really vicious hit to the head when she went down, that's almost a classic deadmeat departure but she vows to make it back onto her feet regardless. She sits up at six and makes a gallant effort to rise up at nine... but then she wobbles back against the ropes and admits she needs more time to catch her breath. Well, she's not exactly 25 years old anymore! TKO4 Kate Lawler!!!

AFTER: Some of the most aggressive flyweights would be proud of that showing! It was fast & brutal and in the end simply too brutal for Denise van Outen who took quite a pounding in rounds one and two before she finally couldn't take it anymore in round four! Alas she almost destroyed Kate Lawler's cocky attitude in the third and removed her from future elite contention. Due to personal bias Kate Abdo and Anna Woolhouse refuse to address Kate's prospects and she might be a *little* too old to make a lasting impact on the BBU bantamweight title picture however the likes of Clara Morgane and Vera Brezhneva aren't all that younger than her so there is hope for the arrogant blonde to make her mark after all.

Kate grabs the mic and salutes to the Bethnal Green faithful admiring their loyal support but then says she demands big fights right NOW and is ready for EPIC results that will leave those "jealous BBU TV slags" tearing their hair out in frustration!

Final result: Kate Lawler def. Denise van Outen TKO4.
