Jodi Gordon vs Elisabetta Gregoraci
(The Metermaids vs BBU Independent)
(2-0, 2 KO vs 5-0, 5 KO)
Results: BBU: Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Following Elisabetta Canalis' recent defeat to Dua Lipa even Georgie Thompson believes that Elisabetta Gregoraci is the new designated leader of the Italian lightweight corps. Canalis' FCBA background doesn't make the difference anymore and Gregoraci could challenge for the outright BBU championship later this season. And she doesn't pick an easy opponent to further boost her elite mark tonight.

Jodi Gordon defeated both Georgia Salpa and Yasmin Verheijen so far but her ambitions of taking down ACB lightweight champion Mallory Jansen have gone nowhere and the lovely model/actress is forced to take a long trip to Rome just to remind everyone she's still alive. She's maybe no Jennifer Hawkins or Krystal Forscutt but she's got all the tools to make plenty of noise and the experts are indeed curious why Gregoraci has agreed to such a dangerous fight at this stage of her career? Gordon's been out of action since 2016 and that's the only thing that truly plays into the Italian's hands.

Jodi Gordon wears a pink & blue floral-themed bandeau bikini set and white gloves. Long brown hair tied in a curly ponytail. Elisabetta Gregoraci wears a silver bandeau bikini and red gloves. Long raven-black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Apparently Jodi and her coach Holly Valance have studied the Gregoraci tape well and they know they can't allow the Italian model to flex her muscles early here; Jodi is rather the bendy type rather than outright power-hitter but she still isn't fast enough to cover for the vicious charge. Elisabetta cranks it up from the word go and lands several crisp punches albeit she lacks a proper signature series to truly rattle the Aussie prospect off her guard. A couple of heavy hooks find the temples however Jodi remains committed to her defense and channels the counter-punching response which slowly staggers the Italian's progress. Elisabetta becomes a little too erratic in her early pursuit which allows the Australian guard to come to the fore and Jodi blasts a promising series to the body late in the going which suggests she isn't exactly a ranked outsider like the local media predicted coming into this fight. She misses the uppercut put-away on the jaw though but still earns a lenghty stare from the Italian model.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second; Jodi's happy to weather the initial Italian storm regardless of the high risk involved. Gregoraci remains committed to her bullying tactics but still lacks the proper oomph to make the difference. She's experienced enough to realize she can't continue like that forever though and steps back trying to lure the Aussie prospect into making her moves. The Metermaids ain't gonna fall for that, mind you! Pure boxing performance suffers because of this game of chess and Georgie Thompson reckons it doesn't really suit the Italian whatsoever so she'll have to make the breakthrough one way or another. Jodi dances around the dwindling assault and while it's hardly the most crowd-pleasing way to go, it leaves Elisabetta verbally upset at the bell. Coach Martina Colombari has to calm her down during the break but one can only wonder if that actually works.

Round 3:
Elisabetta has split from her playboy husband Flavio Briatore over the winter so that might explain why the model looks a little off tonight. Those personal life issues have affected her BBU schedule last season already and Jodi's a smart girl who can reach the ultimate top despite Mallory Jansen making all the noise back home. She neutralizes another Italian rush and jumps onto a counter-punching drill that forces a phone booth-like struggle where repeated slaps to Gregoraci's body sink her into more angry spasms. Gordon just won't let go here and wrestles the seemingly physically superior woman to the ropes where she drills her midsection to & fro before a blatant clinch comes to the Italian's rescue. Elisabetta really looks upset now but following another woeful head-hunting pursuit, she falls into a counter-punching trap and eats a steady jabbing barrage during the final stretch of a shockingly one-sided round. Cue in more jeers and whistles from the partisan audience!

Round 4:
Gordon has Gregoraci rattled mentally but she still needs to hurt her physically according to Georgie Thompson so she ups the counter-punching efforts after navigating through another initial charge from the local favorite. However Elisabetta isn't so committed to her attacks anymore and channels her defensive skills when the Aussie tourist cracks her high guard during the opening minute. She harpoons Jodi to the body and almost head-butts her in a subsequent slugging struggle that improves the attacking quality of the fight. But Gordon slams a nasty hook on the jaw to wobble the older woman to her heels and tears a patch under her left eye when she adds a point-blank range follow up to further dent the Italian pride here. Gregoraci stumbles back to the ropes where she survives another high-octane onslaught from the visibly improved Aussie girl who still cleans out her midsection to run away with the scores.

Round 5:
Elisabetta comes flying out of her corner and finally establishes some hooking authority even though Gordon remains as agile as before. However the real strenght behind the older brunette's punches allows her to leave bruises on Jodi's otherwise pretty face and force the tourist to seek respite in mid-distance. There's no denying the Italian charge now and she catches a break when Jodi trips over her feet while backtracking, a quick hook on the left ridge wobbles the younger girl into a crunching uppercut on the jaw and this time the clinch doesn't work as Elisabetta head-butts her foe in somewhat accidental fashion to make room for a quick uppercut rally that snaps Jodi's head back and leaves her trapped behind a desperate earmuff at the bell.

Round 6:
Jodi tries to regain her counter-punching stance but begins to soak up strikes through the middle as the lenghty lay-off period might have finally caught with her physical shape. Gregoraci breaths hard but she's in destruction mode and hauls in repeated hooks that leave more bruises on Gordon's face which wilts the Aussie agility. The raven-haired model finally traps her in close range and drills the breadbasket when Jodi becomes overprotective upstairs; she also gets outworked in the slugging exchange and bends to the side when Elisabetta WHACKS her on the liver area. The final minute is all about Gregoraci pouring more punches up the middle and she bounces off Jodi's breasts more often than not to sink the tourist into physical disarray come the bell. Even Georgie Thompson is impressed how well the Italian model channelled the unexpected JMD factor while Metermaids coach Holly Valance argues her case to the referee.

Round 7:
The jug muggin' switch has caught the tourists off guard and it only gets worse when Elisabetta squares up to her foe with similar tactics; Jodi lands a couple of nasty hooks on the chin but folds her cards when the raven-haired model connects with her boobs from both flanks and lifts them against the slumping chin. Ugh! Gordon screams out in pain and when she drops her gloves, she eats a scything cross on the mouth that buckles her knees on the spot. Nobody questions Gregoraci's power so when she adds a left/right combo on the temples, it's almost all over... Jodi wobbles forward with another whimper and then gets SMOKED with another heavy uppercut on the jaw... DOWN SHE GOES!!! Holly Valance pounds the turnbuckle in frustration but there's nothing she can do anymore as Jodi gets quickly counted out! She remains flat on her back blinking frantically but it's all over just like that! KO7 Elisabetta Gregoraci!!!

AFTER: This was a dangerous bout for the high-flying Italian model but she found a way to secure the win! As stubborn as Jodi proved to be, she found nothing when her breasts got hammered in proper JMD fashion. Holly Valance is an experienced fighter but needs more coaching patience as she never thought a frustrated local favorite can smoke away a top ACB prospect outside the numbers. Who cares this wasn't an official JMD fight? Martina Colombari and Elisabetta Gregoraci simply outcoached and outperformed the tourists when it really mattered!

There's no love for the fallen girl here: "She can go back to Australia and challenge for that ACB crown!", Elisabetta still hasn't gotten over her struggles during the fight, "I leave these minor titles to these minnows! She was tough but not that tough! She couldn't even knock me down! It doesn't matter, I'm going for the big prize next! Okay, so Alessandra Ambrosio still has the title but I guess this Sophie chick takes her down next. I can wait, I know I'm too much for these wannabes! Malika Menard or Joanna Krupa. Like really? I'm supposed to be scared? Belen Rodriguez is the toughest chick I know and she's not even among these contenders because Martina thinks I'm actually better. That's why I'm in the Main Event!"

Indira Weis on twitter: "Dumb Italian ho needs to be silenced! Let's bring it!!!" #GermanGirlsDoItBetter.

Final result: Elisabetta Gregoraci def. Jodi Gordon KO7.
