Before: "I think it's going to be important to stay mentally strong," says Mira in prefight, "I'm in with the best fighter in boxing, I just have to stay composed, work my gameplan, use my size and good things will happen. I know this: if I can stroke her chin with this (holds up right duke) she won't be the same fighter." Bell in dark tinted leopard print push up style bikini, Sorvino in chocolate push up and tan suede panties, low ponytail.
During R1: Sorvino: strong orthodox stance, trading stiff stick with Cat through much of the round. Bell surprised at the length and power on Mira's jab - blonde sets and spears pretty effectively. Bell working underneath late with wide right hands on the abdomen, coming up top with the hook to take the round on well placed blows to the bell.
R2: Mira undaunted, coming forward behind the double jab, banging back Cat's face, then surprising her with the follow up poke - Bell giving ground. Cat with the right hand at her cheek, trying to weave in close and dig hooks to the belly - Mira with her dukes up, elbows in, takes the shots well, answers back sharp with clubbing hooks up top. Scrappy Sorvino persistence has Bell in retreat, coughing up points in the second.
R3: Sorvino doing nice things with a basic, but crunching jab - Bell forced to compensate, step out to regroup. Mira walking Cat down, forcing battle - girls flat footed, setting and banging away with harsh hooks to body and guard up top - nice batting exchanges as ribcages get glossy with leather. Down the stretch, girls tucked into hooking postures - Mira clips the angle, half uppercutting the chin and BELL GOES WOBBLY BUTT! Cat straightening up hurt, eyes in shock, nearly pitches sideways, rights herself to stumble chest first into the ropes. Sorvino swooping on with a monster overhand right, barely blocked and blonde piles on with a bludgeoning series of wide swinging lefts and rights as Bell covers up. Mira pumped, drinking in the sight - Cat in shock, all tremble-bodied.
R4: Shutout Cat Bell. Nice recovery from a hard shot - Bell finally adding in a little lateral movement, forcing Sorvino to move her feet. Cat not all that active, but placing firm shots in precise combinations, then swivelling to her left to avoid receipts. Picturesque combo midway through: right hand on the hip, biting hook in the belly, jerking left uppercut on the chin leaves Sorvino blinking as Bell pivots away.
R5: Sorvino staying composed - knows she let a dangerous woman off the hook, gets right back to the business of breaking Cat down. Slamming jab from Sorvino positions Cat for level right crosses on the chin - brunette taking a solid shot this round as Mira gets good extension. Sorvino closing distance with a stuffing right hand to the pit of the belly, then bodying up - blonde doing a good job of using her size and muscling Bell off balance. Girls trading late - flat footed, right hands at cheeks, trading compact lefts - Mira's getting the better of the toe to toe.
R6: Cat circling left around her jab - Sorvino not as effective when Bell doesn't use the front door. Methodical brunette - touch her with the jab, weave in to hook the body, leave a forget-me-not on the chin on the way out.
R7: Shutout Cat Bell. Cat asserting herself at last - energy level's up, movement sharp, punching crisp and baseball bat loud against Sorvino's body. Bell placing her shots economically - body, body, chin - Sorvino sopping it up, unable to get off. Sorvino looking glum at the bell: nothing worked that round. Cat tells her corner during the break, "she's tipping the jab," raising her left elbow to show how Mira's telegraphing.
R8: Cat taking Mira apart. Bell reading Mira's jab like a book now - slipping and countering with clanging right hands over top, or moving away to leave Sorvino out over her feet. Bell keeping the same steady rhythm, not anxious, just getting good leverage, mixing it up body and head, turning Mira around the ring. Sorvino back to her corner lumped up, fighting despair through 8.
R9: Cat's done the groundwork, now she steps it up. Bell going right at Sorvino, backing the blonde up with shivering right/lefts on the waist, always finishing up with a jab-poke on the mouth. Sorvino back to the ropes, eyes wide as she tries to punch her way out of the jam. Bell with the right tight to her cheek - dips in, jerks her torso into three pumping hooks to brisket - Sorvino open mouthed in agony as she juts forward - Bell with the classic bobbing left uppercut on the chin drops blonde to all fours. Kodak moment knockdown - Sorvino breathless, shook up, she beats the count like a trooper, but she's shabby. Bell mopping up the rest of the way - shoving and slugging big blonde at the ropes - Sorvino shipping shots at the bell.
R10: Cold fury of Cat Bell. Bell with humming lead right hands on the mouth, puts Sorvino wobbly butt - blonde's legs gone as she topples aimlessly around the ring. Bell jabbing her girl to the ropes, spends the second minute dipping and ripping to body - heartless, ruthless pursuit of paunch as she gets her hips and shoulders behind the waist-work. Sorvino sobbing aloud, dazed, not fighting back - Bell starts waving the ref in to stop this thing but he won't do it. Cat keeps pouring it on, propping Sorvino with the left, leaning in on right hands to the chin - devastating blows draping the helpless blonde sideways over the top rope - she wilts back into position for more, gloves at her stomach. Mira won't go down - Ref won't act - Bell grits her teeth and keeps punching, beating a defenceless Sorvino ragged as the crowd roars it's approval. FINALLY the official steps in, Sorvino puddling in the man's arms - Bell outraged and heaping abuse on the man for his handling of a dangerous finale. TKO10 Cat Bell.
After: Bell marked up, showing how competitive Mira was early in this fight - Cat still worked up in post fight, "I could have killed Mira tonight, she didn't deserve that kind of beating," says Bell, "what the hell was that guy thinking? She was out, helpless, she was screaming from my body shots and the ref's right THERE, I mean, what's it supposed to take? I really hope Mira sticks with it - she showed me plenty in this fight that we really weren't expecting and I had to find that extra gear to outclass her - exactly what I needed. I just hope she'll be allright." Days later, Sorvino sees it somewhat differently, "I'd heard through the grapevine that TE fighters like to pour on, but I still believed Cat Bell was different, you know, a real sports woman. I know what to expect now; I didn't come in hungry enough. With Cat Bell, it's eat or be eaten. I hope she had fun, I really do, because if I ever get her hurt again, I'm finishing what I start the next time."
