Intro: The opening to tonights card in Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena sees Tamsin Egerton takes on Angela Griffin in a rematch that's 7 years in the making. Tamsin is 29 years old, stands 5'10, her record stands at 7 wins, 6 by knockout, 4 defeats and 1 draw. Angela is 41 years old, stands 5'8 and holds a record of 1 win, no knockouts, 2 defeats and 1 draw. The draw on both women's record was from their fight in 2011, a young Tamsin was surprisingly took the distance and couldn't beat the crafty Angela.
Both fighters were interviewed at their gyms, with Tamsin saying "now that bytch hasn't her stable to hide behind, I can finally get rid of a black mark on my record" Adding "before I hear that I am just after an easy victory because I lost my last fight to that bytch Ricki-Lee Coulter doesn't know me very well then, this is purely about fighting a wrong before I get back to work towards the title" Finishing her statement with "I have heard people have begun writing me off, they'll see soon enough" nodding at the camera filming this before she leaves. While Angela looks annoyed, venting "to think that Katie just dumped me! If she was unhappy with me fighting is one thing, to kick me out completely without even making me a coach is a joke!" Angela turns her attention to more pressing matters, telling the journalists "so I am pissed off and now Tamsin wants a crack at me, I'll happily take her challenge and look to take my frustrations out on her"
Fight night; out comes Tamsin first, she jogs quickly down to the ring wearing a white sports bra, gold trim, gold gloves and white boots, her blonde hair is in a ponytail. Climbing into the ring; she shouts to the crowd "get that bytch out here!" As the crowd seem to agree with her, Tamsin waving Angela to bring it. Now out comes Angela; her eyes locked on the ring as she walks down to the ring wearing a black sports bra, black trunks with gold strips, gold gloves and black boots, her own hair is in a ponytail too. Stepping into the ring; the looks being exchanged across the ring show that this has been brewing for too long, with Angela settling into her corner and warming up. Both are brought to the ring centre; eyes locked in an intense staredown as they square up to each other, Tamsin telling Angela "times up bytch" with the girls scowling at each other. Asked to touch gloves; they swipe them quickly together and jog back to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: Out come the fighters; both sling jabs at each other, with Tamsin landing the cleaner punches, driving her fists into the top of her opponent's head. Angela looks to try to slip inside the reach of Tamsin, she hasn't the speed though to move in tight, with the younger fighter too quick for her. Trying to dip under a straight and move forwards, Angela gets caught by a left across her cheek before she can land an overhand right, with a right hook turning her head. Tamsin is on the attack with her punches knocking Angela's head back and forcing her onto the ropes, where Angela tries to fight back. A right hook cracks Angela across the chin, wobbling her knees; A FOLLOW UP LEFT HOOK PUTS ANGELA DOWN TO HER KNEES! The referee nudges Tamsin back before he counts 1...2...3...4 Angela shakes her head and holds the ropes with her right 5....6... Pulling herself up 7....8.. Standing back up, Angela waves Tamsin on. Allowed to continue; the girls trade stiff punches, BUT ANGELA STILL SEEMS TO BE ROCKED, A RIGHT KNOCKS HER BACK A STEP AND AN UPPERCUT PUTS HER ON HER BACK! Spitting her gumshield out 1....2...3...4 Angela has her eyes shut as her head rolls to the side 5...6...7 Tamsin can be seen shouting "is this it?" 8...9..10 seemingly yes as Angela is out!
Winner Tamsin Egerton KO Round 1
After: Wow! It's rare to see a first round knockout but Tamsin just put Angela out for the count and even the crowd look stunned, though pundits seem to think it was oblivious what was going to happen. Angela isn't the same woman who drew with Tamsin all those years ago, her coach having to rush out and help her as the blonde looks like she wants to add more humiliation. But Tamsin shakes her head and instead turns her back on Angela, clearly thinking she isn't worth the effort. Soon enough Angela wakes up; holding her head as she is helped to sit up, her head down as she feels ashamed by her effort. Questions running through her head as it clearly is at the commentary box, Olivia Wayne and Denise Van Outen agreeing that this is going to be hard for Angela to come back from. Angela helped out the ring with Tamsin finally shoving her out her mind, with the BBU welterweight title the only thing on her mind. Though as Olivia points out "this is just the beginning of her run to the top, this result didn't prove much for Tamsin, other then giving her personal satisfaction" Judging by the smile on Tamsin's face, she certainly got a lot of joy out of this as she steps out the ring, bouncing up the ramp as she tells her coach "now it's time I really push on in my career" Plenty of top contenders though have stepped into the division, can Tamsin really fight her way through them to the title?
