BEFORE:
Our birthday bash begins with a bang, quite literally, with fireworks accompanying our Flyweight champion - Megan Fox taking the stage for the first bout of the evening, a black silky shawl covering nothing but her shoulders from the chilly beach wind and her dark maroon bikini baring the rest of her body for all to see. She poses seductively with both hands in the air as her theme song ‘Thunder’ (Imagine Dragons) blasts through the speakers behind, before strutting down the walkway towards the ring.
A good win for Ms Fox last month over Anna Kendrick - she now faces fellow stablemate Luisana Lopilato in a non-title fight. Must be nice to have the weight of gold taken off her waist, but some still questioning why head-honcho Caspian had booked these two to go at it the first place, with both belonging to two very different divisions.
“Megan asked for it, and Luisana said yes. That's all I needed,” Caspian saying during the press conference prior. “We work differently here at VIX. We believe a healthy rivalry pushes the girls further.”
At the conference table moments later, Fox smirks and continues: “I’ve taken the gold for the Fly. There are some gals in other divisions that I wanna beat up too. I will say this though: Luisana’s always treated me well ever since I joined up with VIX. But I hope she knows that that won’t stop me from hurting her today.”
Luisana’s entrance next and the response from the crowd is almost, if not equal, to that of the champion’s. The gorgeous Argentinian blonde having built up as equal fanbase even before she stepped into the ring last year. Her hair is tied up into a battle bun and she’s wearing her lucky white classic bikini. Clean colours and cleaner fighter for this girl, who has always played by the book. But what are her thoughts on her opponent tonight, who couldn’t be more different?
“She’s the champion for a reason, and you have to respect that. I was surprised when she wanted to fight me, but I don’t shy away from any challenge. So no, Megan, I’m not gonna go easy on you just because I showed you where we kept the sanitary pads in the gym the other day,” Luisana concluding with a turn to Fox, whose face immediately glows red whilst the rest of the audience breaks out into laughter.
When the girls meet in the center for their stare-down, Megan is clearly still blushing, but not in the ‘f*cking b*tch what the hell did you just say’ sort of way, but with genuine bemusement. But Luisana already calming her down with a friendly pat on the shoulder. Contrast in their physiques still dominating the discussion, however, with Luisana a clear three inches taller, some already dismissing this Catchweight fight as perplexing to say the least. Girls however share a friendly hug and look eager to get started once they’re in the ring. Will the champ put her foot in the door to a whole new division? Or will Luisana prove she’s championship material? Let’s find out!
ROUND 1:
FOX playing aggressive card early in this fight, comes flying out of corner skipping at a brisk pace and hounding Luisana with rapid-fire jab-jab-jabs to the head. Luisana known for her defensive plays, knew it was coming, instinctively raises her guard as she absorbs the blows. Girls dance this way for a good portion of the first round, as though they’re back to sparring with each other in the gym. C’mon girls - this isn’t play-time sparring no longer. Megan running away with the bank here as she dominates the blonde with her constant attacks even though only a small percentage of jabs are getting through and hitting the face or body. Luisana still looking like a punching bag, only occasionally firing off a wild hook that Megan easily avoids by weaving backwards. What’s Lopilato playing at here? Round ends and the crowd isn’t happy - the downside of hosting an in-house event is you’re bound to get rumours of potential match-fixing. But Lopilato getting an earful from Steve Boyd in corner and the blonde looks equally perplexed and knows this was a bad start for her. Perhaps she just needs some time to adapt and get out of her training-wheel mode. Fox on the other hand looks genuinely ecstatic at a dominant round, adrenaline shouting as she pumps her arms in self-congratulations and heads back to corner.
ROUND 2:
All that changes in the second round when Luisana sends one heck of a right hand into Megan’s jawline in the opening seconds. Crowd roars in approval at Megan’s misfortune as she gets rocked with that punch from out of nowhere - Luisana having shimmied a feint in her face before unleashing that cruel right cross. Fox stumbling back but quickly recovering and rebuilding her guard. Luisana for some reason doesn’t capitalise, but at least the rest of the round doesn't look like a Megan Fox showcase any longer. Second minute sees girls venture forward with a bit more risky behaviour, getting in close and tapping jabs into forearms before unleashing power-hooks to the ears as both rattle the other, looking for an opening. Luisana more used however to fighting in close, SHAKES the champ hard with a right hook to the guard late in the round, then plunges a left-left into the tummy in quick succession before she manages to escape. Close round for Luisana as she takes advantage of her bigger and taller frame.
ROUND 3:
Fox’s turn to get an earful of advice from trainer Corey Saucier - here’s a thought: must be weird and unpleasant to be coaching the same girls from different sides of the aisle, but not at all, judging from an earlier interview with the Co-Head Trainer, who was boasting: “Me and Steve - we had this event in our heads for a while now. There's some friendly competition going on so we’ll see who deserves to be Head Coach by the end of this.”
Saucier’s gal doing him proud this round, facing Luisana’s charge head on with jabs to the nose and mouth when Luisana gets careless. Megan learning her lesson and just staying out of clinching-range - Luisana’s hooks hitting at empty space and receiving a good number of flick-jabs that light up her face. Second half sees Luisana still advancing but more cautiously. She takes another one-two on the nose but gambles with a powerful hook to the liver - Fox grunting as her side contorted, but she still has energy to get out of range, not without sticking a hand into Lopilato’s lips as parting gift. Good round for our Flyweight champion, hoping to prove that she can do more than just survive a fight with a powerful Bantam.
ROUND 4:
Lopilato’s corner dealing with cuts to the lip and nose in between, Megan’s many punches starting to take effect. Still she soldiers forward, now daring the champ to come to her instead. What’s Megan gonna do? Champ never known for backing down and she tries using her speed to dance around the atomic blonde, firing off long jabs that batter the guard and tummy. Luisana taking her time, one or two return shots almost land clean as they slam into Megan’s forearms. Fox smirking to herself - nice girl image briefly appearing before now vanishing in smoke as she proudly thinks her agility’s far superior to Luisana’s. She’s wrong - a last hook crashes into her guard, literally throwing her backwards, but she doesn't count on Luisana immediately charging forward and smashing another hook straight into her face! Ugh! Fox blown over to the side, stumbling and trying not to keel over. Lopilato coming in strong and fast for her built, flurry of punches to the covered up head then alternate digs into Megan’s paunch, drumming fists off her waistline. Girls end up in a clinch with Fox realising she can't get away this time - only recourse is to wrestle away the time. Luisana having her way for the last twenty seconds or so, shoving Fox to the ropes then surgically pumping fist after fist into the belly and banging off side of face. Bell rings and at least the blonde’s her friend, tries to prop the champ up and ask if she’s alright, to which Megan merely grunts, shoves her off and storms back to her corner. Could this little fly have bitten off more than she can chew??
ROUND 5:
All that sparring in the gym and both girls are still unable to capitalize on each other’s weaknesses. “You’ve gotta pick her off! You’ve SEEN how she fights in the gym. Don't try and go toe-to-toe with her!” Corey adamantly trying to convince Megan he knows how to win this, but Megan merely nodding back, focusing on getting much needed air into her lungs. DING! Luisana is grinning behind her gloves as she charges. Look of horror on Corey’s face as his girl has barely risen from stool, grunting as Luisana buries another left-right combo straight into her stomach, then tries a deft knockout uppercut intended for the chin - only to get her arm abruptly PARRIED away when Megan uses both arms to push downward to block the move. Look of horror on Luisana’s as her cheek eats a big hook to the left, then an even bigger one to the right, sending her sprawling off to the side and into the ropes. “THAT’S MY GIRL!” is all Corey blurts out but Megan’s not listening, charging forward and wrecking the blonde along the ropes with more whacking away up top, but not finding continued success with Luisana’s tight guard. Frustrated, she travels south, getting vengeful tummy shots and even shoving her hands into her ‘good friend’s’ chest, drawing looks of shock and curses from Luisana’s corner as the grunts grow louder and louder, with Luisana wondering if she has unknowingly befriended a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Luisana surging forward at the last moment, wrapping arms around in tight clinch, cheek against Megan’s forehead as she controls the smaller girl with surprising ease. Not a good round for Lopilato either way you look at it, but at least she avoids a humiliating knockdown from a smaller woman.
ROUND 6:
Megan parading, showboating as she exits her corner. Luisana out of breath, doesn't have the nerve to charge in and take advantage. Megan then given the keys to the castle: whap whap WHAP on her teammate’s nose opens Luisana up all of a sudden, red liquid flying free as though the waterworks suddenly burst wide open. Shock from the audience as Luisana scrambles backwards trying to brave the flood and continue, eyes blinking with the pain to focus her sights on her opponent. But Megan not letting up, mercilessly (or some would later say, mercifully) continuing the barrage of punches on Luisana’s bloodied nose, before KNOCKING her down to the ground with a corkscrew uppercut that takes her clean off her feet and then she comes crashing down to the canvas! Is this it for one girl’s hopes and dreams?? 8...9…10… YERR OUTT!! Referee waves it off with Luisana barely making it off her knees there, blubbering into the ropes as she tries to recover but fails. It’s OVER just like that!!!
Official Decision: Megan Fox defeats Luisana Lopilato via KO6!
AFTER:
Megan has every reason to celebrate of course, having felled a giant here and lived to tell the tale, and she’s quick to advance on Luisana. In fact, she’s the first one who kneels down by her side, checking to see if she’s okay. Luisana’s face still a bloody mess, but Megan ignores the red and bends over, embraces her neck tightly, whispering apologies into her ear. Luisana actually smiling back, spurting congratulations through her reddened lips as the rest of the medical team come pouring in to clean her up.
Definitely an explosive (and gory) start to this event. Future Bantamweights to sit up and take notice of this enigma that is Megan Fox, who continues to deny all the odds and emerge victorious here today yet again!
