BEFORE:
"Oh," says Summer without the hint of a smile, "I'm just here as an OPPONENT. Everybody knows I'm all DONE, right? That's what everybody's saying. Sure, I'm a former champion, but, I've lost management and hit a losing streak and it's all DOWNHILL, right? Well. We'll just SEE about that. We'll just SEE."
"Don't believe the hype," says Allison with a shake of the head. "This girl is very, very good.. And, she hasn't lost a thing. Make no mistake about that. She's top shelf. And, make no mistake about this. I'm going to beat her anyway."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'I Will Survive' by Gloria Gaynor, which happens to be a favorite of the young lady bouncing down to the ring right now, former Unified Bantamweight Champion and the star of 'Firefly', Summer Glau!"
Tess: "And, Glau HAS been on a losing streak lately. But. She DID fight for the bantamweight title last year, losing to Minka Kelly in February, so, I have to think she's still a dangerous opponent."
McCarthy: "So, it's, frankly, AMAZING that Weirdo actually booked her..."
O'Dell: "Glau into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a white bikini and a body that's been involved in quite a bit of training..."
Oh, the shark, babe
Has such teeth, dear...
McCarthy: "UNBELIEVABLE!"
Cassie: "What's unbelievable is that, after all these years, you STILL find this unbelievable..."
McCarthy: "She STOLE MY SONG!"
Tess: "For the MILLIONTH time, Wiz BOUGHT the rights to the song for Allison..."
McCarthy: "STEALERY! That's what it is! STEALERY!"
O'Dell (sighing): "The song in question is, of course, 'Mack The Knife' by Bobby Darin, and hearing same these days can only mean that Allison 'Mack The Knife' Mack is on her way to the ring..."
McCarthy: "Mack the FRAUD, more like! There's only ONE Mac The Knife and I'm HER!"
O'Dell: "Allison into the ring. She's wearing that black robe with the gleaming silver knife on it, a single drop of blood dripping from the blade. Mack helped off with said robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that blood red bikini with which we've become familiar..."
McCarthy: "And a body that would get her kicked out of a shoot for a bottom shelf skin rag..."
O'Dell: "Aaaannnnddd, it's time for some picks. Tess likes Allison. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Glau's a champion. Mack's a wannabe. Summer!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Glau making with the legs, as you'd expect. Summer's always been a girl who moves very well and very effectively, and that's clearly going to be the game plan tonight. Mack, as usual, will look to stalk. She'll want to close and bang, and Glau's going to make that difficult..."
McCarthy: "I can remember her giving Britney all kinds of problems with her movement, and Spears is one BILLION times the fighter Mack The Fraud is."
O'Dell: "Lot of tactical stuff going on right now, as both fighters get the lay of the land. Summer scoring with the left hand, moving very well, catching Mack as she tries to close. Allison sound and patient, working hard to get past Glau's defenses and square her up, but she's not getting it done."
Tess: "Summer certainly still has plenty of leg, at least in the early going."
O'Dell: "No doubt about it. Heading down the stretch. Glau's built a modest lead and she's protecting it with that solid left jab, keeping Mack at bay. Allison still stalking, looking to cut and close, but not having any luck. Five seconds to go, and there's the bell. Summer grabs the first."
Cassie: "And takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second verse, same as the first. Glau wants to move, stay at range. Mack wants to cut and close. Allison having a bit more success this stanza. She's getting the ring cut off, getting some leather on target. But, the veteran Glau keeping those exchanges short. She's slipping away quickly, getting back to open canvas."
Cassie: "When you get two good veterans in the ring like this, two former champions, you'll see a lot of adjustments as the fight goes on, and we've seen some already."
O'Dell: "Sure have, and, as you point out, expect more. Mack cuts the ring, goes body. Glau ties up, shoves off, slips away. She's back to the left jab, moving very, very well. Allison again cuts the ring and closes, hooks the midsection, lands a nice uppercut to the head. Summer again ties up and slips away."
Tess: "Mack landing some solid shots in there, Jenny."
O'Dell: "But, Glau doing some scoring of her own when they're at range. She's still landing as Mack works her way forward. Allison bobbing the head, slipping in, DIGGING some body as we near the bell. Again, Summer ties. Referee will break this time and there's the bell. Second straight close round. Mack."
McCarthy: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with one of those adjustments Cassie was talking about. Glau double-tapping that jab now. She's getting it on target, keeping Mack at bay with it, setting up good right hands. Allison unable to cut and close now, and that leaves Summer able to range around the ring..."
McCarthy: "This is a great strategy from Glau. It's the kind of thing I did against Mack, because, I'm so much more athletic than SHE is..."
Tess: "Yes. I seem to recall you bouncing around the ring for all of about 30 seconds one night before she knocked you out..."
McCarthy: "I. HAD. BEEN. FIGHTING. ALL. NIGHT. AGAINST. AN. ALL-STAR. TEAM! And. SHUT UP, WALMART!"
O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as Allison drinks a whole bunch of leather from Glau. Summer's really got it working now, popping that left hand into Mack's face, bouncing on her toes, really in rhythm. Mack working hard. Trying to get to spots where she can get some offense going, but it's not happening."
Cassie: "Key here is how ACCURATE Glau is with that left. She's landing jab after jab right now."
O'Dell: "Down the stretch and Summer's in total control here in the third. Glau ranging wide, reversing field, bouncing around looking a lot closer to 26 than 36. Good combination from Summer there. Stopped Allison in her tracks and forced her to cover up. And, there's the bell. Glau. Wide."
McCarthy: "And, it's now Summer-29, Fraud-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Fourth underway and Glau still in control with that double-tap jab. Mack continuing to take faces full of leather..."
McCarthy: "And, it can only HELP a face like THAT..."
O'Dell: "Summer scoring with the jab, following on with right hands, keeping Mack off and staying in open canvas where she can use her legs."
Tess: "Glau's got it all working perfectly at the moment, and, when she's rolling like this, there aren't too many girls who can handle her."
O'Dell: "There's a reason she's worn the belts, that's for sure, and you're getting a really good look at it right now. If anybody thought this girl was finishing coming in here, she's disabusing everyone of that little notion. Another good combination from Glau. Stops Mack in her tracks."
Tess: "Allison being forced to cover up even more in this round."
O'Dell: "So far, Mack not able to find an answer for what Glau's doing, and, until she can, Summer's going to control this fight. Ten seconds left in the fourth. Another nice flurry from the brunette throws the blonde onto the defensive, and there's the bell. Glau wide for the second consecutive round."
McCarthy: "Summer-39, Fraud-37."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Fifth underway and here's another of those adjustments. Mack tucking the head now, going into that quarter crouch she likes, keeping the gloves high, blocking those jabs from Glau as she works forward. Allison now able to cut, close, and bang some body, and she's doing some serious digging in there..."
Cassie: "Glau tying up, trying to force breaks, but Allison punching free."
O'Dell: "Mack uber-aggressive inside, banging away hard with both hands. Body, head, back to the body. Glau now thrown to the defensive as she tries to tie up to slow some of this down, but the blonde just all OVER her right now. GOOD right hand from Mack! Her best punch of the fight backed up Summer..."
Tess: "Now it's Glau who needs to find a way to slow this down, because Mack has the range and is calling in the artillery."
O'Dell: "And, most of it is landing in the ribs and midsection of Summer Glau. Brunette tying up, finally managing to force a break and get some space. Mack right back forward, banging away at the body. Good right uppercut from Allison who forces Summer back to the ropes at the bell. Mack. Wide."
McCarthy: "But, Summer still leads The Fraud 48-47 at the half."
ROUND SIX:
O'Dell: "Second half of this one underway with Mack again working forward in that quarter crouch. Glau jabbing for space, circling wider, trying to keep Allison off, but, again, Mack able to work through the fire, trap Summer in the phone booth, and begin to get to work on the body."
McCarthy: "Glau firing back in kind now, and that's what she has to do. Can't let that Fraud intimidate her in there."
O'Dell: "Mack having the better of things, but Summer landing some good shot of her own, both to head and body. Mack working mostly downstairs at the moment. GOOD right hand from Glau and DOWN GOES SUMMER! Brunette dropped to her back by that rising right hook of Allison Mack!"
Tess: "What a punch! Landed that on the button!"
O'Dell: "Definitely did, and with plenty of force behind it as she leaped up out of that crouch. Mack to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Summer staring up at the referee. Six. Seven. She rolls to her belly. Eight. Nine. Trying to push up off the mat but she's out of time! TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Allison 'Mack The Knife' Mack!"
Cassie: "Great fight, but a huge finish from Allison."
AFTER"
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Allison Mack, and Allison, that was not easy."
Allison: "Never going to be against her. That girl took the belts from Britney. She can fight. And she hasn't lost a thing. Take it from somebody who was just in with her. She's still got it."
Tess: "But, you found a way to get it done."
Allison: "That's what I do in there. That's what I've been doing in there for sixteen years now. Finding ways to get it done."
