Abbie Cornish vs Brooklyn Decker
(Downunder Boxing vs Lioness Club of America)
(2-10, 1 KO vs 33-11, 22 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: Even BLONDE! Magazine calls this fight a mere "stay busy" session for Brooklyn Decker who has her eyes firmly set on Tahnee Atkinson whom she's scheduled to fight next month. LCA head trainer Claudia Schiffer confirms the notion and tells the reporters that: "The plan is to throttle Abbie Cornish as quickly as possible. We all know Brooks is the New Goddess. She can eat theses Aussie blondes for breakfast! But it's always better to get out there and destroy 'em rather than waste time in the gym. Brooks is in top shape. She doesn't need extra workout. We know Tahnee takes no prisoners but she might be a little vulnerable after the Kate Upton fight. We go the other way, Cornish will be dealt with accordingly to the betting odds!" (smiles).
Abbie Cornish wears a light blue bikini set and silver gloves. Long blonde hair straight, curled at the bottom. Brooklyn Decker wears an orange bikini set and black gloves. Long blonde hair wrapped in a loose bun at the back of her head. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Cornish looks anything but overwhelmed ahead of the fight but she gets wrapped in a proper hooking rush from the word go and struggles to keep it competitive as Brooklyn splits her mitts repeatedly and simply knocks her around the ring in bulldozing fashion. There's no stopping the Goddess as she flicks a couple of hooks to the body but prefers to head hunt her opponent. Abbie loops several weak hooks and fails to adjust to the high-octane stalking that eventually drops her butt-in-ropes come the final minute. Ugh! The Aussie blonde winces in pain when one of Decker's countless hooks nails her on the nose and she develops shaky knees when a late combo slams her on the right ear. All Decker here in the opener and Cornish doesn't look that calm anymore as she's given a lecture by Downunder trainer Nikki Visser during the break.
Round 2:
Abbie's on the back foot from the start and simply drags the superior blonde into a lenghty clinch but eventually manages to stick several promising hooks to the body. Brooklyn struggles to stretch her elbows in such a close range and misses a couple of head shots which fuels Abbie's counter-punching plan that allows her to loop more successful hooks over the top. Decker backs off and hopes to lure the Aussie woman into a careless attack however Abbie isn't a genuine rookie and she refuses to fall for the trap which results in both women circling each other in meaningless fashion during the final minute.
Round 3:
Decker's up for the stalking drill again and outmuscles the Aussie blonde in mid-distance before driving up her gut to reel her backwards. A desperate swing from Abbie's heels goes nowhere and the Ohio blonde cuts her up in nasty fashion when she unloads the head-hunting juice on speed dial. Ugh! Tahnee Atkinson better watch out next as Decker simply cranks it up to the point there's blood coming from Cornish's nostrils as she gets her gloves shoved into her face in wake of the onslaught. She drops to the ropes but receives the tomato can treatment and fish-tails against the cornerpost when Decker simply knocks her back there. Sheesh... this is even more one-sided than Decker used to perform at the Asylum but she channels her inner Gena Lee Nolin here and really wants to knock her opponent's head off!!! Abbie's reduced into a scowling mess come the final minute and it's a miracle she hasn't gone down yet! Her mitts drop by the side and there's more blood coming from the nostrils with the Aussie woman being completely outmatched here tonight. The bell saves Cornish from a looming disaster but most of the pundits believe coach Visser should step in now and prevent her fighter from getting embarrassed.
Round 4:
The Downunder camp refuses to quit but there's no hope for Abbie who gets thumped straight through her leaky guard and endures another head-hunting test that quickly results in more blood spillage. Ugh! The embattled actress can't stop moaning her heart out as she abandons any offensive plans and basically tries to survive the onslaught. Decker gets vocal as she pushes for the ultimate destruction and finally reaches her target when she slams a left hook on the ear followed by a brutal uppercut on the exposed chin. The relentless pressure rendered Cornish into deadmeat long before the last punch and she simply SLIDES DOWN ON HER KNEES before collapsing on her face moments later. Ugh! She's out cold here and the referee signals for the medical crew to arrive as quickly as possible. Ruthless KO4 Brooklyn Decker!!!
AFTER: The Sports Illustrated Goddess inspects her mitts where Cornish blood remains visible and that was an almighty beating she delivered here tonight - even if that was to be expected. The Aussie tourist is lucky to escape this train wreck without any broken bones but the Lioness entourage doesn't waste an extra second on her as 'Mission Tahnee Atkinson' comes to the fore courtesy of coach Schiffer's speech:
"Yeah, I don't expect Tahnee to be terribly excited over this result. Who cares? Brooklyn is ready to make some noise over at welters and that's the Odds & Ends problem now. We're all set and ready to rumble. Even Hannah Ferguson can't feel safe anymore. (...) Sure, the plan is to unify both light & welter straps Charlize Theron-style. And that requires Tahnee to go down next month as step number one! It's as simple as that!"
Final result: Brooklyn Decker def. Abbie Cornish KO4.
