BEFORE:

"This is exciting," says Sarah with a smile. "You dream about your first FCBA fight. And your first FCBA win. And, both are going to come tonight!"

"It's cute," says Ariel with a smile of her own, "That she thinks she's going to win tonight. I'd say I'd love to be there when THAT little bubble breaks, but, of course, I WILL be, and I'll be the one breaking it."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Set It Off' from the Disney movie 'The Descendants', you hear, and the voice you hear singing it is that of the lovely lady coming to the ring right now, Sarah Jeffery!"

Cassie: "Jeffery, of course, was one of the stars of that movie, and, right now, she's starring in the NBC series 'Shades of Blue' with Jennifer Lopez..."

McCarthy: "THAT'S who ought to be on this card. J-LO! SHE'D come in here and kick some Dancing Hooker butt!"

O'Dell: "Jeffery into the ring and helped off with the robe. Wearing a frilly crepe number that shows off a well-trained body, and, that's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' pounding through the arena, but, that's not the Taylor Swift version. The singer of this tune is ALSO the lady coming down to the ring right now, Ariel 'Dangerous Curves' Winter!"

Tess: "Winter's done well since she came here to Front Street, but, her division got a little more crowded this month with the signing of another hot prospect, Jennette McCurdy, so Ariel knows she needs to take care of business tonight."

O'Dell: "Winter into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that white number we've seen before and all those curves that make the reason for her nickname clear. Ladies about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess favors Winter. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Typical Dancing Hooker opponent. No FCBA wins. Winter."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "It's unanimous. Let's see if the ladies are right. Jeffery showing a load of movement early, which is no surprise to anyone who's seen video of her fights at lower levels. Canadian has legs and will use them. She's popping out the left jab, circling, bouncing, making Winter work to close."

Tess: "Jeffery only 5'3", but she has both height and reach on Winter, who's 5'1"."

O'Dell: "And, she's using that reach effectively early. Ariel patient, working the feet, looking to close where she can, if past performance is any indicator, bang some body, but Jeffery making that very, very difficult right now. Canadian brunette finding range with that left, popping it in Winter's face."

McCarthy: "Not doing anything else, though. She's winning the round, but she's not going to win the fight this way."

O'Dell: "Winter bobbing forward, now closes and works the ribs. Jeffery quickly back to open canvas, circling, jabbing, not always getting the left on target, but she's getting it in the WAY, making Winter expend effort to get past it. Ariel closes again, hooks some ribs, and there's the bell. Jeffery in the first."

Cassie: "And, it's always nice to get that first FCBA round in the books, especially when you win it, so she's got to be happy with the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins the way the first ended. Jeffery wants to stick and move. Winter wants to close and bang. And, Ariel having more success this time around. She's getting past the Canadian's jab, banging body when she does. Sarah, though, keeping those opportunities short..."

McCarthy: "And, she's doing it by tying up around the head, then slipping away. Good stuff for a girl in her first FCBA fight."

O'Dell: "Winter, though, getting work done when she gets to her spots. Working mostly body, but going upstairs in spots, too. Sarah taking some hard shot and shipping it pretty well for the moment, but that's going to add up over time, at least you'd think it would, with as heavy as some of that leather is."

Cassie: "Oh, it will, if it keeps up. But, if Sarah's able to limit these exchanges like she did in the first..."

O'Dell: "Down the stretch, and Winter again working in close and tenderizing the ribs and midsection. Sarah tying up, slipping away, but Winter right back after her. Jeffery not getting that jab on target this round, and that's been the difference. Ten seconds to go. Good short right by Winter, and there's the bell. Ariel in the second."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with Jeffery again circling. Winter working forward. Sarah lands a NICE combination that stops the Front Streeter in her tracks. Good right hand in there was the best punch of the fight for the tyro so far. Jeffery circles away. Ariel again looking to close but again stopped by a solid flurry..."

McCarthy: "THIS is what I was talking about in the first. She HAS to get that right hand going to slow Winter down."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly what the Canadian is doing. Winter getting stopped cold, left out on the end of Jeffery's punches, and Sarah taking full advantage of that, making Winter cover up. Jeffery a NICE right hand there! She got Ariel's attention with that one, no question about it!"

Tess: "Confidence has to be growing for Sarah. She doesn't look over her head here."

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds of the third. Jeffery in control. She's got the range down with that jab, she's following on with hard right hands. She's getting points scored and leather on target. Five seconds to go in the round. One more solid flurry from Sarah and there's the bell. Jeffery. Wide."

Cassie: "And, Sarah's back up 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with Winter again stalking. She's got the chin tucked now, gloves high, cutting the ring, banging some body, and ROCKING JEFFERY WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Ariel with a BOOMING hook that wobbled the Canadian's legs and Winter immediately all in looking to finish this thing!"

Cassie: "Ariel's, as we've seen, a closer. She knows how to finish an opponent."

O'Dell: "And, she quickly backs Jeffery to the ropes and begins letting her have it to both head and body. Sarah with the gloves high, putting the body on sale, and Winter, who'll take that at full price, is stocking up now. She is absolutely HAMMERING at her rival's flanks, belly, ribs..."

McCarthy: "All while Jeffery is running clock."

O'Dell: "True enough. Just 30 seconds to go in this round. GOOD right uppie by Winter wobbled Jeffery again. Sarah tying up. Ariel shoves her off, works some more body. Sarah pinking up now, as Winter bangs away with both hands to the bell. Jeffery still standing, but it's Ariel via shutout."

Tess: "And, we're even at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Fifth begins with Winter damning any and all torpedoes. She's right after Sarah, walking through her punches, banging the body, landing a solid uppercut that shook the Canadian again. Sarah covering, backing, Winter very, very aggressive right now, but also plenty sound."

Cassie: "Nothing sloppy about it."

O'Dell: "Jeffery trying to stay off the ropes, trying to slow Winter down, but Ariel turning the heat even higher, sitting down on every punch, STAGGERING Jeffery with an uppercut. Sarah clinching, hanging on and DROPPED WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Oh, what a punch from Winter!"

Tess: "Right on the button."

O'Dell: "Sarah dropped to her back by that right hook. Ariel to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Six. Jeffery rolls to her belly at seven. She's pushing up to hands and knees. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! Sarah can't get off all fours, and your winner by KO5 is Ariel 'Dangerous Curves' Winter!"

McCarthy: "Lucky punch."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Ariel Winter, and, Ariel, you took control in the fourth..."

Ariel (nodding): "Yeah. I had to stop letting her dictate tempo and distance. When I did that, I got her in trouble."

Tess: "It's been quite a year for you. What are your plans for 2018?"

Ariel (smiling): "Well. SOMEbody has to be the first Front Streeter to win the flyweight titles. Why not me?"
