31 December 2017 Serinda Swan vs Briga Heelan

Page history last edited by caspian2 4 years, 1 month ago

BEFORE:

"Look," says Briga with a lovely smile, "This is my FCBA debut and nobody expects ME to win. But, I've got a fist and she's got a chin, so, let's see what happens."

"Yes," says Serinda with a nod, "I'm STILL unhappy about how the Winstead fight went. The good news is, I get a chance to take that out on somebody tonight. And, that's exactly what I'm going to do."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "We're back at ringside and that's..."

McCarthy: "I LOVE THAT SONG!"

Tess: "Wait...Mac actually LIKES a song?"

McCarthy: "I LOVE it, and, did you know it's three tennis players singing?"

Cassie: "Wait...WHAT?"

McCarthy: "Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, and John McEnroe!"

O'Dell: "Truck, tell Pointy I'm going to need that brandy..."

Tess: "No, Mac, this is 'The Young Folks', by Peter Bjorn and John..."

McCarthy: "Exactly! Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, and John McEnroe!"

Cassie: "Mac, what color is the sky in your world?"

McCarthy: "Shut UP, Scabbo!"

O'Dell (sighing): "That is, indeed, 'The Young Folks' by Peter Bjorn and John and it's also the theme music for the lady climbing into the ring right now, the star of NBC's 'Great News', the lovely Briga Heelan! Heelan helped off with the robe to reveal a ruby bikini and a body that's clearly had quite a bit of work put into it, and, that's 'Foxey Lady' by Jimi Hendrix you hear behind us, and that can only mean that 'The Hottest Player In The Game', Serinda Swan is on her way to the ring..."

McCarthy: "And, once again, she is not even the hottest player in this BUILDING..."

Tess: "Swan, as she mentioned in the pre-fight, coming off that loss to Winstead last month, and she's looking to get back on the winning track tonight."

O'Dell: "Serinda into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that red bikini we've seen before, so, we've got dueling reds tonight. And, the ladies are about ready to go, so, it's time for some picks. Tess likes Serinda. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Yet another Dancing Hooker opponent without an FCBA win. Swan."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Heelan going to set up at range here, looking to box, and Swan fine with that. This gun-platform stuff is something Serinda's always liked. Briga giving up some height and reach here, but she's angling, cutting the distance, getting the range she wants..."

Tess: "Swan looking like she's just feeling this girl out right now."

O'Dell: "Serinda certainly not doing a lot. Popping out the jab, moving the feet, not really working right now. Could be because she's not getting the terms she wants. Heelan, on the other hand, has the geometry down. She's getting the left hand on, following with rights, putting punches together."

McCarthy: "Getting that left out and back very quickly. Moving the head. Liking what I'm seeing from this girl."

O'Dell: "Well, she's no tyro. She's 30. She's been fighting at lower levels for awhile now. But, this is the first taste of the big leagues, and it doesn't appear the bright lights are blinding her, at least for the moment. Five seconds to go in the round. GOOD right hand from Heelan and there's the bell. Briga's round."

Cassie: "Like I said last fight, got the first FCBA round out of the way and won it. Good start."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Ladies right back at range looking to box. Heelan again getting to her spots, getting the geometry the way she wants it, getting leather home. Serinda not accomplishing nearly as much. She's not punching a lot and getting a lot of what she is throwing slipped or picked off."

Cassie: "Got to wonder if the Winstead fight is still on her mind. Swan seems out of sorts. Of course, Briga might be the cause of that."

O'Dell: "May very well be. Heelan showing some nice hands so far in this one. As Mac points out, she gets the gloves out and back quickly. She's also able to set punches up well, able to put them together. Another GOOD right hand from Heelan there! That had to get Swan's attention..."

McCarthy: "Sent sweat flying, that's for sure. I'm liking this kid more and more as the fight goes on..."

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds of the second. Heelan landing a SHARP combination that forces Swan to cover up. Shorter girl getting the job done early in this one. She backs Serinda up with another solid right and follows on with a nice flurry that takes us to the bell. Heelan wide in the second."

Tess: "And, Swan's going to hear it from Neve Campbell between rounds. She's down 20-18 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with Briga again wanting to box at range, but Swan has different ideas. Serinda wants to get physical now. She's coming forward behind the left, throwing hard right hands, looking to back the younger woman up. Heelan trying to hold ground, but it's not going to happen..."

Tess: "I was wondering when this was going to happen. Swan can be a very physical fighter."

O'Dell: "And, that's exactly the Serinda you're seeing now. Heelan firing back hard, but the weight of shot in Swan's favor. The Canadian backing up the American, landing a HARD right hand that gets Briga covering up. Swan getting rolling now, and, if Heelan's not careful..."

Cassie: "She's going to get run over."

O'Dell: "Just what I was thinking, Cassie. Heelan game, trying to hang in, trying to fire back, but, there's just too much hard, accurate leather coming from Swan. Briga looking shell shocked in the final seconds of this one. ANOTHER good right from Serinda and there's the bell. Swan. Wide."

McCarthy: "But, Heelan's still up 29-28. Just needs to get herself together in the corner."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with Serinda turning the heat to eleven. She's all OVER Briga early. Heelan firing back with a HARD right hand and SWAN ROCKS HER WITH A RIGHT OF HER OWN! Heelan staggered by that right hand! Briga now covering up as Serinda goes to town..."

Cassie: "Serinda all about the finish right now, Jenny..."

O'Dell: "Again, just what I was thinking, Cassie. Swan letting the leather fly. She's got the big guns trained on Heelan and she's letting the shell go. Briga backed into the ropes, definitely in deep trouble and DOWN SHE GOES after an absolutely BRUTAL right uppercut from Serinda Swan!"

Tess: "She's not getting up from that..."

O'Dell: "Heelan went absolutely limp after that right and just puddled down the ropes to lie on her right side. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Not sure why he doesn't waive this off, because this girl is NOT getting up. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Hottest Player In The Game', Serinda Swan!"

McCarthy: "She's still nowhere NEAR as hot as ME."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Serinda Swan, and, Serinda, slow start..."

Serinda: "That's on her. She's a pretty slick boxer. Didn't expect her to be able to cause me problems like that. But, I got it figured out."

Tess: "And, got a lot more aggressive...:"

Serinda (nodding): "Let's just say I got a 'suggestion' from the corner that I might want to get my nether regions in gear. So. I did."
