31 December 2017 Gemma Arterton vs Torrey DeVitto

Page history last edited by caspian2 4 years, 1 month ago

BEFORE:

"You know," says Torrey with a glare, "I'm getting really tired of hearing about how I don't belong in the FCBA. So, I lost a couple of fights! I can do this. And, I'm going to prove it!"

"This girl is far from hopeless or anything like that," says Gemma with nod. "She's just not had a lot of opportunities. Take her lightly, and she's going to make a name off you. So, I'm not going to do that."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Alive' by Sia, and here comes the star of 'Chicago Med', Torrey DeVitto!"

Cassie: "And, before Mac asks, this song WAS featured in the first episode of 'Chicago Med'..."

Tess: "Which Mac would know if she read the prep material that Alison Brie so nicely provides to us."

McCarthy: "When Brie's not too busy showing off her mediocre chest on cable TV! I mean, why even SHOW those little things?"

O'Dell: "Allow me to cut this subject off right now, because 'Swan Lake 17: Jason vs. Freddie vs. The Minions' is going to be running any second now, so, let's concentrate on the ring, where Torrey is being helped off with the robe to reveal a lovely turquoise number and a well-toned body..."

McCarthy: "It's OK. Nothing special..."

O'Dell: "And, that's 'London Calling' by the Clash you hear banging through the arena, and that means 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton, is on her way to the ring."

Tess: "Gemma a former champ who's looking for a shot to get those belts back, and she's right in the middle of the title picture at the moment. She needs a win here to stay there."

O'Dell: "Arterton into the ring, helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that violet two-piece we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Gems. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Yet ANOTHER Dancing Hooker opponent without a win! Arterton."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "First round underway and Torrey making with some leg right now. She's working her left hand, moving the feet, not dancing, but showing plenty of footwork early. Arterton, plenty athletic in her own right, working patiently. She wants to square up her opponent, but DeVitto making that difficult early..."

Tess: "Good strategy from Torrey, because she does not want to get into a bomb-throwing contest with Gems, who's one of the FCBA's hardest-hitting lights."

O'Dell: "DeVitto hard to find right now, no question of that. Gemma trying to get the left hand on, but not having a ton of success doing that. Torrey slipping and dipping and looking to counter with hard shot here and there. Gems closing distance a bit now, working some body, but DeVitto slipping away..."

McCarthy: "You know, the way this girl is fighting, she reminds me a little of ME. I mean, she doesn't have MY talent, and she's not a TENTH as hot, but..."

Cassie: "This portion of our program brought to you by Mac's Ego. Mac's Ego. There's nothing bigger in the world..."

McCarthy: "Shut UP, Scabbo!"

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds of the first. Gemma closes on Torrey, again works a little body, but DeVitto slipping away, jabbing, turning with. This is good stuff from Torrey, and, while she's not running up any big edge in points here, there's the bell, and she's done enough to grab the first round and take a 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins on the same terms as the first. DeVitto moving, Arterton, who, originally, was OK with some ranged warfare, now wants to close and bring power to bear. Gems able to do that and works some more body. DeVitto ties up, then slips away, working that jab."

Cassie: "Torrey's got a nice, sharp left hand."

O'Dell: "No question about it, and it's been her best weapon in the early going. She's been able to use it to slow Gemma down and, of course, to score points. Arterton stepping to again, thumping the ribs and midsection. DeVitto again ties up, this time forcing a break from the referee."

McCarthy: "This girl is SMART, too. Also reminds me of ME..."

Tess: "Just gonna leave that right there..."

McCarthy: "Shut UP, Walmart!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, as we come down the stretch. Gemma again stepping to, banging some body, landing a good right hook to the head. DeVitto ties up, shoves off, circles away. Arterton crowding again, REALLY working that body now. DeVitto ties up again. Referee breaks and there's the bell. Another competitive round. This time to Gems."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins the same way the second ended. Arterton working forward, DeVitto playing for space. Gems cutting the ring and closing, working some body. Torrey tying up, slipping away. DeVitto working that jab, getting it into Arterton's face, slowing down the British beauty's pursuit..."

McCarthy: "Liking this girl more and more. If we didn't already have Palicki at light..."

O'Dell: "DeVitto lands a nice combination there, stopped Gemma with the left then dropped in a right and followed with a nice left hook. Arterton not cowed, however, stepping back to, closes, bangs body. DeVitto tying up and Gemma lands a nice left hook to the midsection and DROPS TORREY WITH RIGHT UPPIE!"

Cassie: "And, that will be all for Ms. DeVitto..."

O'Dell: "Arterton got that head dropping just a bit with the left hook to the belly and then just blasted that right uppercut to the chin. Torrey spilled to her back unmoving. Gemma in a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Torrey has not moved a muscle. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO3 in one-punch fashion is 'The Gravesend Gladiator', Gemma Arterton!"

Tess: "Didn't think this would take long. And, it didn't."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Gemma Arterton, and, Gems, as I said in my predictions, I didn't expect this to last long..."

Gemma: "Well, thanks for your confidence in me, but, she's better than people give her credit for. She's not a bad boxer. She just needs work."

Tess: "You had another great year in 2017, losing only the one fight to Lima. You've lost only four in the last seven years, so, I'm guessing there can be only one goal for 2018..."

Gemma (smiling): "Absolutely. It's the only goal there is. I won the belts in 2016. I want them BACK in 2018."
