Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE:
"Okay, so the Mia King thing, that didn't end well. Who thought these leggy models can actually move?", Paige still remains puzzled over her latest outing when she got unexpectedly roughed up but she vows to make amends by taking down a powerful Aussie blonde Abbie Cornish tonight. "Don't let her record fool you! She's one tough cookie! To come back after getting blown away so often means the girl has some courage! (laughs). Okay, so who really CARES? I'm supposed to beat this tramp to the pavement! Let's bring it on, bytch!"
Rumours about a last-moment medical clearance for the English wrestler only fuel speculations about her alleged removal from active "in-ring" WWE role. Apparently Paige's neck injury won't hamper her boxing career though and The Dollhouse head trainer Kristanna Loken dismisses all inquiries with the standard "no comment" attitude. Paige hasn't been dropped off the PPV schedule and that should answer all questions concerning her health for the time being.
With so much attention paid on the English wrestler, it's almost a blessing in disguise for Abbie Cornish. The Aussie actress continues to flatline around the FCBA environement and her last win dates back to August 2011 when she out-pointed a fresh-faced Jennifer Lawrence. That feels like ancient history however if the 35-year old blonde can't impress the viewers against a fellow struggler then the tough questions about her FCBA tenure will have to be asked according to ESPN's Erin Andrews!
Paige wears a black bra, black leggins and matching black gloves. Long raven-black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Uriah Heep's "Lady In Black" pumps out of the speakers as she enters the arena alongside coach Loken. Abbie Cornish wears a golden sports bra, green hotpants and golden gloves. She's flanked by Downunder head trainer Nikki Visser as well as Kylie Minogue who assumes the cutwoman duties. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Abbie's mediocre record indicates she's a little vulnerable when targeted and Paige wastes no time whatsoever in unloading the jabbing assault. She outworks the blonde in close range and buries her under a proper leather barrage that sends the older woman backpedalling in a hurry. Paige's attacks don't tick off the precision box however the sheer workload alone allows her to topple the actress during a rather one-sided opener. Abbie tries to mount a recovery while throwing punches from the back foot but barely grazes the brunette's flesh and ends up backed into the corner with the English lass tearing up her high guard in the closing seconds of the round.
Round 2:
Paige gets even more aggressive here and launches another successful jabbing tirade before blasting the blonde across the mouth with a powerful hook. Cornish almost checks out on the spot following that shot and spends majority of the opening minute seeking a clinching respite. However Paige displays some core strenght and eventually shoves the older girl away before stalking her with more jabbing strikes. Abbie tries to find a circling way out of trouble and manages to avoid the English leather until Paige clocks her with another wild hook to squash her lips. Ugh! Cornish wobbles on her knees and gets tackled to the body as the brunette pounds her back to the ropes and clatters the exposed ribcage to run away with the action late.
Round 3:
Nikki Visser tries to ignite some passion into the blonde's fighting attire but Abbie claims she knows what she's doing here. Well, she hasn't done anything to speak of during these six minutes but the early return in the third round is mildly positive. Perhaps Paige is guilty of showboating - like that hasn't happnened in the WWE before - and allows the Aussie girl to blast her with a surprisingly effective hooking route before another wild swing finds the right brow ridge and sinks the wrestler on jelly knees! Uh-oh! Paige tries to respond immedately but Cornish beats her for a right-on-right and sends the brunette spinning into the ropes! Paige bounces off them and escapes a follow-up charge at the last second; she yields more real estate in the subsequent tussle and Cornish barks in anger at the bell as she just couldn't really put the icing on the cake!
Round 4:
Paige still sports that wry smile as she charges at the blonde to start the fourth however the Aussie guard withstands the opening test and as both women trade blows in the center of the ring to raise some noise inside the Staples Center. There's nothing to choose between these two and Erin Andrews has a feeling Abbie is almost going all-in here with her FCBA career very much on the rocks. She wobbles the younger woman in a battle of mind over matter however a cut over Paige's left eye might be responsible for that as well... Paige looks visibly uneasy when she notices the wound and The Dollhouse coach Kristanna Loken suddenly becomes more vocal than Nikki Visser in the opposite corner. The final minute has Cornish wading more juice into the brunette's cleavage and that's a new plan for this contest, one could say the Aussie crew saved something extra to further dent Paige's steaming train but the truth is, the wrestler finally got exposed during a proper slugging dust-up and that's a reason for the Dollhouse gang to be concerned right now.
Round 5:
A heated debate between Paige and Kristanna during the interval doesn't help the brunette's cause - in fact both fighters don't really seem to follow their coaches' advice - and things only get worse when Cornish's initial charge opens the patched-up wound over the wrestler's eyes to cave her in behind a tight earmuff. The Aussie actress unloads more head-hunting assault right there and then - and Paige CRIES OUT when she gets nailed on the wounded brow ridge before the blonde blasts one into her solar plexus. Ugh! The wrestler gets tackled both high & low but refuses to yield real estate... she doesn't clinch her foe either but sends one in over the top... she misses and since her right arm is just too low to offer protection Abbie STUNS her with a mighty cross on the jaw!!! And that torpedo sinks the English ship.... PAIGE DOES DOWN and the Staples Center crowd goes “Oooohh” in collective shock!!! The poor girl lays horizontal on the floor with her arms above her head and when the count reaches seven it's obvious she won't make any return here... What a smoker from your winner Abbie Cornish!!!
Official Decision: Abbie Cornish defeats Paige via KO5.
AFTER:
Kristanna Loken is left shell-shocked in the Dollhouse corner but that could have been one of the best - if not the best punch Abbie Cornish has landed in her disappointing FCBA career. There's still some life left in that blonde veteran and both she and Nikki Visser go slightly over the top hugging each other and jumping all over the ring! Erin Andrews claims this is an upset as The Dollhouse set the entire card up to their liking and this results definitely wasn't in the script. To make matters worse, Paige looked in total control after the opening couple of rounds and the come-from-behind victory will surely ignite a heated debate inside the Dollhouse gym. Andrews makes it painfully brutal in her post-fight review: "Just how BAD is this Paige girl anyway?"
