A battle of Marvel stars here as Agent of Shields Elizabeth Henstridge
battles the Avengers Scarlett Johansson tonight.
Elizabeth is 30 years old; she stands 5'4 and holds a record of 17
wins, all by knockout and 3 defeats.
Scarlett is 33 years old; also stands 5'4 and holds a record of 32
wins, 24 by knockout, 35 defeats with 3 draws, she is a former 2 time
FCBA flyweight champ, a former FCBA bantamweight champion and a 2 time
FCBA JMD champ.
The build up saw both fighters doing an interview on FCBA TV, with
Elizabeth smiling as she says "this is such an honour; while Chloe is
like my sister, Scarlett is the one we all look at on set and think
that's who we want to be like, mind Ming Na Wen is the toughest woman
I know, so I'd love to see those two fight"
As she is trailing off the topic of this fight, she remembers what she
should be speaking about, she says "but I have to step up myself, I
respect her but I must win to show I'm as tough as my friends and
idols"
Scarlett also looks happy, admitting "I have to say that I'm glad to
be back in the ring; when you have the reputation I do, people don't
exactly rush to fight you I have found"
Chuckling she adds "I also have to say I didn't expect that Elizabeth
would be the one to come up to me at a press event and ask me to fight
her, I thought she was crazy till she explained she meant boxing and
wanted to give me time to train"
But getting serious she says "I give her my respect for that but I
plan on butchering her in that ring, she wants to prove herself, well
I am not going to rollover for her, I'll try to be nice afterwards
though and maybe pat her back for a good effort"
Fight night; out comes Elizabeth with Taryn Terrell and Eva Carneiro
by her side, she is her usually bubbly self as she heads to the ring,
high fiving several of the young fans in the crowd.
Her attire is her a grey sports bra, matching trunks, shorts, gloves
and shoes, while her brunette hair is up in a ponytail.
Stepping into the ring; she bows to the crowd before she heads to her
corner, getting drilled off Taryn to warm her up, she punches Taryn's
hands to get focused on the task at hand.
Now out comes Scarlett; she gives the crowd a quick wave, her face
though is fully focused on the ring as she walks down the ramp.
Her attire is a black sports bra, silver trunks with a black widow
motif on her left leg of her trunks, black gloves and shoes, while her
blonde hair is up in a ponytail.
Getting into the ring; she nods over to Elizabeth as she pumps her
right fist into the air, before heading to her own corner to warm up,
shadow boxing with her coaches help.
Soon though the fighters are at the ring centre; Elizabeth smiling as
Scarlett stares at her with a deeply serious look, the contrast of
personalities written on their faces.
Asked to touch gloves; Scarlett bangs her gloves hard into
Elizabeth's, showing she is fully in fight mode and any friendly
feelings she has can wait till after the fight.
Once the fighters get back to their corners, the referee signals for
the bell to ring to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:
Out come the fighters with both probing the others defences with their
jab at first, up on their toes as they circle; it's a cagey start as
they look for anything they can use later in the fight.
Scarlett is the first to up the tempo; stepping forwards with a three
punch combo that finds air as Elizabeth steps back, with the crowd
wondering if Henstridge is scared of the Black Widow star.
It seems to be the case again when Scarlett again tries to push the
pace with a jab up top that lands, but the follow up two to the body
don't as Elizabeth retreats behind her guard.
Leading to Scarlett looking pissed off as she barks for Elizabeth to
fight her, with Scarlett stepping forwards again with a double jab off
the guard of the younger woman.
But as Scarlett misses with a right hook; Elizabeth now comes on the
attack as she slams three punches into the face of Johansson.
Elizabeth showing she was playing the waiting game as she pushes
Scarlett back behind her guard with a flurry of punches aimed at the
head, finding the gloves of the veteran with only a few punches
catching Scarlett to her nose.
The Brit finishes the round the stronger as she keeps the pressure on
Scarlett with body shots till the bell rings, Elizabeth jogging back
to her corner as Scarlett doesn't know whether she was played by the
ultra defensive act or if Elizabeth was afraid of her.
All she knows as she sits down is that she got caught out, her coach
telling her to be careful of Elizabeth as she isn't stupid to get
caught in a fire fight of she can help it.
Round 2:
As the fighters come out; again the fighters start the round by
circling and trading single punches as they measure each other up.
Elizabeth looks to bait Scarlett again as she starts moving back to
force her opponent to come after her and to catch her out.
Scarlett throws a feint and when Elizabeth goes to throw a straight;
Scarlett dipping under the punch and coming inside to bang away to the
body of the younger fight.
The Brit finding herself being bullied back as she lands two punches
to the top of Scarlett's head, but finds herself getting caught with
an uppercut to her chin and knocked to the ropes.
Henstridge forced to cover up as Johansson uses her left to pin her
guard up top and bangs away to the ribs with her right to cause
Henstridge to groan.
Elizabeth needing to push Scarlett back to move off the ropes; working
behind her jab to try to get back in control of the round.
But Scarlett parries a jab away and steps in with two cross punches
across the cheeks of Elizabeth and as Elizabeth covers up, Scarlett
bangs away at her gloves now as she forces Elizabeth on her back foot.
The round ends with Scarlett dominating the action and looking her old
self as she jogs to her corner with her right fist pumping into the
air, the crowd chanting her name as she is clearly their favourite.
Elizabeth nods as she heads back to her corner; with Taryn telling her
"don't let her control you! All this toughness she claims to have is
all an act!" As Elizabeth smiles at Taryn and says "thanks" accepting
she needed a boot up the backside after that round.
Round 3:
Back out they come with Scarlett looking to keep bullying Elizabeth
around the ring; though it's Elizabeth behind her guard as she catches
her opponent to her face early in the round.
It's Scarlett though pushing the pace of the round as she slips past a
straight to step in and slam punches into the body of Henstridge.
Who dances back with two straight punches landing into nose of
Scarlett to ward her back; Scarlett smirking as she waves on
Elizabeth.
The fighters stinging each others faces with straight punches, as
Scarlett continues to keep Elizabeth on the outside and wait for a
chance to really strike.
That comes as she dips under a left cross from the British actress and
slams a straight into her abs, then lands an overhand left to knock
sweat off the head of Henstridge.
With Scarlett using the momentum to knock Elizabeth into a corner with
two more piercing punches between the mitts of Elizabeth, who has to
fire back or being in real trouble it seems.
Both fighters going toe to toe as the crowd roars them on; Scarlett
though dips under two cross punches and gets in close to hammer her
fists into the abs of Elizabeth to force gasps out of her.
Elizabeth covering up as Scarlett keeps her pinned back with a barrage
of punches, her body being tested with repeated shots as seconds tick
away in the round.
With the bell ringing to end the round; Scarlett smiling as she heads
to her corner; knowing she has an idea of how to beat her opponent
now.
Scarlett's coach nodding as he grins at her, telling her "this is
great; you don't look like you've been a day out this ring"
While Taryn doesn't know what to say; surprisingly Eva speaks up as
she says "I know you are nervous but what did you tell me when I was
nervous out here, just think you are in the gym" with Elizabeth
thanking Eva for the reminder.
Round 4:
Elizabeth looks more assured as she steps out her corner; body looking
marked up and Scarlett clearly wants to be at it as she steps to the
inside, leading to both trading in tight.
Scarlett looking to force back Elizabeth as she has done the last two
rounds, shoving Elizabeth back and missing with a right hook as her
opponent moves her head back.
The American stepping forwards and working the guard of Henstridge,
who again is being herded back under the pressure she is under again.
But as Elizabeth gets near a set of ropes, she dips down as Scarlett
throws a left hook, finding air with the punch and getting caught by
an uppercut that knocks Johansson's head back.
Scarlett moving back and finding Elizabeth right in her face now;
banging punches into the face of the former champion to push her back
towards the ropes.
Now it's Scarlett needing to fight back from a terrible position; with
Elizabeth ducking under a right cross and slamming several punches
herself to the body of Johansson, who gasps out.
Scarlett shoving Elizabeth back and misses with two straight punches
that her opponent dodges out the way of, before Elizabeth lands a
right through the guard of Scarlett to her nose and left hook that
shoves the older fighter behind her guard.
The bell rings with Elizabeth nodding over to Eva as she heads to her
corner; while Scarlett gives her a scowl as she is annoyed at herself
as much as Elizabeth.
The Girls Friday corner looking slightly more relaxed as Elizabeth
seems to have found her mojo again, her smile lighting up the corner
as she chats away with her corner crew, even as she is marked up.
While the Johansson corner team looks a little more edge, telling her
"just a bad round; nothing to get worried yet, just don't let her
thing she is back in this" with Scarlett banging her gloves together
as steps up to reengage.
Round 5:
Both fighters come to trade early at the ring centre; Scarlett looking
to have recovered after being beaten back herself in the second half
of the last round as she seeks to get to the inside again.
Scarlett takes several punches on the top of her head as she keeps
trying to bob and weave her way in, till she slips under a right and
comes up with an overhand right that turns her opponents head to the
side.
The Black Widow ploughs forwards with two more punches that knock
Elizabeth's head and force her to retreat, with Scarlett stalking her
back.
As Scarlett goes for a jab and uppercut combo, Elizabeth parries the
jab away and leans out of range of the uppercut just in time, landing
her own counter right behind the ear of Scarlett to disrupt her
momentum.
Back and forth go the fighters as they Scarlett manages to slam away
to the body of Elizabeth to make her groan out, before Elizabeth
nudges her back and strikes up top with pinpoint punches that knock
the head of Scarlett back.
The turning point of the round seems to be as Scarlett dips down to
come up with an overhand shot; inside she gets caught by a right
across her temper that makes her groan out and take a step to the
side.
Elizabeth smacks her across her face with three more clean punches as
Scarlett looks to be stunned, her guard just about coming up as
Elizabeth goes for the finish with a right hook.
Ending up with Scarlett clinching up with Elizabeth; with the fighters
looking happy for a moment to take a breath till they are pulled
apart.
Elizabeth is the quickest to strike when the fighters reengage;
landing a jab to the lips of Scarlett to disrupt her opponents attempt
to load up on a right hook, before landing two more quick punches to
the face of Scarlett to push her back.
The bell rings with Scarlett behind her guard; looking frustrated as
all her hard work seems to be going up in smoke unless she does
something about it.
Her corner team seems to have lost their smiles too as they work on
her face, cleaning her up and warning her to step up another gear, has
the ring rust started to take it's effect though?
Round 6:
Back out they come with both again getting straight into each others
face; Elizabeth showing Scarlett she isn't afraid of her as they go
toe to toe once more.
Till Elizabeth surprises Scarlett as the blonde haired fighter swings
a right hook aimed at Elizabeth's head, instead the brunette steps
back out of range and lunges in with a straight that rocks Scarlett
back a step.
Scarlett trying to get her gloves up as Elizabeth rifles punches right
into her face to make her back up right onto the ropes with her eyes
shutting for a moment.
The American tries to fight back; but Elizabeth has the momentum and
is landing the stiff punches as Scarlett's head keeps getting knocked
back, TILL A RIGHT HOOK CATCHES SCARLETT AND WOBBLES HER LEGS!
Elizabeth keeps hammering away at the face of Scarlett, whose starting
to slump, A RIGHT AND LEFT ACROSS THE FACE OF SCARLETT MAKES HER LEGS
GO AND SHE SLIDES DOWN THE ROPES TO ONLY BE SITTING UP BECAUSE THE
BOTTOM ROPE HOLDS HER HEAD UP!
The referee begins to count 1...2....3.....4 Scarlett's eyes begin to
open 5....6 her arms start to move but fall back to her sides as she
looks down 7....8.. She hasn't the energy to get up as she spits her
gumshield out 9....10 and is counted out!
Winner Elizabeth Henstridge KO Round 6
After:
The crowd roars for Elizabeth; who looks stunned that she actually
took down the girl she has the most respect for on the Marvel sets,
Scarlett is actually down at her feet and is being checked on by
doctors, only Taryn and Eva rushing to hug her snaps her out her
shock.
Meanwhile Scarlett also looks stunned to have lost, spitting her
gumshield out as she pushes the doctor away and uses the ropes to
slowly pull herself up, showing why she is viewed as one of the
toughest women in Hollywood and the FCBA.
Her coach helps her back to her corner so she can take a few moments
to clear the cobwebs from her head, her cheeks swelling up from the
pounding she took at the end don't help her mood.
It seems Elizabeth does want to help her mood by coming up to Scarlett
after her gloves are taken off and tells you "I knew you were tough
but you are so amazing in this ring"
With Scarlett looking up at Elizabeth with an inquisitive look, she
replies "yeah well when I get a few fights under my belt, the result
will be different" Elizabeth looking a little upset by the not so
friendly reply.
Till Scarlett adds "you got me good tonight though" and puts her hand
out, with Elizabeth smiling warmly and eagerly shaking the hand of the
woman who she still sees as a hero, even though she has proven she can
beat her.
Scarlett soon steps out the ring as she let's Elizabeth have her
moment, she knows that this was just step one of her comeback, plenty
of time to remind the FCBA who she is.
While Elizabeth bows to the crowd and thanks them for their support,
they give her a loud cheer in response as she continues to show how
popular she is with the crowd.
Stepping out the ring; Elizabeth looks like she is going to continue
being a Cinderella story in the flyweight division, the woman who
wouldn't hurt a fly before stepping into the ring is suddenly a title
contender.
For now though all she wants to do is get a shower and call Chloe
Bennett about this fight as she jogs to the back looking like
Christmas has come early for her.
