ROSE BYRNE VS JESSICA CHASTAIN Results: Lookout Writing: Archer Rose: 38 YO, 5’6 ¼ (1.68 m): FCBA: 1-4-0 (1 KO) since 2012, Foxfire Atlantic Boxing Jessica: 41 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m): FCBA: 3-0-0 (3 KO) since 2017, The Dollhouse
Before: “I trust you didn’t get jet lag getting over here from the UK to fight me? I do appreciate Foxfire for arranging it,” said Jessica Chastain. “I like fighting ladies with a name people recognize.”
“Thank you,” says Rose Byrne, “it’s not often these days that I fight someone my senior. You must be good. I understand you’re unbeaten—up to now.”
“Oh? You want to be the first to beat me? That would be your second win in 6, right?” Jessica inquires.
Rose frowns: “Yes, it would be.”
“I see it bothers you. Of course it does. To win 1 fight out of 5—I would rather frustrating, I would assume,” Jessica continued.
“I am working to do something about that—starting with you,” Rose says with a firm look at her future opponent.
“Then bring it on, Rose, I will be more than willing to add to the wrong side of your record,” Jessica says with an equally firm look.
The determined looks are still there when Rose and Jessica meet at the PPV. Rose is in black sports bra and short black trunks with red gloves and boots (black laces). Hair pulled back in a knot secured by a red ribbon. Jessica is in her Dollhouse attire: red sports bra and leggings with black and red gloves plus black boots with red laces. Quiet ring instructions, but when it comes time for the gloves to tap, they unexpectedly ram them together and start pushing in a surprise test of strength. Referee is not amused and breaks it up, sending them to their corners with a stern warning. Bell rings and actual fight begins.
R1: Rose and Jessica move smoothly out to mid-ring and begin to circle each other. Punches moving back and forth as the opponents probe each other. Punches go at head, then to the body and then back to the head, Very even for the first minute, but then Rose seizes the initiative and moves in fast striking hard at Jessica’s head. Jessica’s head smacked around and backs up quickly while deploying her jab. Rose circling to dodge Jessica’s jabbing and keeps striking at Jessica’s head and face. Jessica fighting back with the jab, but it’s not really slowing Rose down, Rose finds Jessica’s guard now protecting her head so she starts working the midsection and making Jessica hunch up under the pressure. Rose then works to push Jessica back into the ropes, but Jessica able to escape passed Rose and get to mid-ring. Rose catches up and resumes the body attack to the bell. Rose puts this round on her side of the cards quite easily.
R2: Rose back on the back, but Jessica is ready for her and they battle it out at mid-ring, circling and firing away steadily. Again the punches are ranging from head to body and back. Then they move in closer to concentrate on close-in body punching, Rose bringing short, nasty right and left hooks into Jessica’s belly, while Jessica is bringing her hooks up into Rose’s breasts. Rose not liking this, backs up and lashes out with a hard right to the side of Jessica’s head. Jessica knocked off-balance, but comes back with a right that whistles over a ducking Rose’s head while Rose drives a straight right between Jessica’s eyes. Jessica shuddering and falling back, but she shakes it off to relaunch her jab to keep Rose from a knockdown follow-up. Rose trying to circle and find an opening when times runs out. Rose wins the round, but Jessica has made it closer.
R3: Jessica moving out quicker this round and it pays off for her as she catches Rose with cracking right to the chin. Rose’s legs shaking and her gloves faltering as Jessica swarms in pumping rights and lefts into Rose’s face until Rose can get her gloves back up. Jessica now pumps leather against Rose’s breasts and hooking deep her into her belly meat. Rose falling back rapidly, trying to get some breathing space with Jessica in pursuit. Rose gets her jab up and this is able to stall Jessica’s attack. Jessica then works to drive Rose back to the ropes. Rose fighting to avoid this with the jab, but Jessica finally breaks through with uppercut to the chin that sends Rose into the ropes. Jessica closes in, but she’s barely got started on her intended beatdown when Rose breaks it up with repeated clinches. Time runs out. Rose leans against the ropes, breathing hard as Jessica simply strolls away secure in the knowledge she has won her first round by a good margin.
R4: Jessica coming out of her corner at a rapid pace as Rose is much slower and looks cautious. Jessica puts on the pressure early with series of sharp hooks to the belly that send shock waves through Rose’s body. Rose trying to jab Jessica back, but Jessica is still pounding Byrne belly and the intensity of her punching rises. ROSE GOES TO HER KNEES. Rose folds up and slumps her knees, arms wrapped around her midsection as she gasps for air. Jessica to the neutral corner as referee starts his count. Rose struggling to get up, but her legs no longer working. She looks up with anguish at the referee as the count goes on. Then she lowers her head and accepts her fate tonight:
“NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”
JESSICA CHASTAIN DEFEATS ROSE BYRNE KO4!
AFTER: “Nice win if I do say so myself,” Jessica Chastain tells reports in the ring as she patted on the back by Dollhouse sisters Katheryn Winnick and Hayley Williams. “Guess Rose won’t be eating solid food for a while. You could tell every punch I landing in her stomach was turning her legs to mush. Four and O now! I can’t wait for my next fight.”
As for Rose Byrne she helped to her stool to recover before being taken to the Foxfire dressing room. She has ice packs on her stomach and a towel over her head. She looks up at the press.
“You cannot imagine how disappointed I am that I was beaten to the body. I don’t think that has happened to me before and it is something I want to see happen again. Jessica’s a darned good fighter for her age. Too bad she didn’t get started sooner. Time for me to get back to the UK and regroup. I am discouraged, but I am not giving up. Not at all!”
Lively encounter between two mature fighters. Jessica Chastain had some bad moments in the first two rounds, to defeat Rose Byrne in the course of the next two. Another unfortunate outing for Rose Byrne, but Jessica with her 4-0 record is building up some flyweight fan interest. Finding opponents for her tricky, but maybe some semi-retired bantams can be lured back in the ring. Observers will just have to wait and see. |
