ADELAIDE KANE VS CAMILA MENDES

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Adelaide: 27 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 4-14-0, 3 KO since 2013, Foxfire Boxing

Camila: 23 YO, 5’2 (1.59 m), 4-2-0, 4 KO since 2017, Odds & Ends Fight Studio

Before: Unsaid thread running through this match-up. Adelaide Kane has been struggling at Foxfire Boxing and there are rumors she could be on her way out if she doesn’t improve. If that weren’t enough, Camila Mendes was reportedly being scouted by Foxfire, only to have Odds and Ends Fight Studio strike first and sign the hot prospect.

“I don’t anything about those rumors,” insists Addie at the pre-fight. “Am I supposed to jealous of Camila. I’ve been ‘Hot Rookies of the Month’ come and go. I stick to my business and look to my own fights. I will admit I haven’t won nearly as many as I would have liked, but I am not going to obsess over the past. Not when I can stop the rumors with a solid win and, believe me, Camila is quite beatable.”

Camila smiles wickedly. “Spoke like someone who has won 4 times out of 18 chances. You can just hear the desperation in her voice, can’t you? I don’t claim to be the ‘Hot Rookie of the Month’, but I AM a rookie and I AM hot thanks to my wins. I have a lot to learn, but losing to a failed fighter like Adelaide is not one of them.”

Addie’s jaw drops and she turned red with anger: “I should go over there and slap you to sleep!”

“Threats are all you have left, Addie. Don’t waste them on me!” Camila fires right back.

Addie and Camila are in short shorts and team logoed tees for the event. Adelaide now storms over, grabs Camila by the shirt front and starts slapping away! Camila is stunned for a moment,. But then answers with a vicious knee into Adelaide’s crotch. Addie howls and stumbles back. Camila then uses the palms of both fans to slap Addie-first one cheek and then the other. Addie is wearing high heels (as is Camila) and the heel breaks on one of the shoes. Addie loses her balance and sits down in a heap. Snarling, Camila grabs a handful of Addie’s dark hair, but Addie drives an elbow into Camila’s crotch. Now Camila lets out a loud moan, teeters back on her high heels and loses her balance. Down on her butt goes Camila Mendes. Addie crawls towards the stricken Camila with vengeance in her eyes and throws herself onto Camila. They roll around screaming, kicking and clawing at each other. Watching crowd presses up to the stage to catch all the action, especially when the tees are torn off and Addie is seen in a white bra and Camila in a pale blue bra.

However, just as it looks like the bras might be the next to go, FCBA Security finally appears. The screaming Adelaide and Camila are both dragged from the stage. It is an epic catfight and naturally social media spreads it to all who weren’t lucky enough to be present. Suddenly, what had seemed to be a routine undercard bout gains a lot more attention. (Funny about that, some cynical observers remark, but most fans too excited to wonder about it).

Fight Night finds Addie in burgundy with black trim short trunks and sports bra. She has black gloves and boots with burgundy laces. Her hair is piled up on top of her head in a braided crown. She is clearly in a fighting mood as she pounds her gloves together and tries to body up on the slightly smaller Camila. Camila is in navy blue short trunks and a bright yellow sports bra. She has yellow gloves and boots with navy blue laces. Camila has her hair in double pigtails with yellow bows. She glares at Adelaide and stands her ground at the attempted bodying up. Referee has his hands full keeping the two under control long enough even the simple glove tap turns into a pushing an shoving match. Finally, the seething young women are in their corners and they certainly have the crowd roused up as the bell rings…

R1: Adelaide pressing Camila hard in the opening minutes of the bout. She is unleashing a barrage of rapid-fire punches that have Camila struck in the head and body before she has time to react. Camila trying to swing around Addie, but the Foxfire flyweight keeps disrupting her moves with pops to the face and then hooks to the stomach. Camila trying to organize her defenses, but Addie’s pressure is keeping her from doing it. Adelaide not targeting any particular part of Camila’s body, she seems content to keep the rookie confused and laggard in her counters. Round ends with Camila breathing hard and nursing a number of swelling lumps on her face. Addie turns her back on the panting Camila and marches away. She knows she’s won this round wide and the judges confirm it on their cards.

R2: Addie back with the pressure punching, but Camila getting some power into her counters. Adelaide smacked hard across the face. Camila then following up with some deep, digging hooks to the belly. Addie stumbles back a few steps, but then rallies to battle with the jab and the fight quickly turns into a grinding, close-in body bashing war. Camila getting enough into her belly hooks to tip Addie forward and then banging her about the head. Addie now the one under pressure, trying to lash back with her own hooks and jabs, but Camila forcing to her to give ground as the bell rings. Close round, but the judges give it to Camila by a close margin.

R3: Camila and Addie go right back each other in close. They are constantly pressing up against each other as they pump in the leather a short, hammering blows to the body. Addie finds Camila’s ribcage and starts working the ribs with special fury. Camila shuddering and stepping back as Addie maintains the rib roasting attack. Camila does sting Addie with a surprise overhand right that catches Addie between the eyes and stuns her for a few seconds, but Addie rallies with some hooks to the belly that put Camila up on her toes just before the bell rings. It is another close round, but Addie wins it. Camila not pleased when Addie is slow to back up after the bell and shoves her back. Camila instantly shoves Addie back. The two them grapple (as well as they can when wearing boxing gloves) until referee jumps in to restore order and issue stern warnings to both.

R4: Adelaide and Camila clearly seething during the break, though their respective trainers (Virgina Madsen for Adelaide and Kelly Carlson for Camila) try to keep them focused. Bell rings and the pair come boiling out of their corners and charge right at each other. Both heave blockbuster rights. Adelaide’s whistles by Camila’s head as she dodges at the last second, but then the O & E fighter’s own right catches Addie hard across the chin. Addie lurching away with a stunned expression on her face. Camila moves quickly to get back in front of the reeling Adelaide and pumps her hard to the body to double her up. Addie trying to protect her head, but Camila is driving her back into the ropes. Adelaide can only cover up and take a seat on the strands as Camila punches away with a frenzy that she has not shown before. She clearly wants to break Adelaide down and send her to the canvas, but Addie somehow stays on her feet though she takes a fearful pounding to the bell. At the sound of the bell, Camila steps back looking frustrated and has to settle for the shell-shocked look on Addie’s face once she has peeled herself off the ropes. Round goes to Camila Mendes in a shutout.

R5: Foxfire corner working hard as Adelaide sits slumped on her stool. Across the ring Kelly Carlson telling her fighter: “You got her. Now finish her!” Camila nods with determination. Bell sounds and Addie stumbles out of her corner. Addie can see Camila bearing down on her like an incoming tsunami wave, but she puts up her dukes and tries to fight. Camila attacking with determination, but not recklessly. She is watching out for Addie’s still-decent defensive jab, but she is circling, looking for the right time and place to unload. It comes as they reach the second minute. Camila has been feinting at the head to hook the belly, now she feints at the belly and down comes Addie’s gloves to cover. BAM! BAM! The “Ol’ One/Two” right cross/left hook combo targets Addie’s chin and Addie freezes in shock. Then its lightning left/right uppercuts to the chin and ADELAIDE KANE IMPLODES! Addie shoots straight down and ends up a smoldering heap at Camila Mendes’ boot tips. Camila gives the shattered Adelaide a fierce victory glare before marching to the neutral corner. Referee moves in as Adelaide is pathetically trying to rise, but her numbed body won’t obey. She is on her knees, covering her face as bitter tears start to follow and she hears:

“EIGHT! …NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUTTTT!!!!”

THE WINNER CAMILA MENDES OF ODDS “N ENDS FIGHT STUDIO DEFEATS ADELAIDE KANE OF FOXFIRE BOXING KO5!

After: Nightmare for Adelaide who finds herself dragging to her feet and dragged weeping around the ring by the smaller Camila. Camila really fired up and gleefully displays Addie several times on the journey around the ring. Finally Camila shoves Addie into the arms of an angry looking Virginia Madsen before going over to chat with some reporters who are now in the ring.

“Why did I act like that towards Kane? Didn’t you see that presser? You saw how she acted in the ring before the fight started—trying to bully me I was ticked off at her and I am darned glad I was able to take it out on her!,” declares Camila. “I know they say that fighting angry makes you fight stupid, but I think it actually gave me extra power in my punches. I really needed to prove myself in this fight and I was not going to let her spoil that. I wanted everyone to know that you mess around with Camila Mendes—you will pay a price. I suppose I ought to thank Adelaide for helping me establish that point.”

Meanwhile, a heartbroken Adelaide Kane tries to wipe the tears as she tries to explain: “It all went so wrong in the 4th. I got so mad at her that I got reckless and she wiped the ring with me. I didn’t go down, but I could sense what would happen in the 5th. I tried to save myself, but it didn’t work. I wanted to win this fight so much and now it’s gone as another defeat. Please, I can’t talk any more. I need to get out of this ring!”

A very exciting flyweight contest. It ended in a thrilling victory for one fighter, but a crushing loss for the other. Camila Mendes; signing looks like a smart move by O & E and she could be rising star if she can keep up her momentum. Sadly, Adelaide Kane’s momentum seems to be moving in the wrong direction. Rumors already spreading about her future at Foxfire, but that organization will only say: “We never comment on internet rumors.”
