Amy Acker vs Caity Lotz (results Lookout! words Anon)
"Management doesn't seem to like rematches very much, so when I get a chance to avenge a loss, I have to make it count," explained Amy Acker, referring to a loss to Caity Lotz earlier in her career. "That fight against Caity was early in my run with PA, so I'm really glad it didn't derail me. But I still want to set things right there."
"Amy is no pushover, but I'm totally capable of beating her a second time," argued Caity Lotz when questioned. "I've only improved my skills and fitness since we first met, and if anything Amy has gone downhill. If she wants to fight I can definitely find time."
While Lotz's claims of her improved skills were soon to be tested, the blonde actress certainly had the look of an athlete on fight night. Dressed in a green sports bra and matching trunks, Lotz showed off an unusually low body fat percentage for an actress, displaying defined arms and abs. Acker, in white athletic wear, smiled and waved to the crowd. The two women faced off in the center of the ring during the ref's final instructions.
Round 1:
Lotz sticks to Acker early in the first round and Acker can't dislodge her. Acker does her best to present a difficult target, but Lotz strikes her sternum after a persistent effort. Acker winces and keeps moving, but can't fully get away, and Lotz frustrates and parries her attacks. In control, the blonde landed a straight right hand to Acker's chin. Acker stood her ground and fought back, buying herself a few seconds, but Lotz would not stay away. Soon the blonde had darted in to sharply strike Acker's jaw again. Overall, the brunette held up decently, but could not get her own offense going.
"I'm nervous but I have faith in Amy. She's tough!" commented Anna Popplewell between rounds.
Round 2:
Lotz attempted to rush down Acker with more limited success, tagging her on the jaw with her left hand in an early skirmish before the brunette beat her back immediately. Lotz, up against a more prepared Acker, scooted in and out trying to pick her attacks with fair success. When both women decide to stand their ground and fight it out, Acker makes a brave attempt but is forced to retreat with bruised ribs.
Round 3:
In the third round Lotz attacked just as hard early on, only to bounce right off of Acker's defenses. Previously, the tall brunette had shown some ability to frustrate Lotz's offense, if inconsistently, and now Acker seemed to have solidified her counter strategy. Acker slipped past a straight punch and nearly landed a strong counter mid round, but Lotz was able to stay safe. Both women struck a slower pace this round, but even so there were several near misses. Neither managed to pull ahead, but even this was an improvement when viewed from Acker's corner.
Round 4:
Acker struck back successfully in the fourth round. She continued to fight off Lotz successfully, slipping her offense in and taking the blonde actress by surprise. Surprise turned to fatigue as Acker managed to repeat her performance, counterpunching effectively and slowly wearing Lotz down. A particularly bad exchange for Lotz saw Acker land several uninterrupted punches on the blonde's face, before weaving and escaping unscathed. Acker maintained control, staying on offense without overextending, and looking potentially capable of landing another painful series of blows. Fortunately for Lotz, the bell gave her a much appreciated break.
Round 5:
After a short struggle early on by Lotz, Acker continued to stay on offense in the fifth round. Early on, Acker managed to interrupt Lotz's swing by denting the blonde's nose with her knuckles. Lotz fliched and her own punch fell short, and while she recovered well, the exchange seemed to set the tone for the round. Acker hit, faded away, and countered Lotz in a careful, restrained fashion. Lotz showed enough respect for Acker's counters to avoid overextending and chasing her too aggressively, but the end result was that the brunette could slowly grind away at the blonde's stamina.
Facing a more subdued Caity Lotz at the end of the round, Acker danced forward, feigning another hit and run attempt before committing to going on offense. Lotz, not quite fooled, was still unable to hold Acker back. The blonde's second attempt to drive Acker off fell apart as Lotz's right fist whizzed by Acker's ear, and Acker landed a strong straight right to Lotz's jaw in her moment of vulnerability, nearly making the blonde actress stumble. Now battling back less effectively, Lotz attempted to back down and reset, only to find Acker in hot pursuit, eager to wear her down further. Barely before the end of the fifth round, Lotz faltered and Acker pounced. The brunette neatly landed a straight armed blow dead center on Lotz's face, and once again began to string together unanswered hits as the blonde actress struggled to put up any resistance. After a series of audible thuds and visible jerks backward, Lotz lost her footing and landed in a seated position in the corner. She kicked her legs and grasped at the ropes for a moment before exhaling and turning her head away from the middle of the ring, where a certain tall brunette was already celebrating the result -- KO5 Acker.
Bruised and slightly swolen, Acker nevertheless manages to put on a big smile for the cameras, bouncing and showing off just how much energy she had to spare. "Caity is a real competitor, but I think the results speak for themselves," she commented. Behind her, Lotz made an unsteady exit with one hand on the ropes for support. "I don't think the great Amy Acker vs Caity Lotz feud really has enough drama to capture the league's imagination, but we'll see what Caity chooses to make of it." Lotz, at the moment, merely expressed a desire to focus on beating the next opponent that came her way.
