RACHEL MCADAMS VS SOPHIA BUSH

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Rachel: 39 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 47-38-1, 25 KO since 2005, Foxfire Boxing

Sophia: 35 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m). 21-19-0, 19 KO since 2005, BurtonandBush

Before: “Why Sophia? It’s not all that complicated,” explains Rachel McAdams at the pre-fight presser. “Sophia came into the FCBA the same year I did, She’s younger, of course, but she 5’ the same as me. I beat her once back in 2008. I want to see if I can do it again. My career in the ring won’t be lasting much longer. A lot of the girls I fought with like Jessica Alba and Elisha Cuthbert aren’t seen around much any more. I decided on Sophia.”

“You saying I’m the ‘Best of What’s Left’?” Sophia inquired with a smirk.

“Oh, you are definitely that, Sophia. I thought about your partner, Hilarie Burton too, but I had the feeling she was more of a manager-type now,” Rachel said.

“You can always ask her,” Sophia says with a surge. “Me? I’m just glad to have another shot at you. I may not have those four bantamweight titles on my record like you do, but I still think I can take you.”

“Now, don’t put yourself down, you did hold the JMD Title, while I, sadly, have never had the proper qualifying equipment,” Rachel said with a sly glance at her modest chest.

Sophia laughed: “Ah, you might not have liked it if you had. You did well enough with the regular belts, You goit to leave something for the rest of us.”

“My title days are over, but I do have fond memories—and some not-so-fond ones., of course, but I want to go out still enjoying the sport. I think we can do that, Sophia. What do you say?”

“Bring your best game, Rache, I’ll certainly bring mine,” Sophia assured her.

“I will see you in the ring,” Rachel said and they shook hands on it.

Come fight night, Rachel was in a red and black one piece with red gloves and black boots. (Black laces for the gloves, red laces for the boots). Her red-brown auburn hair is loose, but wetted down. Sophia in black sports bra and orange trunks with orange gloves and boots with black laces. Her hair is pulled back in a ponytail. Ring instructions go smoothly as does the glove tab and before anyone realizes it, Rachel and Sophia are in their corners. Then the bell sounds and signals the fight is on!

R1: Rachel striking first with smacking hits to Sophia’s flanks as they meet at mid ring and start to circle. Sophia biding her time, flicking out the jab to keep Rachel distracted, and then steps forward with a spearing right/left combo into the belly. As Rachel tips forward from the impacts, Sophia neatly lifts some uppercuts into Rachel’s face knocking her head back. Rachel falling back, but then swings back around and goes in with fast stabbing shots to Sophia’s forehead. Sophia now falls back, but fires out the jab to cover. Rachel working around the jab, finds some more targets in roasting Sophia’s side ribs with steady punching. Sophia trying to swift her aching sides away, but now Rachel licks Sophia’s chin with a swiping right, then hits it hard with the left. Sophia covering up her head and backing away. Rachel works the waistband of Sophia’s orange trunks to the bell. First round is close, but judges award it to Rachel McAdams.

R2: Sophia looking more aggressive as the new round gets started and puts a straight right/left combo into Rachel’s mouth. Rachel recoils as Sophia follows with jolting hooks to the midsection and then gets a surprise right to the jaw in over Rachel’s high guard to put a wobble in Rachel’s legs. Rachel trying to use the jab to counter, but Sophia not that easy to hit as she striking and then pulling back. Rachel’s starting top get lumped up as she struggles to deal with Sophia’s constant movement. Bell ends the round with Sophia winning by a wide margin and Rachel looking badly bruised about the face with a look of frustration on her face.

R3: Sophia resuming her successful tactics of the previous round, but it quickly becomes clear that Rachel has adjusted. She seems to have figured out Sophia’s timing and moves to break it up with punching charges of her own. Sophia finds herself on the defensive, but she works hard with the jab, punishing Rachel about the face until McAdams’ offensive fades. Sophia then counterattacks, punching first to the body, but she is able to swat Rachel’s jaw a couple of times to keep the Foxfire bantam rattled. Rachel fighting back with the jab to Sophia’s breasts and Sophia is lashing back to Rachel’s stomach. Hard trading pushes Rachel back as time runs out on the round. Close round, but Sophia is able to record a narrow win. Rachel looking the worse for war thanks to the face leather she has been taking, but she walks back to her stool with a determined step.

R4: Rachel McAdams comes storming out of her corner and launches a seldom-seen in her ring action blitz attack on Sophie Bush. Sophie is certainly caught by surprise as Rachel bursts upon her with one smashing punch after another to the head and face. Sophia thrown back into her own corner by the impacts and struggles to get her arms free so she can punch back. Rachel just driving her hard using her gloves to pound Sophia’s belly now. Referee finally able to pry Rachel off Sophia who staggers out to the center of the ring. Rachel finally let go by the referee and comes right at Sophia. Sophia goes face-in-gloves to protect her head and tries to back from the relentless leather storm that has descended on her. Rachel working hard drives the dazed Sophia into the ropes. Sophia takes a seat and continues the covering up. Rachel really working the exposed side ribs of Sophia Bush until they are splotched with ugly red marks. Sophia tries to clinch to buy herself some breathing room, but Rachel backs out of range and then drives Sophia back into the ropes. Sophia somehow still standing at the bell, but she takes her time gingerly separating herself from the ropes and then making a slow return to her stool. Rachel looking all fired-up as she returns to her own corner.

R6: B&B corner crew works hard to revive Sophia Bush during the break. She does manage to come out, but she is moving very slowly and has her guard up. Rachel McAdams looking very fresh, comes right at Sophia and drives hard shots into Sophia’s badly bruised side ribs. Sophia shuddering and trying to turn away, but then Rachel goes to Sophia’s belly to wreck havoc with a bombardment of deep, hooks. Sophia gurgling as she folds forward and down comes her high guard. In a flash, Rachel brings a right uppercut crashing into Sophia’s chin. Sophia’s head rips back and her mouthpiece goes flying. Sophia crashes onto the canvas head and shoulders first, then her torso and legs come crashing down. Sophia out cold. Rachel off to the neutral corner. Sophia does stir during the count but she can do nothing more as the count passes her by.

“TEN!...YER OUT!”

THE WINNER: RACHEL MCADAMS DEFEATS SOPHIA BUSH KO6!

After: “I just felt Sophia challenged me in R3 and I knew I had to answer it. I don’t use the blitz very much, but I think that is what made it so effective—she just wasn’t expecting it. I think I defeated her in that round even though she was still standing. R4 was just the finishing touch. Frankly, I think Hilarie shouldn’t have allowed her to come out for R4. She could have been hurt.”

Sophia Bush is stung by Rachel’s comments, though she doesn’t reply until the next day.

“I was not about to quit on my stool,” Sophia fumes. “That’s not my way and Rachel should leave Hilarie out of this. I make my own decisions. Okay, I lost, but I do not appreciate her second-guessing me or my stable. I’m just putting this fight behind me and moving on. Rachl McAdams should do the same!”

Although the fight ran 6 rounds, it was a very fast moving, action-packed packed bout. Rachel McAdams showed she’s still got energy and can pound an opponent into defeat. She looks to head into retirement in good order with this very nice win over a quality opponent.. Sophia undoubtedly disappointed in the outcome, but this is only a setback for her. We expect she;’ll b back on the winning side soon.
