Michelle Keegan versus Elizabeth Henstridge
(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
(Beever's Babes vs Girls Friday)
Intro: Two English flyweights that are struggling to find a win lately hope to use the other as a stepping block, Michelle Keegan and Elizabeth Henstridge fight it out tonight. Michelle is 31 years old; she stands 5'4 and holds a record of 38 wins, 33 by knockout, 30 defeats and she is a former BBU flyweight champion. Elizabeth is 30 years old, she also stands 5'4 and holds a record of 18 wins, all by knockout and 7 defeats. Both women were interviewed at their gyms, with Michelle working the punchbag with her trainer Denise Lewis holding the bag. It is Denise who actually speaks to the press "look guys; I know you need a word from Michelle, but I am sick of you guys distracting her before a fight, so let keep punching hard Michelle and show them what you are going to do to Liz!" Michelle proceeds to hammer the punchbag with thudding punches, sweat rolling down her brow as she works, Denise smiling all the while. "That's what Elizabeth has to look forwards too, Michelle is sick of being on the losing end and Liz is going to get punished for it" says Denise as she waves the journalists out the gym. At the Girls Friday gym, Elizabeth smiles as she finishes cooling down, telling the journalists "I can't believe I actually like workouts now, when I started off here I hated doing this, now well I am in great shape and I love this" But when asked about losing lately, Elizabeth looks to smile it off and replies "well it certainly hasn't been a great time for me, like everything else I do; I will just grin and bare it and look to beat who I face next" She quickly adds "I know Michelle will not be easy to beat, a former champion and I've seen how fit she is, I know I can do this" showing her fists to the camera filming this and nodding to the journalists. Fight night; Michelle jogs out on stage to a loud cheer, she raises her fists in the air as she dances on her toes, before jogging down to the ring with Denise behind her. Her attire tonight consists of a white sports bra, red trunks with white strips down the side, red shoes and red gloves with white thumbs, her hair is in a ponytail. Climbing into the ring; Michelle jogs over to her corner and mounts the bottom rope, flexing her arms as she smiles, hopping down, she shadow boxes as she awaits her opponent. Elizabeth jogs out on to the stage to her own loud cheer, she is wearing a black shirt with "master of the sweet science" on the front, a big smile on her face as she heads down to the ring. As she reaches the bottom of the steps; her coach Taryn helps her with T-shirt, taking it off to reveal that she is wearing a black sports bra with white trim, matching trunks, black shoes and gloves, her hair is also in a ponytail. Getting into the ring; Elizabeth jogs over to her corner, getting a hug from her cutwoman Eva Carneiro and Taryn, before taking a deep breath and beginning to warm up. Soon enough the fighters are brought to the ring centre, where they square up to each other, eyes locked as they touch noses and invade the others personal space. When asked to touch gloves, they step back and touch them up as they looks keen to get started, the referee signals for the bell to begin 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1: Both women start off testing the other out, with the same reaches it leads to an early stalemate as the fighters jab and parry punches. Michelle looks to push the tempo first; dipping under a right and landing a jab followed by a right cross, Elizabeth retreating back and finds herself under fire from Michelle's punches. Using her head movement to dodge punches; Elizabeth slips under a straight and lands an overhand left to turn Michelle's head, allowing her to come back at her opponent. The fighters move to the ring centre; where they start going toe to toe, a classic flyweight exchange occurs as the fighters stand to trade. But Elizabeth looks to back out of it and as Michelle comes forwards, Elizabeth shows why as she snaps a jab onto the lips of Keegan and slips under a left cross to work the body with three punches. Michelle looks annoyed as she has to retreat behind her guard, Elizabeth now is the one to push the action, using her jab to keep the guard up, while her right goes to work on the body of the stunning "Our Girl" star. Late in the round; Michelle shows her own quick movement to parry a straight and slips inside to land a right to the body and a just misses with an uppercut. The bell rings as the fighters circle and trade single punches, the crowd torn who won that round, with the fighters themselves just trying to look all business, but their faces show that they look a little concerned they were not able to control the fight from the off. Round 2: Both settle into moving and trading early on, jabs seem to be both their main weapons as they try to work out gaps in the others defence. Elizabeth this time looks to push the pace of the fight, she throws a steps in to work the body of Michelle, with both women nearly bumping heads as they trade on the inside. Michelle steps back and uses a shoulder roll to dodge a straight and lands an uppercut that knocks Elizabeth onto her heels. Forced to cover up; Elizabeth is driven onto the ropes by body shots ripping away at her, as her back hits the ropes, she comes firing back with two punches smacking her opponent on her face. After Elizabeth moves off the ropes, the fighters start landing more cleaner shots as they open up more, Elizabeth boxes more off the back foot as Michelle looks to keep the pressure on Henstridge. Late in the round; Michelle lands a jab to the lips of Elizabeth, then slips under a right cross to come back up with a right hook that puts Elizabeth back on the defensive. The round ends with Michelle allowing herself a small grin, Denise can be heard telling her "that's much better, she hasn't the weapons you do, out smart and outfight her" Elizabeth on the other hand nods to Taryn as she heads back to her corner, the coach knowing she doesn't need to tell her that wasn't great, just calmly pointing out things she needs to work on. Round 3: Michelle looks to keep on the front foot, coming on more aggressive as Elizabeth looks to stay on the outside, both landing stiff shots to the others face as they move around the ring. As Keegan looks to step in with a left and right cross, Henstridge dips under it and lands to the body, coming up with her own uppercut that pushes her opponent onto her heels. Now Elizabeth is giving Michelle a taste of her own medicine, knocking her back onto the ropes with three punches smacking Michelle on her face. Michelle fights back with both women slugging it out; sweat flying off them as they turn the others head around, Elizabeth has to step back when she gets caught with a right hook. But as Michelle looks to push; she gets caught with a straight through her gloves and a left/right cross to her cheeks that forces her behind her gloves. Elizabeth keeps the pressure on as she now steps forwards, drilling her punches into the gloves of Michelle, who can't find a way from her guard to fight back as seconds tick away. The bell rings to end the round with Elizabeth looking the happier now, jogging back to her corner with a big smile on her face. While Michelle gets told off Denise "come on! I've told you that you are better then that, don't make me a liar!" Telling her how to go about getting back control. Round 4: Elizabeth looks to have her confidence back as she comes on the more aggressive, both fighters settle on the inside and trade. Michelle looks to throw uppercuts that Elizabeth leans out the way of, countering with a straight off the nose of Michelle, adding two more punches to the face that force Michelle behind her gloves. The "Agents of Shield" star pushes forwards, keeping Michelle stuck aimed towards the ropes with her punches crashing into the gloves of her opponent. Michelle tries to dip down to come forwards, but she mistimes it as Elizabeth steps back and drills a double jab onto the top of her head. Elizabeth begins feinting as she has Michelle looks tentative, Henstridge lands another double jab to push Keegan towards a corner. But as Elizabeth tries to bully Michelle in the corner, Michelle dips down and uses her left shoulder to shove Liz back, THEN COMES UP WITH A BIG UPPERCUT THAT CATCHES ELIZABETH FLUSH AND PUTS HER DOWN TO HER BACKSIDE! The crowd look as stunned as Elizabeth; who sits and shakes her head as the count begins 1...2...3...4 the bell rings to save Elizabeth it seems as Taryn rushes out to help Elizabeth up and back to her corner. The Girls Friday corner crew working on getting Elizabeth fully woken up for the next round, Elizabeth nodding as Taryn berates her for getting sloppy. In the opposite corner, Michelle shakes her arms to them limber as her eyes are locked onto Elizabeth, knowing she has to come out hard and fast. Round 5: Michelle goes straight for Elizabeth; watching for any counter punches as Elizabeth is covering up and clearly looking for a chance to recover. Elizabeth tries to come out her guard with a right cross that sails over the head of Michelle; who comes firing back with a right to the body and a left hook up top. There's a definite wobble in the legs of Elizabeth; WITH ANOTHER UPPERCUT FINDING A WAY THROUGH HER GUARD AND A LEFT HOOK SENDS HER TUMBLONG TO HER SIDE! As the count begins; Elizabeth is blinking but has a glazed look to those eyes, 1..2...3....4 Elizabeth rolls to her back and lays spread eagle out 5...6...7...8 spitting her gumshield out 9...10 she is done!
Winner Michelle Keegan KO Round 5
After: The crowd erupts for Michelle, getting her second win of the year and understandably she looks overjoyed as she raises her arms in the air with a winning smile on her stunning face. Looking down at Elizabeth; Michelle clearly wants this to be a moment remembered as she nudges the ringside doctor checking Elizabeth out and mounts her beaten opponent. Flexing her arms as cameras record this moment, something she will want rivals to see and know she is on top form. Of course the Girls Friday crew are not happy, Taryn pulls Michelle off; with Michelle just smiling at her before jogging back to her corner to get cleaned up. Elizabeth gets helped from Taryn and Eva back to her corner, the moment hits her as she starts to come out her daze and she puts her head down, looking embarrassed after looking strong but getting caught too easily. Taryn doesn't look too happy either, her face is beaming red and she tosses the bucket in the corner to the center of the ring, getting a telling off by the referee as it nearly hits them. Soon enough after she is cleaned up and checked on; Elizabeth leaves the ring with help from Eva acting like a clutch, her fans cheer her as loudly as they always do, Elizabeth knows she has to change something or will continue being stuck being knocked out. In the ring; it is a much happier place then outside it, Michelle gets her hand raised and a pat on the back by Denise, her fans chanting her name making this moment the more sweeter. After leaving the ring, pundits are asking themselves if this will be the moment Michelle pushes forwards again, she is loved by lots of people and knows she can be a champion, can she do it in the FCBA? |
