Danielle: 23 YO, 5’3 (1.60 m), 17-5-0. 17 KO since 2014, Pretty Little Punchers

Before: “Excited? I am EUPHORIC!” a happy Danielle Campbell exclaims to the press in the pre-fight get-together. “I mean this is a dream come true for me! I am proud to point out that I have now won 15 fights in a row. I am only one fight away from wearing that belt. I will even get the pleasure of taking it away from Vanessa. Lookout Boxing is no friend of the PLP and it would be so special to win the title from one of them.”

Vanessa Hudgens looks down the table at the bubbly DC and wrinkles her nose: “Oh, please, you think you’re the only fighter at this table? I am undefeated in 7 fights this year. I can’t wait to wipe that stupid smile off your face when I bring your dreams of a title belt crashing down.”

“Well, aren’t you snarky. You getting nasty in your old age?” snipes Danielle.

“I have always been ‘nasty’ as you will find out,” Vanessa assures her.

“Now I want to take the title away from you just to see the sour look on your face,” DC jibes.

“You are such an annoying snot,” Vanessa snaps. “I wish Stella had knocked your block off.”

“Oh, yes, I remember that,” Danielle says brightly. “You were really ticked off I beat your baby sister. I get it now! You are defending the Hudgens Family Honor. That is if you actually have any honor in your family!”

“Leave my sister out of this! Stella will get back at you on her own one of these days. I am defending the title belt so it doesn’t fall into the clutches of a loudmouth, stupid-lucky rookie like you!”

Now Danielle turns red in the face: “How dare you call me ‘stupid’!”

“I called you ‘stupid-lucky’ it means that you got that winning streak through sheer luck and you’re actually a stupid boxer. Something I will show to everyone when I beat you down!” Vanessa says getting hot herself.

“Maybe you better have Stella come along because there is no frickin’ way you beat me down all by yourself!” DC cries.

“I don’t need Stella’s help to beat you down., Just watch and see!” Vanessa fires back.

Danielle jumps up and makes a charge at Vanessa, but FCBA Security seems to have expected something like this might happen. From out of nowhere beefy gentlemen appear to get between Dani and Nessa. Dani is dragged from the stage. Vanessa watches smirking, Bows to the audience and makes her departure.

A lot of interest in this fight and it only increases when the FCBA Front Office announces that a Special Guest Celebrity Referee has been assigned to this fight: former Unified Flyweight Champion (2003 & 200) Salma Hayek! Salma announces she plans to wear the one-piece black and white striped suit with the knee-high socks.

“I think I have the body for it,” she says cheerrfully. “I hope it doesn’t distract the fans from Campbell and Hudgens. After all, they are the ones fighting for the belt.”

As for Champion and Challenger: Vanessa is in a white string bikini with beige trim, white gloves and boots with beige laces. Her hair is in a double pigtail. Danielle is in a black bikini with black gloves and boots. Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Salma makes it clear to both that she will be running a tight ship in this fight. Danielle and Vanessa nod politely, but their eyes are showing hostility toward one another. The ring instructions are finished and there is a SMACK (rather than the expected tap) of the gloves before the fighters retire to their corners. Then the bell rings.

R1: Danielle is very aggressive in the opening minutes. She finds Vanessa chin quickly and punches it hard. Nessa backing up, gloves raised protectively as she tries to shake off early bell-ringers. DC pressing the champ hard to the body now with some hard, nasty hooks to those hard abs. Danielle working Vanessa’s torso steadily as she knows it won’t be easy breaking the champ down to the body., Vanessa firing back the jab, but Dani dodging a lot of them as she keeps up the body attack. Late the round, Vanessa gets a little careless with her high guard and DC slips in a right uppercut to snap the chin back. Vanessa falls back all covered up until the bell rings. Definite tremble in the Hudgens gams as she makes her way back to her corner. DC has a big smile on her face.

R2: Danielle clearly eager to get back in close and resume the attack on Vanessa’s body, but the champ is ready for her. DC smacked hard to the face and jaw by Vanessa’s powerful counters. DC now the one on shaky gams as she recoils from the unexpected attack. Vanessa stepping forward to clout Dani to the head. Dani ducking down behind her gloves as she tries to steady herself. Vanessa now going to the body with vengeful fury. Danielle punished hard to belly, ribs and breasts. However, Dani gets her jab going in the last half of the round and catches Vanessa to the mouth. Vanessa bleeding from busted lower lip, slacks off the attack and Danielle tries to counterattack. This sets off a flurry that climaxes with Vanessa nailing Danielle with a cracking right to the jaw. DC lurching off to one side in distress. Vanessa scrambling to catch up with the wounded challenger, but DC covering up and Vanessa can’t get in the punch to put her down. It’s a close round but Vanessa Hudgens pulls it out. Vanessa gets in the dazed Danielles face and can be heard telling her:

“That hurt? I got more where that came from!”

Danielle pushes Vanessa back. Vanessa starts to return the push, but Salma Hayek steps in an sternly orders both back to their corners. Dani looking a lot less dazed as she glares at Vanessa and stomps to her corner. Vanessa looking pleased with herself as she heads for her stool.

R3: PLP’s trainer Nia Peeples speaking urgently to DC. Ringsiders can’t quite make out the exact words, but she seems to be advising Danielle not fight angry. Dani still angry when she comes out, but it is a cold, calculated anger as she moves to in on Vanessa. Vanessa going for DC;s head with her opening punches, but DC ducks under them and pops back up with a right to the chin that sends Vanessa reeling backwards! Crowd roars as DC charges in on the confused champion and starts raining punches on her from all directions. Vanessa cringing under the storm of leather, finally goes face in gloves and allows herself back to the ropes where she takes a seat. DC no longer cool, just flails away wildly at Vanessa , clearly trying to drive her to her knees, However Vanessa has a firm seat on the ropes and her head covered. She’s being banged hard to the body and just riding this out. Bell rings and Danielle steps back panting hard wityh sweat dripping from her glistening body. Vanessa leaves the ropes slowly, but gives DC a defiant look. Referee Hayek wisely steps between the two fighters and keeps the situation under control. DC wins the round in a shutout.

R4: Lookout corner working hard on Vanessa during break. It seems to have worked as Vanessa comes off her stool with a surprising amount of energy. Danielle a bit slower out of her corner, she must have run down her batteries in R3, observers whisper. Vanessa strikes quickly with strong right hook deep into Danielle’s belly that doubles the challenger up with a gurgle. Just as quickly is going to the head with crisp-crossing rights and lefts. Danielle’s head swiveled first one way and then the other. Danielle now goes face in gloves as Vanessa tries to herd her into the ropes, but Danielle shows surprising skill in making an evasive retreat while remaining covered up. Vanessa not giving up., finally manages to cut off the ring and Punch DC back into the strands. However the effort has used up so much time, that Vanessa gets in only a few flurries of body punching before the bell rings and Salma Hayek moves in to stop the champ. Danielle looks shaken, but she still gives Vanessa a scowl of defiance that irks the champ. Once again Selma Hayek has to step in keep things under control. Vanessa has to settle for answering Danielle’s R3 shutout with a R4 shutout of her own.

R5: Now it is the PLP corner that works hard to get their bruised fighter ready for the next stanza. DC is off her stool with more energy than some had expected, but Nessa seems pretty fast away of her corner. The two meet at mid ring and start circling as they exchange a steady number of punches. Shots are ranging from head to body, both fighters clearly looking for openings. Vanessa then tries to slip in under a Danielle right to the head and bring her own right popping into the challenger’s chin. However, Dani jerks her head out of the way and lashes down with a counter right hand that smacks Vanessa hard between the eyes. Vanessa knocked back on her heels by the blow and DC strikes with crackling right/left combo to the chin. Vanessa now stumbling back in disorder and Danielle leaps forward to fire a ripping right uppercut into Vanessa exposed chin. DOWN GOES VANESSA! Crowd screams with excitement as Vanessa is lifted off her feet and sent crashing to the canvas like a puppet with cut strings! DC jumping up and down in excitement until Salma Hayek points to neutral corner and Dani hastily heads to it. Salma then turns to Vanessa who is now in a seated position with a “What-Happened?” look on her face. Vanessa soon enough realizes what has happened and shakes her head. She starts to rise at “SEVEN!” and is fully erect at :”NINE!” Danielle looks annoyed, but then shrugs and heads back towards the champ. Vanessa doesn’t seem inclined to engage DC and maintains a tight defense through the remainder of the round. Danielle wins the round by a wide margin and books a knockdown on her side of the judges’ cards. Vanessa looks far from finished as she marches back to her corner.

R6: Vanessa trying to recover lost ground by an aggressive attack early on, but runs into a solid series of jabs to the face from DC. Vanessa shifting her ground, trying to set up attack, but then Danielle strikes first with an overhand right to the cheekbone. Vanessa’s head whipped around and a shudder goes through her body. DC trying to follow up to the head, but gets blocked by Vanessa’s high guard. DC quickly moves to pounding those abs and she’s making the champ look uncomfortable. Vanessa trying to force Dani back with the jab, but it’s not discouraging the challenger. DC backing Vanessa around the ring. Nessa staying clear of the ropes but she’s looking dominated to the bell as Danielle takes the round by a wide margin.

R7: Danielle smiling and chatting happily in her corner during the break. Vanessa scowling, but seems be focusing on the task at hand: getting back into this fight! Bell rings and Vanessa moving quickly to center of the ring. DC moving fast, but Nessa is faster and quickly bangs Dani’s face back lightning straight rights and lefts. Dani falling back, trying to jab back, but Vanessa moving from side to side and bouncing punches off DC’s head until she’s got the challenger ducking. Then Vanessa pounds DC to the belly until she’s got Dani hunched up and gasping for air. Then she bangs more shots off the sides of Dani’s head. Dani getting shutdown and worked over in the closing minute, though she is still on her feet. Bell rings, but Vanessa doesn’t stop until Salma Hayek forces her back. Vanessa looking over Salma shoulder as a grey-faced Danielle turns away and shuffles her way back to her stool. Vanessa definitely back in this fight as she takes R7 wide.

R8: More work for the PLP corner and Nia Peeples trying to talk to Danielle. Dani nodding, but she is slumped wearily on her stool, not an encouraging sight. Vanessa upright on her stool, pounding her gloves together and seen telling corner crew: “I’ve got her now!” Bell rings and Vanessa all but leaps off the stool. She charges Danielle hard and tries to overwhelm the challenger with a frenzy of punching. Dani backing away quickly, forcing Vanessa to pursue and trying to use the jab to slow the champ down. This chase goes on for a while, but then Vanessa fires a hard right to the temple. Danielle freezes in shock and Vanessa swings the left to the jaw. Danielle lurches away. SUDDENLY DC’S LEGS CRUMBLE! SHE FALLS TO HER KNEES AND THEN PITCHES FORWARD ONTO HER FACE! DANI CAMPBELL IS DOWN! Vanessa strides firmly to the neutral corner while Salma Hayek moves in to count. Danielle is starting to stir and pushes herself to all fours. Then she tries to stand, but shudders and drops back to all fours. She tries again, but cannot get herself to stand. “EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...,OUT!”

THE WINNER AND STILL FCBA FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION VANESSA HUDGENS DEFEATS DANIELLE CAMPBELL KO8!

After: Vanessa mounts the turnbuckle and lifts her arms as she roars in triumph. Crowd showers her with cheers and she drinks it all in. Then she looks over to see Salma Hayek assisting Danielle Campbell to her feet. Vanessa hops down from the turnbuckle and hurries over. She grabs Dani by the right arm.

“I’ll take over now,” Vanessa informs Salma, who mutters something in Spanish and steps away. “Okay, Danielle, now you get to tour the ring and hear people cheer because I whipped your overrated ass!”

Danielle seems choked up. She her eyes tightly closed as though to shut out the horror of losing to Vanessa, but tears are trickling down her bruised cheeks.

“That’s it, Dani, let those tears come, I want everyone to see I’ve reduced you to cry-baby status!”

Danielle lets out a groan of misery and tries to pull away, but Vanessa’s grip is too strong and then the right arm is pinned behind her back. Vanessa then moves him in a slow walk around the ring, stopping to posing for photos and waving to the fans. Dani silent but the tears are rolling hard by the time Vanessa shoves her into Nia Peeples’ arms.

“Thanks for the fight, Dani, I’ll tell my sister how good it feels to make you cry!”

Later, Danielle is still upset and will only say: “I hate Vanessa Hudgens! I really do! She didn;tg have to rub it in like that, but she did! She’s an awful person.”

Vanessa Hudgens just laughs when she is told of the remarks: “? I told her I would crush her dream of winning the title and I did. Making her cry was just icing on the cake!”

Back and forth bout with plenty of excitement and intensity to please the fans. Referee Hayek certainly had her hands full keeping order. The ill-will between Vanessa and Danielle kept breaking out but never got out of control. Great win for the champ as she turns back one of the hottest young flyweights in the current standings. Painful loss for Danielle, but she showed she belonged the in the same ring as the more experienced Vanessa and we suspect she’ll be getting another shot at those title belts. As for who is next for Vanessa Hudgens. Lookout Boxing has been very closemouthed so we can only wait and see who gets the nod.
