BEFORE:
"Look, you don't have to be a genius to understand this," says Liv with a smirk. "One of Front Street's prized prospects just stubbed her toe, and they're trying to get her back on track. But. They made a mistake in choosing me for the opponent."
"I'm tired of hearing about Kostek," says a hard-eyed Antje. "She and I are going to see one another again. But. Somebody needs to pay right now. And that's going to be Liv Tyler."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Walk This Way' by Aerosmith, and that can only mean that the lovely Liv Tyler from East Harlem is on her way to ringside..."
McCarthy: "And, Tyler is exactly right. The only reason she's here is to give Front Street's Dancing Hooker an easy win after she choked on pay-per-view..."
O'Dell: "Tyler wasting no time getting down to the ring. She climbs in and is helped off with the robe. Liv still looking plenty good in that black number we've seen before. And, that's 'Heads Will Roll' by Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, and here comes 'The Scandinavian Stunner', Antje Utgaard!"
Tess: "And, as everyone seems to be pointing out, Utgaard is coming off the first loss of her career, and one that management didn't like at all. No question, the pressure is on her in a big way tonight."
Cassie: "No doubt about it, because there have been LOADS of rumors surrounding Front Street potentially bringing in a new welterweight via trade or signing."
McCarthy: "Well, they could find someone better than THIS no-talent, THAT'S for sure!"
O'Dell: "Utgaard into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that stars-and-stripes bikini she likes, and we're about ready to go. Time for some picks. Tess likes Antje. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Utgaard's on her way out and Tyler will send her there. Liv."
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "First split panel of the night. Let's see who's right. Ladies setting up at gunnery range early, looking to work those long left hands. Both fighters have plenty of reach, so it's no surprise they want to extend on their punches, and that's exactly what they're looking to do early..."
McCarthy: "No surprise at all, Jenny."
O'Dell: "Little bit of a feeling-out process happening right now. Not a ton of aggression being shown, as the welters do some early recon. Lots of movement, feet, head, hands, shoulders. Probing defenses, looking for openings in defenses. Good combination, Tyler right there. Got a solid right home."
Tess: "Not the best of starts for Utgaard right now. She's looking a little tentative in there."
O'Dell: "Maybe a bit. No question the stakes are pretty big for her right now. Obviously, she's coming off the first loss of her career, one that did NOT make management happy. Follow that up with an upset loss tonight, and things might get ugly. Ten seconds to go in the first. Ladies going to box this out at range right to the bell. Close round. Tyler."
Cassie: "And, Liv gets the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Second begins like the first ended, ladies boxing at gunnery range. Tyler a veteran who's been at this 17 years. No question she knows the craft, and you're seeing some of that right now, as she plays both the timing and geometric games against a younger, far-less-experienced fighter..."
McCarthy: "THIS is why I picked Tyler. That last loss has gotten in this kid's head."
O'Dell: "Not sure about that, Mac, but, for the moment, Liv doing an excellent job in there. She's showing excellent defense and making things very difficult on Antje. Younger woman staying patient, working that left hand, trying to locate with it and follow on with DOWN GOES TYLER!"
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiigggghhhhhtttssssss. The party's ohhhhhhverrrrrrr...."
O'Dell: "And absolutely BOOMING right hand from Antje and Liv just ragdolled to her back. Utgaard quickly to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Absolutely no movement from Tyler, and I don't expect to see any. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner, in one-punch fashion is 'The Scandinavian Stunner', Antje Utgaard!"
Tess: "Well. That might quiet a lot of rumors. For the moment, anyway."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Antje Utgaard, and, Antje, there was a lot of talk surrounding you going into this fight..."
Antje: "A lot of nonsense, and I wasn't going to pay any attention to it, because, here's what I KNOW. I have more physical gifts than ANY welterweight in the FCBA. Period. End of story."
Tess: "You started a little slowly tonight, but, from what you've just said, all the stuff people have been talking about had nothing to do with that..."
Antje: "Not at all. She's a veteran fighter. I wanted to do some recon tonight, feel her out a little...and, I wasn't worried about losing a round doing it...because this was NOT getting to the cards." |
