Ginny Gardner vs. Natalie Alyn Lind
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Pair of lovely young blonde bantams, with Gardner making her pay-per-view debut. But, if Ginny's at all nervous about that, you can't tell in the pre-fight. "I've already fought...and beaten...better girls than her," says The Dollhouse's beauty. "I mean, Holland's won a lot more fights, Rexha's a lot bigger and stronger, and Duff's a former champion. So, yeah. I'm going to knock Natalie out on the sand, and there's nothing she can do about it."

Lind, however, not at all impressed by her opponent. "She's wrong about one thing," says the Foxfire blonde. "There IS something I can do about it. And, I'm going to."

ROUND ONE:

If there was no respect in the pre-fight, there's plenty as the first gets underway. Both blondes doing a lot of recon as they move about, hands up, sand flying bare feet bouncing. Gardner's got plenty of reach here, and it becomes clear early that her plan is to use it. She wants to box Lind, perhaps wary of the power that's proven able to stop opponents before or very near half time. For her part, Lind doesn't struggle with Gardner's length. Instead, the younger blonde angles like a veteran, bobbing the head, keeping the guard up, picking off jabs, getting to spots where she can get punches on target and letting her hands go. Gardner managing the aggressiveness well, however. Making Natalie work hard for her opportunities and doing plenty of scoring of her own while Lind works to get into position. At the bell, it's fairly close, but it's Gardner who takes the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

More of the same. Both fighters told by their corners to stick with it, and both do. Lots of hard work being put in by the young bantams. Both glistening with sweat in the hot sun as the sand flies as fast as the punches, and, in spots, even faster. Again, great respect being shown. Nobody wants to be the one to make a mistake here. So, everyone's very sound. Nobody's taking any chances. This is all about tactics and technique, and, surprisingly for fighters this young and this inexperienced, both blondes seem plenty comfortable executing this game plans. Final minute of the round sees some extra aggression from Lind. Natalie steps to, backs Ginny up with a couple of hard flurries, forces her to the defensive for the first time. Gardner quickly extricates herself from the situation, but the points scored turn out to be the difference in a close second. It's Lind this time, and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Gardner makes an adjustment, and it's a big one. Taller blonde begins double-tapping the jab, and it makes all the difference in the world. What Ginny's able to do is HOLD Natalie with the jab, and, in doing that, she stops Lind from angling to her spots and keeps her right on the end of Gardner's own punches long enough for hard, follow up rights. It's not long before Natalie's thrown onto the defensive, taking heavy, accurate fire from her fellow blonde. And, shortly afterward, Lind's being backed up, unable to hold, um, sand in the face of a spirited attack from Ginny. The Dollhouse beauty's both spirited and effective as she comes forward, strafing Natalie with power punches that snap back the shorter blonde's head and, eventually, leave her up against the cables covering up and taking. By the bell, Gardner's in complete control, and she's won the round wide to take the lead for the second time, 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Ginny pressing her advantage. Lind can't seem to get out of reverse. Gardner has the range down and she's calling in the heavy artillery and NATALIE'S HURT! A BOOMING right hand from Ginny sends Lind stumbling along the sand and Gardner is ALL IN! Ginny letting the hands go, hammering away at the listing SS Natalie. Lind backed to the cables and taking again, this time with plenty of time left in the round. Referee looking in closely as Natalie puts the body on sale and Gardner begins buying in bulk, thumping away at the midsection and ribs before going back upstairs looking for the shot that either turns out the lights or gets the referee to put an end to the proceedings. Desperate times for Lind, who's showing Savvy beyond her years by doing just enough to keep the ref at bay, but, she's taking a pounding. Sturdy legs pass the test, though, and, at the bell, Natalie's still standing. But. It's Ginny wide again and up 39-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Gardner onto the attack immediately. Lind still looking wobbly. Ginny stepping to behind the left hand, letting hard rights go, again looking for the shot that will end this thing. BOOM! Right-hand counter, Natalie and GINNY'S HURT! Now it's Gardner stumbling backward after a scintillating right hand from Lind. Natalie shifts into offensive mode immediately, pouring forward and pouring a steady stream of fire at the gobsmacked Ginny. Gardner now against the cables and taking a pounding with the referee on a hair trigger. Lind turning the tables completely, going body as Ginny keeps the guard high, ripping the ribs, mashing the midsection. Gardner screaming into her gloves, but keeping them up, desperately trying to survive to the bell. Natalie back upstairs, ROCKS Ginny with a right hook. Gardner clinches, holds on, literally and figuratively. Lind stacks her against the ropes, goes back to the body until, finally, the bell rings. It's Natalie wide in the fifth, but Gardner's survived and still leads 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Now it's Natalie looking to take advantage of a wobbly Ginny, and Lind is sparing no expense to do so. She's all OVER Gardner, right from the opening bell, letting the hands go, sitting down on punches, backing up her fellow blonde with flurry after flurry of hard shot. Gardner all defensive, keeping the guard high, giving ground, trying to stay off the ropes. She's trying to use the jab to slow Lind down, but Natalie not having any, walking through it and letting the heavy leather fly. BOOM. Right hand, Lind and Gardner's steppin' in fence post holes. Natalie POUNCING, winging away with both hands and LANDING A SHORT LEFT HOOK! DOWN GOES GINNY! Gardner dropped to her left side in the sand by a NASTY left from Natalie. Lind quickly to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Ginny feebly trying to push up off the sand, but can't get close to doing it. It's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Natalie Alyn Lind!

AFTER:

Lind grinning broadly in the aftermath. "I'm a girl for all seasons and all kinds of fights. Traditional. JMD. Beach. You name it, I can do it. That's why I'm the FUTURE of the bantamweight division. Because, there's nothing I can't DO."
