BEFORE: "Who cares she hasn't won a fight yet? I'm due an *easier* one after going heads-up vs Amanda frickin' Righetti!", Dutch stunner Romee Strijd argues her case in front of the reporters before storming out of the conference room amid loud cheers from the packed crowd. Even Tess Valmore has turned up to listen what the 5'11" tall blonde has to say but the verdict is still out on Strijd's elite prospects.
Meanwhile Erin's record looks better upon close scrutiny, she's battled pound-for-pound behemoths Kate Upton, Hannah Ferguson AND Front Street middleweight-bound Antje Utgaard. However she disappeared from the radar following a loss to lightweight Barbara Palvin on the Victoria's Secret War In Heaven tournament twelve months ago. Life-span of most FCBA free agents - let alone those who got fired from a paid membership - is usually short and going 0 for 5 can shake anyone's confidence regardless of the elite match-making. Erin is simply DONE with serving as proverbial cannon fodder in this league and her road to recovery starts tonight!
Romee Strijd wears an orange bikini set and navy blue gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Erin Heatherton wears a black one-piece swimsuit and golden gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a similar sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1:
Lioness Club of America head trainer Claudia Schiffer joins forces with Romee tonight but it's Erin who makes the early push, seemingly trying to avoid Olga Kurylenko and Brooke Hogan's fate - both whom couldn't even last three minutes against the Dutch blonde before. The head-hunting attack is probably a little too predictable and no one suspects Erin of such raw power quality but she bursts through the sand to at least force the older blonde into a proper defensive scamper. Romee acts like another swift blast doesn't help her cause but she allows Erin to land too many punches regardless and even a quick uppercut combo doesn't stop the American from keeping her drive going. She almost traps Stijd on the ropes alas gets gut-checked and then ends up on her knees after Romee pushes her down! Huh What was that? Romee kicks some sand straight into Erin's face and now things get a little heated but the clock expires before Heatherton can get back at her rival again.
Round 2:
Perhaps Romee truly thinks Erin is simply a tomato can here? She checks back when the American tries to connect with the head-hunting and weaves around with a goofy grin on her face while Heatherton begins to lose her temper. However she fails to properly nail Strijd and struggles to match her footwork as well which seriously dents her stalking display going forward. Meanwhile the Dutch model prefers to slug it out from behind the guard while working on her mobility and that seems to sit really well with coach Schiffer too. BLONDE! Magazine reporter suspects this is a glorified sparring session for Romee but her questionable approach almost backfires when Heatherton whacks her up the alley and camps inside her rack in the closing seconds. Strijd rests on the ropes but suddenly finds no room to stretch her elbows and soaks up unneccessary abuse that leaves coach Schiffer deservedly frustrated at the bell.
Round 3:
Romee finally kicks into a higher gear and hands Erin a vicious reality check during the opening minute. The American initially tries to close her down but thinks better off it when a crisp left/right combo rattles her from both flanks. Romee keeps landing rapid fire assault over the top and the slugging exchange just isn't what Heatherton loves best, she ducks underneath it for a while but becomes stuck in the loose surface and gets pounded back to the ropes when the Dutch model gives it a proper go thereafter. And that's what send Brook Hogan packing last year! Erin eats more of these laser sharp hooks on her lips and can't make the high guard stick. She bends awkwardly to the side and gets pinned onto the ropes while Strijd checks down and hammers her on the midsection leaving little room for error. Ugh! Erin just can't escape the heat and lets it verbally know to everyone around the area so it's almost a let off when she avoids going down in the sand which was more than deserved according to coach Schiffer and the ringside experts. However Romee has plenty of time to adjust her range and she knows it too!
Round 4:
Heatherton seems a little spooked when Romee blasts out of the gate and flies in with another hooking combo that pierces the high guard. Ugh! Erin remains stuck in neutral when the fellow model tears into her high and while Strijd was never the speed demon across the regular surface, she makes Heatherton look even slower, statesque even. And that's not a good sign for any boxer out there. Erin can't escape the heat and can't match her foe's tempo either so she simply gets clobbered back & forth until she begins to develop that shaky knees syndrome... And when Romee powers through with a one-two uppercut on the jaw it's suddenly all over welterweight-style! Erin folds onto her knees and drops spread eagle into the sand! KO4 Romee Strijd!!!
AFTER: Some fans unfamiliar with Miss Strijd's style can barely believe what just happened but the fact remains this girl can HIT a punch or two alright! She high-fives Claudia Schiffer while the medical crew is busy attending to the fallen Heatherton who needs to be revived for a while and then dusted off for a good measure. She still has a mouthful of sand when the verdict is announced and earns herself a shoulder bump from Strijd who (un)officially dismisses her as a jobber: "Told ya this will be EASY!"
Erin might not be as bad as her record indicates but she's run into a dead end on her road to recovery and the match-making demons are yet to be banished. There's literally nothing the unfortunate free agent can be smiling about right now other than a looming appearance fee from the Asylum finest!
