Adriana Lima versus Jill Wagner (Lightweight Tournament)(Words: O & E / Results: Lookout!)

Before: Lima’s former stablemate Bar Refaeli relegated Jill to Asylum fodder: “Beating an O&E fighter is just the right way to start off this tournament. I’m going to show I’m better than just that one fight, and Lima is just the first one to get in my way!”

R1: Jill showing long classic lines, right hand at her cheek, left slightly lowered, ready to jab, but Adriana's not impressed. First minute pressure from Lima, but Wagner adjusts. She had been backing straight up, now she's pivoting to the side, turning Addy, preventing her from getting into that lashing rhythm. Jill using her legs, drawing out Lima's rushes, tamping her down with the jab, slowly imposing some order and keeping brunette at arm’s reach. Final minute, Wagner in control, banging away jabs to chest and face, setting down on whistling right crosses at the bell, looks to be finding herself a groove.

R2: Adriana getting through with the sauce, stubby jab answers Jill’s classy stick, blonde‘s rhythm broken and Lima’s moving in tough with her head, hooking hard to ribcage. Wagner to the ropes, palming Adriana’s shoulders, trying to spin off, but Brazilian’s stepping over smartly and keeping her prey pinned. Lima choking off avenues of escape, pounding away on the ribcage, Wagner increasingly desperate, looking to clinch. Down the stretch, Adriana brawling her way through Jill’s guard, hammering the ribcage, shoving and mauling--she turns into a lashing right to the chin that sits the blonde dazed on the ropes. Lima piling on, lands a few clubbing lefts and rights to the top of the heads as Wagner lolls hurt at the bell.

R3: Adriana resolute, hardhearted as she walks Jill down. Wagner trying to skirt the perimeter, but Lima’s whittling down the ring, jabbing stiff and well, stabilizing the blonde, getting her hands up: Addy detonates a withering right roundhouse against Jill’s ribs, carving in behind the elbows to cramp her up in agony. Wagner stooping forward, extending her arms to push Lima off: big mistake as brunette’s able to twist on hips, rip the hook underneath, putting Jill’s butt up in the ropes, getting big-girl, slogging at her waist and ribs, then pushing up to stack, curling in robust uppercuts to bull Wagner back against the ropes. Jill’s trying to move her head, bending at the waist, but she’s getting battered. Drowsy, helpless Wagner reaches to clinch, Lima clips the left uppercut off the left foot, brings the right foot forward to power the right uppercut, then steps almost casually to the side as blonde sprawls face first to canvas. It’s over: Jill relaxing in KO’d slumber—Adriana Lima lifts mitts, struts away with a decisive KO3 to enter the next round in the tourney!
