Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse
BEFORE: It seems like only yesterday that we were just toasting a big one to Katheryn Winnick’s victory over Candice Patton, and here we are yet again, interviewing the blonde sensation as she prepares to face-down one of her toughest challenges yet.
We’re backstage and the press room is packed with all manner of activity, which stirs up again once the two challengers in tonight’s bout take to the stage, waving to the cheers of their fans at the back of the room. Winnick smiling when one particularly overzealous fella yells out from the back, “I LOVE YOU KATHERYN. MARRY ME!!” to which the blonde simply chuckles and brushes the compliment aside with a flick of her hair.
The press corp settles down soon after, and that’s when the serious questions start free-flowing. Winnick responding to one first, indicating her motivations for this fight.
“So, this is a fight I’ve been looking forward to and preparing for for quite a while now. Olivia might be going through a rough year in terms of boxing performance, but despite losing her last seven fights, she still has a 31-24 record. That says a lot. She’s a veteran and a former champion. Take a look at her--” Winnick pauses and glances to her left, to Munn lounging in her own chair with a friendly eye-roll. “Except for being totally gorgeous….She’s in amazing shape, and I’m not taking any chances against someone like her. I’ll have to bring my A-game and hopefully it will be enough. This can be my 8th consecutive win… and I’d very much like it to be. I’m right behind you, Ems!” she chuckles, referring to her stable mate Emma Roberts who’s just achieved her 10th win in a row tonight. “So, yeah, I’m looking forward to an awesome, tough fight!”
While the compliments were flying one direction, when it’s Olivia’s turn to respond, she’s a little more coy about praising her opponent. The veteran actress and model has been around the block plenty of times herself, and doesn’t seem to have formed a concrete judgement of Katheryn’s true personality or skill just yet.
“Well, Katheryn forgot to mention I’ve been fighting a lot of 20 year olds this year - something she seems to be avoiding, and that’s probably smart on her part. But now that I’m fighting someone in her 40’s, it’s a whole different game. I know she likes to brag about age not making a difference, but I can assure you - it does. She’s certainly not Bella Thorne, and I’ll prove it tonight. We might seem pretty evenly matched, but the truth is…I’m just better in almost every conceivable way. Definitely looking forward to my first win of 2018!”
Perhaps Katheryn should be used to this kind of brown-nosed comments coming her way by now. She can be nice all she wants - and kudos to her for that - but it’s something most of her co-stars would gag at with abhorrence. Tonight though, Katheryn giving her opponent a coy smile as they meet at the podium to shake hands.
Hours later, it’s fight time, and both girls are greeted to wild applause as they take turns entering the ring. Katheryn in usual Dollhouse attire, a white and black sporta bra and matching short tights showing off her fit yet sexy body, blonde hair up in a messy high ponytail. Somehow managing to maintain sparkly clean each time she dons those colours. Olivia showing us what a 38 year old body can be look like if you take perfect care of it: stripping down to tiny black micro-bikini and showing off her tan-lines and toned figure as she dons white gloves, black hair in a pretty, neat bun behind her head.
Referee asks both women to bump fists and they do so. There may be no out of the ordinary animosity in the pre-fight but let’s see what happens once the bell rings! HERE we go with ten rounds of professional Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1: Uh oh - what has Katheryn conjured up here? The blonde eating an early flurry straight to the face, when Munn came in directed at her hard and fast, striking like a cobra before she could react. Not a good footing to start off your match, and further case in point: Winnick thrown into reverse gear from the opening bell, trying to fend off more punches that hound her head. Olivia Munn certainly still a dangerous foe to many girls in the division - the former Bantamweight division title holder might be on the wrong side of 30, but looking NOTHING like a woman her age. She keeps up the pressure on Winnick throughout the second minute as well, keeping her busy with defense against steady jabs aimed high and occasionally poking low. Winnick, to her credit, swipes back when she sees an opening herself between the swings, that early combination certainly having stunned her briefly before she shook her head and retained focus. Olivia’s advance halted briefly in the final seconds, when the Doll barrels into her body-first a couple of straight hands, banging off the tummy. With a groan, Munn pauses mid-assault, but Katheryn doesn’t get a chance to capitalize when the bell rings on her parade.
ROUND 2: Here we go with the second… Katheryn employing her unique defensive strategy well now - she ain’t gonna be surprised with another Munn-like blitz... not if she can help it. Olivia still with that cunning smile on her lips as she advances regardless - that grin showing that she’s up to no good. She doesn’t opt to rush in blindly at Kat, perhaps knowing full well of her counter-punching capabilities. Instead, she confounds her strategy by staying at a distance and shooting punches at the head once she gets in range, before darting away like nothing ever happened, and leaving Winnick eating the dust with missed swings of her own into the empty air. This Munn character certainly a conniving one, able to switch up her offense and defence and leave her opponent looking like a damned fool. Winnick however choosing to stick with her guns, and more kudos to her for doing so: a brazen charge at Olivia would’ve just been what she ordered on a silver platter. Kat keeps her distance and employs similar jabbing strategy, and this way, she at least manages to score some punches of her own, not allowing Munn to take home the crown just yet.
ROUND 3: And yet, it’ll be a mistake to say that Katheryn is the one dominating this fight so far, even though she’s on home turf. Olivia is the one running away with points thus far, with Winnick struggling to catch up with her. Indeed, Dollhouse trainers by the ringside looking increasingly worried that Munn might truly be the toughest challenge to grace their girl’s doorstep just yet, evident from the amount of pressure she’s putting on Winnick to confuse her repeatedly. Katheryn succeeding in covering and blocking most of the incoming jabs as Munn circles in and from the side with lunges again, but whenever Kat tries to swing back a hook at the face, the former Bantamweight champion manages to swerve or weave clear, before slapping more leather into the blonde’s lips as payback. In this way, Kat is slowly being pushed and bullied across the the canvas, soon finding herself in the danger zone when Olivia manages to snap an unlikely uppercut into her chin - POW!! - that’s how close she’s managed to infiltrate the Doll’s defences here! More bad news for Winnick, who goes stumbling back! ANOTHER one-two hook combo catching her on the cheek would have put the lights out for ANY girl. This is ALMOST the case here, with Winnick thrown down to her side with a groan from the force of the punches. It’s an embarrassing knockdown for the blonde, leaving the blonde sputtering and heaving on all fours, but luckily for the Dollhouse darling, not a knockout!
A knockdown’s a knockdown for Munn’s corner, sending her prematurely celebrating with an arm held up in the air as she saunters back to neutral corner with a smirk. Can Winnick truly turn things around by this point in the fight? She certainly seems to think so. Referee counting out by the side, but the 40-year old has a look of pure determination on her face, wants to finish this fight, and finish it good. She gets back up by the count of 8, and the round ends before Munn can attempt another knockdown.
ROUND 4: Carmen Electra of course doing her best to clean Winnick up in between rounds, also whispering furious advice into one side of her ear and trying to convince her not to give up just yet. If it's any consolation, Katheryn has none of those intentions anyways, springing up from her stool when the bell rings, as though that previous knockdown and all the punishment suffered thus far haven’t made a dent on her spirit. Olivia still with that cocky smirk on her face, but suddenly forced to dodge wildly, limbs flailing, as an incoming blonde takes the fight to her instead! Olivia no longer grinning as her body starts taking a pounding with strapping hooks landing on her sides left and right, Winnick’s advance catching her off-guard, to say the least. Munn firing back with vengeance, of course, but Katheryn’s drive isn’t to be denied this round, as the Doll continues to batter hooks into her opponent’s ribs, then the chest, as she drives her back until they’re clinched up along the ropes. Brief respite as both women continue banging and digging leather into the body, but there’s little doubt about who is in real control here. Ring officials of course doing their due diligence, declaring this round a draw from the sheer number of blows exchanged. Regardless, it’s Winnick who manages to stem the tide right here in the fourth round, putting her foot down in the sand and telling Munn to bring it on!
ROUND 5: Munn looking scarred slightly as she hesitates with the aggression in the fifth, and both girls begin slow, circling each other and jabbing at close openings. Munn scoring one or two long hands off the body, but Winnick biding her time well, powering back with straight hands whenever this happens, catching Olive RIGHT on the face after one such terse exchange! Olivia’s face almost disappearing in leather, the sudden and shocking punch shoving her head backwards and her body following after! Olivia ALMOST went down right there... if it weren’t for the ropes saving her back!!. Still, we wonder whether Munn almost immediately regretting NOT going down in the first place, with Winnick QUICK to pounce on her hapless form, jamming fist after fist into her body, jerking and shutting her senses down from the blows on her stomach, before the hooks start battering at her guard above, again blowing her upper torso leftwards and right from the sheer power Winnick is bringing to bear! Bell rings and unfortunately for Kat, Olivia STILL standing, albeit looking like a train wreck with her arms dangling by the sides and her mouth hanging wide open - it’s a far cry from her earlier, cockier self!
ROUND 6: The tables seemed to have turned swiftly just like that, a reversal of roles now as Katheryn trying to mount pressure and secure a knockdown for herself. It’s not like the blonde to have her mind preoccupied with payback, of course, and we’ve never seen Winnick this focused before as she takes some confident forward steps towards Munn, targeting the middle of her guard with straight hands piercing clean on the center, each blow rocking Munn backwards and kicking her resolve further down the ladder. Munn is the one in clear trouble when Winnick bends low and digs another left-right combo into her abs, bending her over on the spot with a low groan. Kat wasting no time after, pulling back a right hand before letting it SAIL right down the middle, like a hammer from hell as it SLAMS clean into OlIvia’s face, effectively FLOORING the brunette from the force, bowling the poor woman over onto her back!! Olivia just lying there, sprawled on the mat with eyes-shut, spread-eagled and COMPLETELY knocked out COLD! Referee doesn’t need to start a count, taking one good look at Munn’s rising and falling chest – the brunette is in dreamland and there’s little suggestion that she plans on getting up from *that* one! He waves it off!!
Official Decision: Katheryn Winnick defeats Olivia Munn via KO6!
AFTER: A brutal KO and even Katheryn struggling to contain her emotional win here tonight as she raises a hand, both happy and relief flooding her face. This was one hell of a tough fight, and if it’s any indication, a gateway test for the blonde to go on to even greater things!
Munn getting ignored in the corner as she struggles herself to sit up with her back against the ropes, senses still not forming clearly as she shakes her head side to side. It’s too bad for the former champion - many of her fans in the audience still praying and hoping that one day, she’ll have her due once more.
But as for tonight, it belongs to Katheryn Winnick.
“I’m just glad it all worked out for me. We’ve been training to face Olivia for weeks… She’s not someone you take lightly. She’s a former champion and I definitely FELT that tonight,” Kat laughing at the cameras, a genuine smile on her face as she continues. “I’m hoping to get Kardashian in here next month… It’s about time I get my hands on that b*tch! After that….I have a lot of plans….one of them is getting in the ring with Evangeline Lilly…now THAT would be one hell of a fight!” Katheryn ends with a wink towards the camera, waving to her cheering fans one last time before making her way backstage with another impressive win to add to her record!
