(Free Agent vs Free Agent)
Intro: The opening bout of tonights special heroines card sees Krysten Ritter look to give Wallis Day a hard time on the latter's debut, the fight taking place in the United Center in Chicago.
Krysten is 36 years old, she stands 5'9 and holds a record of 1 win, that was by knockout and 5 defeats.
Wallis is 24 years old; she stands 5'8 ½, this is the debut of the Londoner, whose best known for her time as Nyssa-Vex on the TV show Krypton.
The fighters were asked for a word in their training camps by FCBA Network interviewer Lucy Liu, with Krysten finishing up battering a punchbag.
Lucy asks about her upset win over Gemma, whether she thinks it will be the beginning of her career now, Krysten laughs as she replies "do you see the offers flying in, when nobody notices you and you suddenly knock out one of the elite, well all those who thought I was an easy payday run and hide"
Asked about Wallis; she quickly answers "she at least has guts, thanks to my TV show Jessica Jones, I'm now someone who knows how to kick ass in that ring, gone are the days I was a soft touch, now I can knockout the best, that's unlucky for Wallis though as I ain't taking it easier on her"
Krysten adds "this fight is purely about me keeping my name out there, maybe one of the supposed elite will take a crack at me after I am done, I don't bank on it though"
While Wallis finishes up sparring with a local fighter as she trains in the World famous Gotham gym, getting a nod from her coach on a good job before she heads out the ring to talk to Lucy.
The well spoken Brit is asked what got her into celebrity boxing, she answers "well I've always been an athlete, I don't know if you know my life story, but I was so close to going to the Olympics in London, swimming was my sport and I would have been in the team, I decided that acting was where my life was meant to be and to fill that void I have been doing martial arts training, boxing just seemed the right thing to do"
When asked about Krysten, she replies "she is tough; I saw her victory over Gemma Atherton, I know she knows martial arts too from her show, so it isn't like she is a fake right? I feel I am physically better then her though, I am younger and with all my training, it gives me the advantage"
The final question is on goals, she answers "it might seem daft to some but I want to be in next years New Blood tournament, hopefully this fight showcases what I can do and the training you get for those fights would be awesome, then of course the lightweight title would be nice" grinning as she finishes and shakes Lucy's hand.
Fight night; Krysten heads out down the aisle wearing a black sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, with her brunette hair in a ponytail.
She looks up for this as she jogs down to the ring punching the air to warm up, she climbs into the ring soon enough and heads to her corner quickly to warm up properly, while discussing tactics.
Wallis comes out not long after; she is wearing a blue sports bra, union jack flag designed trunks, blue gloves and shoes, with her short blonde hair.
Stepping into the ring; Wallis bows to each side of the ring, before smiling as she jogs to her corner, looking ready to go as she shadow boxes like her opponent.
The referee brings the fighters together at the ring center, steely gazes from both fighters as the shake their arms at their sides to keep them loose.
Asked to touch gloves; respectfully they do it and jog back to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1: As the fighters come out; Wallis doesn't look afraid to get into it with Krysten straight away, both women getting their heads down as they test out the others body. Krysten though surprises Wallis by stepping back, then lands two punches straight onto the nose of the blonde to back her up a step. The experienced Krysten moves around the outside of the ring, using her jab to score points as Wallis is too open when trying to close the gap. Maybe Wallis is focused too much on making a statement tonight then just winning, meaning that she is landing glancing blows compared to the more disciplined Ritter. Who controls the action; leaning out the way of a left hook, scoring her own right/left straight onto her cheek as she moves to the side. Late in the round is where Day settles down, exchanging jabs with Krysten as they circle, with Krysten looking happy enough to fight this style and tempo. The bell rings with Krysten nodding over to her coach, while Wallis has her own coach shouting at her to get her head in the game and to not let nerves dictate her. Round 2: This time around Wallis looks more calmer, both women start off as they ended the last, on the move and exchanging stiff jabs that find gaps in the others defence. The British fighter though shows good flexibility to slip under a straight and land a left under the ribs of Ritter, before coming up top with a right. Wallis forcing Krysten to fight in tight, both landing good shots on the inside, before Wallis shows she has learned a trick from Krysten, stepping back out the way of a right cross, she comes firing back with a left/right straight onto the lips of the brunette. Krysten finding herself having to fight off the back foot, with Wallis taking the ring center and driving punches up top or to the body to keep her opponent back. But as she looks to step in with a left cross; Krysten sidesteps her and lands a right across the cheek of the younger opponent. Krysten driving Wallis back behind her guard late in the round, landing her punches off the gloves of the blonde as she keeps on the move. The bell rings with both girls glaring at each other, then head back to their corners with Wallis's coach looking happy, telling her that's what they want to see. Round 3: The fighters both start off more quicker; coming out to the ring center and throw more punches in bunches as they move on their toes. Krysten leans out the way of a left, then digs two straight punches into Wallis's face, knocking her opponents head back to the delight of her fans. The American seems to be sticking more towards the left of Wallis, drilling her punches into the cheek of the Krypton star to keep her on the outside. When Wallis swings a right hook; Krysten dips down and lands a right straight onto the abs, followed by an overhand left that knocks the younger fighter on the back foot. Wallis can't seem to get out from behind her guard, with Krysten smacking the gloves of hers nearly back into her face. A jab pierces the guard of Wallis, with a right hook catching her on her cheek, making her stumble back with Krysten following up with more punches off her face. Wallis pulls Krysten into a clinch to stop the assault she is under, the referee stepping in to pry them apart, Krysten all smiles as she keeps the rookie behind her guard for the remaining seconds of the round. With the end of the round; Wallis looking annoyed as she heads back to her corner, her coach kneeling in front of her and giving her a talking to. While across the ring; Krysten looks happy, especially as she sees the marks on the face of her opponent, her coach praising her as they chat. Round 4: Krysten keeps on the front foot, Wallis is forced to the outside of the ring, with the brunette looking to bully her around the ring. Till Wallis slips under a jab; coming in with two hooks to the body and an overhand right to knock Krysten back a step. The momentum swings again as Wallis fights her way to the center of the ring, moving her head and upper body more to make Ritter miss more. Wallis catches Krysten with an uppercut to push her onto her heels, with Krysten finding herself getting beaten onto the ropes. Now Krysten is the one to pull Wallis into a clinch, they can be seen insulting each other as the referee struggles to break them apart. Once apart Krysten gets some control back as she lands several punches off the face of Wallis, while she keeps on the move on the outside of the ring. Till Wallis dips under a right and comes in close to work to the body, driving Krysten back to the ropes; where they trade hard shots. A left slams into the nose of Ritter, with a left and right hook smacks her across her cheeks to knock her back behind her guard. The bell rings with Wallis jogging over to her corner with a big grin, her coach telling her to keep this up as she sits on her stool. Krysten meanwhile takes a breath, trying not to be frustrated that she can't keep her opponent under wraps, her coach telling her that the fight is still in her hands. Round 5: Wallis looks to build off the last round; landing several jabs off the face of Krysten to ward her to the outside of the ring. The Brit keeps Krysten on the defensive as she keeps her work rate up, Krysten looking for a way back on but is finding herself being driven back each time she comes forwards. Till Wallis tries to land more power punches; KRYSTEN DIPS UNDER A RIGHT HOOK AND NUDGES BACK WALLIS WITH HER LEFT, AN UPPERCUT CATCHES WALLIS ON HER CHIN AND SHE IS SENT ONTO HER BACKSIDE! Krysten cockily grins at Wallis as she has her hands on her hips, the referee nudges her away to begin the count, 1...2...3...4 Wallis shakes her head to clear it, 5...6..7 punching the canvas as she is annoyed with herself, before shoving herself up to beat the count at 8. Wallis has to get her head in the game quickly as Krysten looks to finish this now, the American has her stuck behind her guard and moving around the outside of the ring. Several punches mark up the face of Wallis further, with her left eye starting to look a little puffy, Krysten notices it and keeps targeting it. The bell rings to end the round with Krysten telling Wallis "you're out of your league" laughing as she heads past her to her corner. Wallis sits down with eyes full of fire, telling her coach "what a bytch!" Her coach tells her to pay Krysten back then for putting her on her arse. Round 6: Krysten this time is the one who is now pishing the pace from the bell, Wallis keeping her guard tight to protect her left eye as she is herded around the ring. The brunette throws jabs to try to create an opening to strike through, but Wallis is showing great defensive movement to dodge punches and counter with single punches. A missed right by Krysten leaves her open to an overhand right that opens a cut above her left eye, making Krysten cry out and retreat. Now it's Wallis turning the screw, banging her fists into that cut to make Ritter cry out each time and cover up as best she can. Krysten shoves Wallis and both let their hands go, desperation looks to be taking over as they throw bombs to try to knock the other out. It's Wallis who wins the exchange as she dips under a right hook; slamming a straight into the body of Krysten, then an overhand left and a right rocks Ritter back. With the final part of the round seeing Krysten getting rocked onto the ropes, she has her arms up but that cut looks a mess as blood runs down her cheek. The bell rings to end the round with both women ignoring each other to head back to their corners, Wallis bumps her fist with her coach before she sits down, knowing she has hurt her opponent. Who across the ring is getting her cut patched up; the ringside doctor is standing nearby to check the cut will be OK, they seem happy with it as they tell the referee to continue. Round 7: The fighters both come out trading single punches, with Wallis feinting to open up Krysten to a right around the guard of the brunette to her eye. Krysten howls out and is open to more power punches, Krysten looking stunned as she is backed to the ropes, where Wallis keeps her pinned with punches banging off the face of Ritter. Who tries to fight her way off the ropes, BUT AFTER MISSING WITH A LEFT, THEN A RIGHT HOOK SLAMS INTO HER CUT, A LEFT HOOK FOLLOWED BY AN UPPERCUT THAT SENDS KRYSTEN SLIDING DOWN THE ROPES! The referee nudges Wallis back now as she shouts "that's what a bytch like you deserves!" 1...2...3...4 Krysten holds her left eye with her right and turns to her side in tears, 5...6...7...8 Krysten spits out her gumshield and 9...10 is counted out!
Winner Wallis Day KO Round 7
After: If this is an audition for the next New Blood tournaments, well Wallis may have earned her way into them with this hard fought win.
Wallis leaning against the turnbuckles in the neutral corner she was standing in, a big smile on her face, even as she will have a hell of a shiner on her left eye.
While Krysten has her coach by her side to help her sit up, her cut is worked on by her cutman as she looks down at the canvas.
Wallis stands with hands on her hips and yells at Krysten "you are right that I'm out of your league, I am going to be a champion and you can continue being a bottom feeder bytch!"
Krysten scowls at her but can't deny that she got beaten by the better woman in the end, watching Wallis head back to her corner with arms in the air makes her say "what a c***" to her coach.
Who help her up after she is cleaned up; she leaves the ring with their help as Ritter looks a little shaky still, her coach trying to keep her spirits up by telling her that she was so close, but she has her head down as she goes.
While in the ring; Wallis bows to each side of the ring, getting a pat on her head from her coach as Wallis is told how good a job she did.
After getting her hand raised, the winner flexes her right arm as she grins at her fans, before she heads out the ring with a spring to her step.
Wallis seems to have big plans, it'll be interesting to see how far she can go as she gives the fans one last bow at the top of the aisle, then heads off to get cleaned up and go out to celebrate. |
