POPPY DAYTON VS SASHA PIETERSE
Results: Lookout Story: Archer
Poppy: 27 YO, 5’6 (1.68 m), FCBA: 3-1-0, 3 KO since 2016, Girls Friday
Sasha: 22 YO, 5’6 (1.68 m). FCBA: 9-10-0, 8 KO since 2014, Pretty Little Punchers.
Before: “It’s pretty late in the year to be making my 2018 debut,” says Sasha Pieterse with a smile, “but I am glad to be making it. After all, I have a new show due out next year (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: THE PERFECTIONISTS) so I thought I’d better get out here. I don’t know much about Poppy Dayton, but if Girls Friday signed her see must be good. That’s all the better. I don’t want to be making my return against some jobber-cupcake. I just want all my fans to know I am feeling great and ready to win!”
Poppy Dayton smiles slightly when it’s her turn at the podium: “I hate to be the one to spoil your return Sasha. Well, truthfully I don’t hate it, I want to win my 2018 FCBA debut and you’re the one I need to beat, so I guess spoiling your return in part of the game.”
“You are just too polite,” Sasha said sarcastically.
“One of my more charming traits,” Poppy said.
“I hope to add another ‘charming trait’ : the sound of your body bouncing off the canvas when I flatten you,” Sasha replied with an unpleasant smile.
“I just hope the ring can take the impact when your ‘stocky body’ hits it,” Poppy retorted.
Sasha flushed red: “You are going to be sorry you mentioned that you skinny bytch!”
Poppy looked innocent: “I was just pointing out a physical fact. I meant no insult.”
“Right,” Sasha said dismissively. “and don’t think I will forget it.”
“Perish the thought,” Poppy said with a smirk clearly pleased to have irked Sasha.
The press conference ended rather abruptly after these remarks, but the ill-will was quite evidence when Poppy and Sasha met in the ring. Sasha was in a silver and white one piece with silver boots and gloves (white laces). Her blonde hair was in a French braid interwoven with white and silver ribbons. Poppy has gone with a black one piece with white gloves and boots (black laces). Her hair is in a simple ponytail.
Poppy looks Sasha up and down: “You going as The Snow Queen for some Halloween Party?”
“I at least have some flair,” Sasha says, “you went with dull, boring Basic Black.”
“Won’t make any difference when I’ve pounded that silver suit into a bloody, sweaty ruin,” Poppy sniped.
“Oh, I see why you went with black—it will hide all the bloody that will dripping down on it when I pound you black, blue and bloody,” says Sasha clearly unleashing some pent-up frustration.
“You may talk fiercely, but it will do you no good against my punching,” Poppy fired back. “You will a steamy pile of bloody blonde when this is over!”
“Ladies, please!” the referee interrupted. “The time for dissing each other is over. Let us get down to business. This is a boxing match not a catfight.”
“So sorry, sir,” Poppy said in an apple-polishing voice.
“Yeah, sorry,” Sasha growled but managed to stick out her tongue at Poppy when the referee had turned away. Poppy looked ready to take a swing at the blonde, but the referee was giving her a stern look so she subsided. The ring instructions actually went well, but the glove “tap” turned into a test of strength as Poppy and Sasha rammed their gloves together and tried to shove each other back. The referee intervened with and gave them both a stern lecture before sending them to their corners with sullen looks on their faces. Shortly thereafter, with the fighters in their places, the bell rang,
R1: Poppy out quickly and goes right at Sasha. Sasha looks sluggish as Poppy circles around her firing out a steady stream of punches mostly to the body. Sasha not liking having her torso worked over and tries to strike back at Poppy. Poppy lets her come forward, then smacks her hard in the mouth to send Sasha recoiling back. Sasha tries again and does manage to get some vengeful hooks into Poppy’s ribs. Then Poppy stops the attack with a deep hook to the gut that doubles Sasha up and then brings uppercuts up into Sasha’s face. Sasha falls back with her face blotched and swelling. Sasha goes defensive down the stretch but Poppy keeps up the pressure to the bell, Round goes to Poppy Drayton wide.
R2: Sasha showing much more aggression in this round as she storms in close to Poppy and starts pounding her to the body (special attention to the ribcage). Poppy seems to have some difficulty fighting in close, though she counters with strong blows to Sasha’s ample breasts and her midsection. Two of them are very close and even bouncing off each other’s bodies at times with audible smacks. Sasha’s elbows moving like pistons as she continues to pound Poppy in the ribs. Poppy giving ground slowly, fighting stubbornly but then Sasha flashes an overhand right that catches Poppy between the eyes. Poppy’s legs shudder and she stumbles back. Bell rings, but Sasha has pulled out a narrow win in a hard-fought round.
R3: Now Poppy is on the attack as the new round opens. She swivels Sasha’s head with a solid right to the jaw and jerks the blonde’s head back with a left to the chin. Sasha falling back in apparent confusion, trying to use her jab to keep Poppy back, but Poppy is pressing hard. Looks like Poppy is trying to work Sasha back into the ropes. Sasha must realize it too because she tries to fight her way back to mid-ring. Poppy blocking her way with more body blows, but Sasha hanging in there. Poppy now starts bouncing punches off the sides of Sasha’s head , but Sasha not moving, though she counters less and less as she tries to protect her head rather than strike back. Poppy able to pull out a close win in the round.
R4: Sasha moves out to mid-ring as soon as the bell rings and starts battling it out with Poppy. Poppy now circling, striking at Sasha from unexpected directions, trying to keep the blonde off balance. Sasha seems to be having some difficulties with Poppy’s tactics as she is getting steadily banged up as Poppy dodges the counters. Sasha finally makes a late surge at Poppy, trying to get at the brunette’s chin, but Poppy counters with a barrage of hooks to the belly. Sasha shudders to a stop and is doubled. Then Poppy unlashes a right cross to the jaw and a left hook to the chin. Sasha tries to take a step forward, but DOWN GOES SASHA. Sasha’s knees have buckled to deposited her onto all fours. Poppy smiles and trots over to the neutral corner. Referee moves in to count. Sasha crouching on all fours, breathing hard and shaking her hand in an effort to clear it. She pulls herself together and rises to be firmly erect at “EIGHT!” Fight resumes and Sasha shows fight as she battles Poppy with jabs to the ribcage. It’s enough to keep Poppy from finishing Sasha off this round, but she obviously wins theround by a wide margin.
R5: Poppy out with vigor as she tries to finish Sasha off this round. Sasha hunched up, firing back the jab to Poppy’s ribs as she falls back. Poppy getting more aggressive, she’s trying to land the knockout punch to the head that will put the blonde on the canvas and keep her there. Sasha reading these would-be blockbusters, ducks under the blows and then comes roaring up with a crushing right/left uppercut combo to Poppy’s chin. Poppy caught flush and her legs are suddenly all-a-tremble. Sasha snarling as she fires blockbusters of her own that crash hard into the drowsy Poppy’s head. Then another uppercut combo to the chin! POPPY DRAYTON SPRAWLS ONTO HER BACK! Sasha raises her arms in victory, but then remembers to head for the neutral corner. Sasha looking anxiously as Poppy pushes herself up on her right arm as the referee’s count climbs. Poppy pushes herself into a crouching position, but when she tries to rise further she loses her balance and falls forward, cheek resting against the canvas as the count marches on…
“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YER OUT!”
THE WINNER SASHA PIETERSE DEFEATS POPPY DRAYTON KO5!
After: Lucy Hale, Danielle Campbell, Ashley Benson , Shay Mitchell, and PLP Communications Director Autumn Reeser all rush out to congratulate Sasha Pieterse. Sasha happily accepting her teammates hugs and kisses as well as the cheers of her fans. However she is also keeping a close eye on Poppy Drayton who has been assisted back to her stool to be checked out by th Girls Friday medical staff. As soon as Poppy shows some signs of recovery, Sasha is out of her gloves and across the ring.
“You mad fun of me, Drayton, time to pay for it,” Sasha commands.
“You beat me, wasn’t that enough?” Poppy asks sullenly, but she rises to her feet.
“No, it wasn’t,” Sasha says and gets a tight arm around Poppy’s ribs. Poppy winces. “Good, I wanted to remember my working your ribs.”
“That’s not what beat me,” Poppy snaps,
“But those were my favorite punches because they reminded you your skinny body couldn’t protect you from me,” Sasha says and forces Poppy around the ring on a Walk of Shame.
Poppy won’t lower her head, but has to wince every time Sasha pokes her in those ribs. She finally loses her temper about halfway through and pushes Sasha back. Sasha pushes Poppy back into the ropes. Sasha pins Poppy against the strands, then climbs on to the lower ropes and rubs her big bosoms into Poppy’s face, then holds them there. Poppy struggling, but can’t escape until she slowly goes limp. Sasha raises her arms again drawing cheers from many fans, but boos from others. Sasha. Hopes down and lets Poppy slide down the ropes to end up in a sitting position, chin resting against collarbone, sleeping.
Girls Friday forces caught by surprise by smother are slow getting to ring, but they finally appear: Taryn Terrell with Clara Morgane, Ivana Baquero and Hilary Rhoda close behind. Sasha sees them coming and quickly rejoins her own PLP teammates as they make a strategic withdrawal before the GF reinforcements can reach them.
Sasha Pieterse showed signs of ring rust, but rallied against heavy pressure from Poppy Drayton. Poppy may have gotten a little too anxious to finish Sasha of in R5 and ended being the one counted out. Fun fight (even without the post-fight antics) between two infrequently seen bantams. Hopefully, this will allow fans to see more of these two and see if Sasha can build from this win while Poppy tries to bounce back from a loss that was painful in more ways than one. |
