Karlie Kloss vs. Behati Prinsloo(Words: Fates / Results: Lookout!)

“I know that she’s a great model, but the fact is, she can’t fight. I’ll take her down to .500, and she’ll only go down from there.” Karlie tells her interviewer before the fight. “Besides, she’s already had a rough year. No reason to give her anything to be thankful for in the final few months.”

“I’m thankful to have a stable again, and hope that I can fight more frequently now that I am back with an organization. Now, as for Karlie,” Behati pauses, letting the words hang in the air before continuing, “the fact is, she may be younger and slightly bigger, but at the end of the day, I have to prove myself in my first fight with Fates. The management took some risks on all of us, and I want to make sure that those risks produce results. That means taking care of Kloss, one of the top welters right now.”

The two exchange pleasantries before the bell, but once it rings, the demeanor on their faces change and they look ready for business.

R1: Behati and Karlie cautiously step towards each other to start the fight, neither wanting to make an early mistake in haste and yield an advantage to her opponent. Kloss feints to her left and Prinsloo bites, and Karlie punishes her with a stinging shot right to the Namibian model’s gut. Behati backs off, grimacing a bit, and Karlie lets out a wry smile. The two models start circling each other, and trade jabs for the second minute. In the third minute, Behati goes on the offensive, rapping a pair of quick shots to Karlie’s midriff before sending a quick jab that splits Karlie’s guard and finishes off with one to Kloss’ jaw. Karlie staggers backwards and spends the rest of the round dodging Behati outside of some well-placed deterrent punches. At the end of the round, Behati takes it on points (close).

R2: After the break, both women jump up and are looking forward to getting back into the fight. Karlie eager to make up for last round, and lands a few glancing blows on Prinsloo’s chest, forcing Behati to try and keep her distance. Kloss keeps pursuing, but never landing a clean punch with much force through the first minute. Midway through the second minute, Prinsloo changes tactics, and fires a quick pair of punches into Karlie’s gut and chest before backing off. Kloss does not get fazed though, and keeps on pursuing Behati around the ring, finally landing some clean punches to the fellow model’s ribs, forcing Behati to let out a small squeal of pain. For the rest of the third minute, the two models trade blows as both women try to gain an edge over her opponent, but without success. The bell signals the end of the round, and Kloss evens up the score by taking the round (close).

R3: Kloss jumps out of her corner faster than Prinsloo, and immediately starts trying to corner Behati into the ropes. Behati pops quick jabs to Karlie’s face, keeping the taller model at bay. Kloss isn’t pleased with the shots to her face, and throws a feint to her right, trying to get Prinsloo to bite when the American gets drilled by a hook from Behati, staggering her. Prinsloo follows up, but Kloss manages to cinch and prevent Prinsloo from doing further harm until the referee separates the two women. The two women start circling again, and Behati throws a punch towards Kloss’ face without much intent. Karlie dodges the punch easily and connects with a jab to Behati’s belly, but she quickly eats another hook from the Namibian model, and this time she can’t clinch. Prinsloo quickly corrals Kloss into the ropes, and all Karlie can do is cover up and hold on for the final twenty seconds of the round while Behati rips body shots. After the bell, Prinsloo takes the round (wide).

R4: While Kloss came out of her corner ready to go in the third, it’s Prinsloo in the fourth, trying to build off of her solid previous round. The two women circle, and Behati quickly dashes in and out after throwing a punch, most of which just harmlessly bounce off of Karlie’s guard. On her fourth dash at the beginning of the second minute, the Namibian feints with her left and then swings with her right, but only hits air as Karlie pivots and sends a brutal jab right to Behati’s belly, winding the model. Prinsloo tries to retreat, but Kloss follows up with a quick one-two combination right to Behati’s face, and the older model goes down! Karlie already to a neutral corner, and the ref starts his count. Prinsloo is in a daze and she shakes her head as she gets back to her knees by the count of five. Six. Seven. Prinsloo gets one leg under her. Eight. Behati gets the other under her, and the ref checks in. She nods and waves him away, and then he lets the fight get back underway. Karlie spends the final minute trying to corral Behati into the ropes and finish her off, but she only can make pseudo-solid contact as Prinsloo just counter-punches everything thrown at her way. The bell dings, and Kloss takes the round (wide).

R5: Behati quite slow to get out of Fates’ corner, trying to hold the grimace off of her face as she approaches Kloss for another round of fighting. Karlie immediately jumps out and tries to pick up exactly where she left off last round, looking for the win, and rattles off two jabs that find Behati’s chest, forcing her back. Prinsloo dodges Karlie’s third jab, and the two women circle each other again. Karlie moving much more quickly, and trying to corner Prinsloo, but the latter moves just fast enough to get out of the way. In the second minute, Behati changes tactics and connects with a left hook right to Karlie’s jawline, staggering the American. She quickly follows up with another shot to Karlie’s face, but Kloss gets her guard up and blocks it before she cinches, and Prinsloo tries to do more damage until the ref finally separates the two. The final forty-five seconds of the round see the two women trading each blow equally, with neither yielding and both trying to be the initiator and last woman standing. At the end of the round, Kloss and Prinsloo fight to a draw.

R6: Both Karlie and Behati moving slower now than at the start of the fight, but neither woman is backing down from her opponent. Kloss starts circling, but Behati jumps right at her and throws two punches that absolutely smash Karlie’s chest. Kloss staggers before swinging back with two punches, one of which clips Behati in the shoulder as she’s moving. Prinsloo closes the distance again and plugs leather straight to Kloss’ belly, drawing a gasp from her opponent as Karlie leans in, and the two cinch until the ref forces them to break. They two women stare icily at each other as Behati starts circling, when Karlie lunges forwards with a huge hook that gets….NOTHING! Prinsloo ducked out of the way and smashed an uppercut right to Karlie’s chin. Kloss staggers backwards, legs wobbly, and on comes Prinsloo. Behati wails on Karlie’s body, and Kloss’ guard is dropping as Prinsloo forces her back before splitting Kloss’ guard with a vicious jab that gets all of Karlie’s jaw, buckling her legs and the American goes down! Behati backs off as the ref starts his count. FIVE. SIX. Karlie is stirring. SEVEN. Karlie is up to a knee. EIGHT. NINE. And Karlie slumps back down. TEN. Your winner via KO6, Behati Prinsloo!

Prinsloo is jumping with joy as she defeats Kloss, and takes a few moments to soak in the atmosphere of the crowd before going over to Karlie and checking to see that she’s okay. Kloss and Prinsloo briefly embrace before the two depart the ring.

“I’m back. And I’m ready to get back to the runway too.” Behati boasts in her post-fight interview. “It’s just one fight, but it’s my first in a year, so it just feels good to be back on track.”

Kloss a bit more reticent after the match. “She beat me. Fair and square. I hope that I get another chance to fight her, but right now, I’m just on to the next fight.”
