BEFORE:

"Look," says Brittany with a beautiful smile, "People can say what they want, but everyone knows STEWART is the best flyweight at Front Street, and I gave HER all she wanted last year. Well. This year, I get a second stringer. So, guess how THAT is going to go?"

"You know," says Jane with a smile, "I think Brittany's going to find out that, for a second stringer, I hit very, very hard."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Time of the Season' by Ben Taylor. That song, of course, a cover of the original by The Zombies, and the cover version was used in the 2008 remake of the film 'Prom Night', and here comes the star of that film, the lovely Brittany Snow!"

McCarthy: "And, Snow actually HAS FCBA wins, so, I'm not sure how she got booked here not once, but TWICE!"

O'Dell: "Brittany down the aisle and into the ring. She's helped off with the robe to reveal that cobalt blue number we've seen before, and she's clearly in top shape for this one. And, that's 'Pleasant Nightmare' by Alih Jey you hear behind us, and here comes 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Cassie: "Levy just continues to get the job done, and she's claimed some pretty nice scalps, too, including Elizabeth Henstridge and Olivia Holt..."

McCarthy: "AND your running buddy, Brenda Song!"

Tess: "I'd watch it, Mac..."

McCarthy: "Ooooh! I'm SCARED!"

O'Dell: "Levy into the ring to be helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that peach number we've seen before. And, it's time for some picks. Tess likes Jane. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Snow actually HAS wins. Brittany!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "Our first split panel. Let's see who's right. Ladies working the feet early. Nobody dancing or circling, but there's plenty of angling and turning as the fighters look for openings. Levy stepping to, working some body. Snow banging right back. Brittany plenty comfortable on these terms."

Cassie: "This is a fight that might take place in the phone booth."

O'Dell: "Definitely possible, but not at the moment. Instead, ladies at middle distances, keeping the gloves up, getting the hands out and back quickly. Both scoring in spots, neither putting together punches all that well at the moment. Brittany steps to and goes body now, and Levy digging right back."

Tess: "No question JANE likes to work inside, and if that's what Snow wants to do..."

O'Dell: "Coming down the stretch in a competitive first. Snow working the flanks, Levy digging to the body. They are into the phone booth now, as the final seconds tick off in a closely-fought first. Good right hand by Snow, and there's the bell. Brittany's going to get the points in this one and go up 10-9."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "We're getting in close early in the second, just as Cassie predicted. Both fighters very comfortable on these terms, and both having success getting their respective offenses going at the moment. Lots of body work in there, but also short hooks to the head and the occasional uppercut."

McCarthy: "See, this isn't the kind of fight I like. This is Neve Campbell stuff, not ARTISTIC boxing, the stuff I used to do!"

O'Dell: "It may not be artistic, but it's working for both fighters. Snow scoring to the body in that exchange and Levy answering with a HARD right hand to the head that backed Brittany up a step. Older woman stepping right back to Jane, though, working the redhead's flanks with some heavy leather."

Cassie: "Nice movement here, too. Both ladies moving feet, heads, hands, playing good defense."

O'Dell: "No question about it. Final twenty seconds of another competitive round. Snow a nice combination there and Levy fires right back with one of her own. Forces Brittany to cover up and then goes body in a big way. Snow clinching, referee breaking, and there's the bell. Another narrow win, this time for Jane."

Tess: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with more inside work. Both ladies going body in a big way right now. And, this is, no doubt, attrition type stuff they're involved in, investing now to reap the rewards later. Good left hook to the head by Jane, backs Snow up a step. Levy stepping to and GETS CAUGHT BY A RIGHT HOOK!"

McCarthy: "NICE PUNCH!"

O'Dell: "Levy hurt by that left hook and now Snow letting the hands go and JANE TAKES A KNEE! Brittany bouncing to a neutral corner and the referee begins his count. Three. Four. Five. Six. Levy to her feet at seven. She'll take the mandatory and the referee waives on Snow! Brittany all about finishing this thing now..."

Tess: "And she's going about it the right way, sitting down on everything."

O'Dell: "No question about it. Levy backed to the ropes. Snow not buying the body the younger fighter's putting on sale, instead head-hunting, looking for the 'off' switch. Jane jabbing back here and there, playing defense, working clock. Five seconds to go and Levy's going to last out the stanza. There's the bell. 10-8 round for snow."

Cassie: "And, Brittany leads 29-27."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with Snow on the advance. She's walking forward behind her left jab, backing Levy up. Jane giving a little ground, moving laterally, fighting back in counter. Snow lands a solid combination and Levy fires right back with one of her own and we've got a firefight in the middle of the ring!"

Cassie: "And, they are just WINGING away at one another!"

O'Dell: "No doubt about it, Cassandra Lynn! Brittany wants to keep control, but Jane's not having any. Levy backs up Snow with a right hand and Brittany lands a good combination in response. Jane steps in and works some body, then lands a short right hook that backs up Brittany AGAIN!"

Tess: "Crowd getting into this in a major way now!"

O'Dell: "We've got thirty seconds to go in this round and the heavy exchanges continuing with neither fighter willing to give an inch. BIG right hand from Snow and Levy responds with a big right hook of her own! Snow goes body and Jane digs midsection. ANOTHER big exchange there and finally we get to the bell! Wow! What a round. Close. Levy."

McCarthy: "But, Snow still leads 38-37."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Ladies meet in the middle and get right back to business! After a round of trading bombs in the fourth, it appears that's exactly what we'll see in the fifth. Toe to toe in the middle of the ring, working head, body, head, body, everybody sitting down on everything for the moment at least."

McCarthy: "GOOD right hand from Snow!"

O'Dell: "Sure was, but Levy took it and fired right back to the body. Brittany tying up. Jane levers with the shoulder, lands a short left hook. Snow tying up again. Again, Levy levers, works some body and DROPS BRITTANY WITH A RIGHT UPPERCUT! A BLISTERING right uppie sends Snow CRASHING to the canvas!"

Tess: "And, my BFF might want to begin singing, because Snow was dropping the head at the time that landed."

O'Dell: "Timed perfectly. Jane to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Brittany flat on her back, head shaking side to side. She's not out, but she's looking out OF it. Seven. Eight. Not going to happen. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Cassie: "Who proves again she should absolutely not be left out of the flyweight discussion at Front Street."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Jane Levy, and, Jane, that was never going to be easy..."

Jane (shaking her head): "No way. This girl has beaten good fighters. She's no pushover. But. I'm no second stringer. As she just found out."

Tess: "Not that long ago, all the talk about the Front Street flyweight division was about who might get fired and who was disappointing. All of a sudden, it's about who ought to be at the top of a crowded pecking order..."

Jane (nodding): "And, it should be. I work with these girls every day, and all four of us are championship caliber. There's no question in my mind about that. But, there's also no question in my mind that I'm every bit as good as any of the others. Every bit as good. And, if anybody doubts that, keep watching."
