Lauren Mayberry (30, 5’0, 90 lbs, 2:4 FCBA, The Dollhouse) Vs. Madison Pettis (20, 5'2, 106lbs, 2:2 FCBA, The Wannabees)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse
BEFORE: Madison Pettis appearing pretty confident and cocky once the cameras pan over her face backstage, despite her 2-3 win-loss record. She smiles when the reporters jab at her about her chances tonight, especially against Lauren Mayberry. Madison letting out a chuckle at the mere mention of her opponent’s name, dismissing her chances as soon as the words are uttered:
“You know, we Wannabees have some beef with the Dollhouse girls. We’re currently 0-3 against them, with Sammi and Sarah both losing to Avril and then Stella losing to Roberts… but seems like I’m going up against their biggest jobber tonight,” Pettis smirks for a moment before continuing. “So I plan to get some much needed revenge for my stable. I know Lauren started winning lately. Hope it doesn’t get to her head, cuz she’s still a lot weaker and smaller than me and I feel like I’m going to walk all over her tonight. Just watch!”
By contrast, Lauren Mayberry looking like the quintessential girl with a youngest-sister syndrome, gulping hard when Madison listed down all her shortcomings prior, and now stuttering slightly when it’s her turn at the microphone:
“Ehm… well… Madison definitely seems like a lovely, humble girl,” the Scottish girl begins, drawing a dry chuckle from the audience. “I know most girls don’t think much of me because I’m small, but I’ve proven that I can win and I feel really good about my progress these past few months. I have no intention of losing tonight and let me tell ya, I’ve already fought *way* scarier girls than Madison here…. So I’m not really bothered by her attitude. She’s in for quite a surprise.”
Time to get this fight started and both girls making their way to the ring in turns: Madison in a purple bikini encrusted with silver sparkles - certainly an interesting choice for the ‘humble’ woman. She’s strapping on silver colored gloves with her hair tied in a messy ponytail. Lauren is out next, the modest CHVRCHES front-woman is clad in her usual attire of old-pink tinted bra, matching gloves and black short tights, showing off her shapely thighs as she modestly waves to the fans on her way to the ring with her dark shoulder-length hair hanging loose. Both women quickly settle into their corners and soon after the referee gets a nod from either corner and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!
ROUND 1: Don’t flame us for saying this, but anyone facing down Lauren Mayberry in the ring might be in for an adrenaline boost to their own systems, with the petite, thin girl looking like she might get blown over by a stray breeze. And no wonder Madison chugging forward once the bell rings, looking to tilt her over from the get go! Pettis stabbing and swinging large quantity of punches at Lauren’s head, trying to overwhelm her in the first minute. Mayberry however having done her homework, trying to bob and weave and scoot backwards all around, and she at least has the backing of her agility and smaller frame to evade well. But it’s no doubt or wonder how Madison takes this round by a landslide victory at the end of three minutes, with Mayberry barely flinging at punches back at all in the intermediary Dollhouse trainer patting her girl on the back, forehead to forehead whispering furious encouragement into her face to start fighting proper. Will it be enough to stave off another disappointing loss for the Doll?
ROUND 2: It certainly appears so! Lauren somehow just looking faster and more agile this round, as she avoids Madison’s grazing shots in the first half, then starts assaulting the winded woman back after the second minute! Madison not knowing what hit her exactly, but knows she’s definitely just gotten hit by something - a whirlwind dust devil of a girl who spins inwards at semi-awkward angles, before planting lightning combos all over her body and guard, then circling back out of reach. It’s like a magic show in some respects, and the crowd’s showing their love for these new tricks up Lauren’s sleeves! Mayberry looking true to form all of a sudden as she retakes the lead at the end of three minutes, leaving Madison shaken and stumbling back to corner. Girls take a round each and look set to have another go at taking the lead from each other!
ROUND 3: One thing that you need in this business, however, is a good sense of flexibility and adaptation, and Madison Pettis seems to be the contrary one-trick pony this fight, keeping herself charging forward and expecting a different outcome each time. Perhaps she’s waiting for Lauren to tire herself out with all that runnin’, but hell, have you seen this petite girl? She doesn’t need to expend much energy to avoid those lumbering hooks, by comparison, and Lauren once more exacts significant punishment all over Pettis’ body with some constant jabs landing and landing. Madison grunting hard when another late combo to the lips sends her reeling backwards. Lauren wary about charging in fully, still knows that one false move might see her sprawled on her back once more. But Madison looks genuinely hurt, covering her mouth with one hand whilst retreating fast back to her corner. And those telltale, fiery eyes sending shivers down our spine - who knows what might have happened if Lauren had taken the bait there? Mayberry walks away with another round wide in her favour as a result, with things certainly looking up for the Scottish native!
ROUND 4: Oh no - what diabolical scheme is Madison up to? She’s finally choosing to stay back in her corner even when the bell rings, gesturing at Lauren to come get her instead. Well, at least she’s not being obtuse about it… Lauren naturally cautious, stalking in from the side and jabbing from afar whenever she can, but Pettis staying with her back against the ropes, meaning there’s little movement that Lauren can exact that will give her a clear advantage - every side-step to the left or right met head on with Madison’s guard or another narrow miss, as she SWINGS a hook at the smaller girl’s face. Mayberry still showing plenty of skill at dodging those big hands… until she doesn’t... Right hook grazes her forearms and sends her grunting loudly as she’s pushed to the side and off-balance! This is exactly what Madison was waiting for! Mayberry in trouble suddenly as her body eats a consecutive left, then a right to her sides, before she manages to escape out of the danger zone on her faster feet. Madison not securing the knockdown this round, but still finding a smile on her face as she finally manages to catch up with her foe.
ROUND 5: Lauren nursing some bruising on her small frame in between rounds - she needs to look after those pinkish patches of swelling growing fast, especially when we remember that’s exactly how her past opponents managed to take her down. Still, she’s in the lead so far, and we hope that she can stay focused on the end prize. Madison not helping herself by going back to those crazy swings and fast-bull-rushes, thinking that Lauren’s hurt and ready to fall like a sack of potatoes. Not so, my dear - Mayberry still evading like Speedy Gonzales, frustrating her hapless foe to no end this time. But we notice that Lauren ain’t exactly punching back with the same frequency either, leaving Madison to be the one still scoring points this round, albeit on the singer’s guard and not on any sensitive regions. Still, it’s gonna cost the Doll the round in terms of points, with Pettis now surging forward in the lead by our estimates.
ROUND 6: We’re heading into unknown territory here, and we know we always like to say that, but in terms of seeing Lauren fight all this while, we’d say that that statement is definitely true! Lauren having the previous misfortune of not really lasting past five rounds due to her fragile nature, and here, it’s a small achievement on its own that she’s still flicking jabs at Madison’s head as we enter the sixth! It’s also a testimony to how far this girl has grown since her debut all those months ago! Madison, on the other hand, with a face screwed up and growling hard, trying to force her own body into overdrive in order to finish Lauren off, but failing at every swing. Lauren deftly avoids another big hook aimed at her head, before the Doll slams a flurry of quick hands up into her chin, wobbling her badly! Madison on the backburner as she squeezes her eyes shut and reels! Lauren jumping in hard and fast, looking to finish here! Her shots not having much power individually-taken, but when combined as a whole, they just prove too much for her foe! Madison eating one, two, three hard shots to her nose, her own body sent backwards into the ropes, before simply SLIDING DOWN in a daze, and staying shaken on her butt!! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Lauren Mayberry!
Good lord! We’re happy for the singer as she secures a big win this round! She’s showing elation as well, jumping up and down with a mischievous grin as she heads back to corner and leans tiredly against the corner turnbuckles, her chest heaving up and down from exertion. But lest she celebrate just yet, Madison ain’t knocked out, ladies and gents! The brunette’s STILL climbing back to her feet using the ropes for support, her chest heaving and a trickle of blood flowing down one of her bruised nostrils, but nonetheless, she’s still alive! Referee counting her out slowly, but she manages to recover by the count of 8! This ain’t over, folks!
Horror on Lauren’s face as the petite brunette realizes that she’s still gonna have to dig even deeper here if she wants to finish this tough cookie off. Such an anti-climatic outcome to an otherwise spectacular knockdown, but the referee has no choice but to continue this fight! He waves for the bell again and HERE we go with the final minute of the round!
Lauren taking a deep breath and to her credit, recovers fast enough, showing equal amounts of caution before returning to her focused form: she tests a couple more jabs to Madison’s head, before slapping more leather into her body when she covers up upstairs instead, before the Doll picking up the pace with a show of confidence. No matter how Pettis weaves or manoeuvres, she’s sure as hell eating a whole lot of punishment in there! Very soon, the brunette’s arms are barely registering any defense over her face, with her lips getting more and more swollen from the sheer number of punches shoved in! Madison is barely defending herself at this point!! Referee has seen enough and JUMPS IN TO SAVE HER! IT’S FINALLY OVER!!
Official Decision: Lauren Mayberry defeats Madison Pettis via TKO6!
AFTER: Wow! What a win for Ms. Mayberry! A final, genuine celebration this time around, with Lauren leaping into the air with both hands following her high! The ring announcer makes her win official, before a modest smile breaks over her face. Madison sliding back down the ropes, her mouth open and nose a bloodied mess by the time the ref managed to save her. Medics already rushing under the ropes and trying to stabilise the bleeding.
But Lauren, perhaps caught up in her moment of victory, comes walking over, not to check on her status but surprisingly, to gloat even more, commenting with both her hands on her hips and a nod in Pettis’ direction:
“So, now that the biggest Dollhouse jobber has messed you up so bad, you might need to start seriously reconsidering this career, don’t ya think? Or at least….keep that mouth shut more often” Lauren smiles, patting Madison on the head before walking away without waiting for a reply.
The Doll hi-fives her stablemates and shares hugs all around, and we don’t blame these girls for celebrating, with Mayberry adding her third win in a row into that win-column, and looks like fully intends to keep doing just that for the foreseeable future! |
