Georgia Mae Gibbs versus Gigi Hadid

Georgia:
(21, 5’10, 8:3 FCBA, VIXENs)

Gigi:
(23, 5’10, 6:11 FCBA, The Fighting Academy)

BEFORE:
“Ever heard of Icarus, babe? He flew too high to the Sun and got his wings melted clean off. That’s you, Georgia, and your attempts at challenging me. By entering the ring with me, you’re playing with fire,” Gigi smiling suggestively at her opponent from across the table, then winking at the audience for their cue to start the cameras flashing in her direction.

“Boooo. NERRRRDDD.” Georgia immediately retorting, chewing some gum and giving Gigi a thumbs down at the other end. “Y’know, there’s something to be said about models being overrated garbage, especially in this industry. But let me tell ya - Caspian only hires the best of the best. Your so-called ‘fire’, Hadid? I’m putting it out tonight.”

You can imagine then that the pre-fight staredown ritual is more tense than usual. For some reason, it seems to be always the models getting in each other’s faces. Maybe it’s the sight of someone else’s pretty features on display that they can’t stand being upstaged. The two blondes immediately start pushing and shoving hands into each other’s chests, before the ring official separates them for their own safety.

Girls are escorted to the ring with much fanfare and hoots from the crowd, especially when Georgia disrobes to reveal a sleek black bikini and pink gloves. Hadid not to be outdone, shining bright in a turquoise swimsuit and white leather gloves. There goes the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
One thing’s for sure when models fight, they really go all out to maul each other’s faces. First opening seconds see exactly that kind of exchange, with both girls meeting in the middle but otherwise not disposed to compromise, WHACKING gloves into the cheek and trading grunts, as the leather starts landing hard! Not keen on letting the other girl outdo the other, Gibbs especially returning each flourish with a hard swing of her own, putting a little more power into each hook and finally sending Gigi SCRAMBLING backwards, trying to cover up, that last hook to the head doing some damage with a loud UNHHGGG. Georgia not leaving unscathed either, but still stamping after prey and continuing to shoot straight hands into her body amidst her retreating. The rest of the round sees Georgia-dominance surge its head, with Gigi struggling to deal with the younger woman’s zeal and energy.

ROUND 2:
Finally, the girls starting to fight a little smarter, and Gigi in particular having to adapt to avoid a direct confrontation. Instead, tall, lanky strawberry blonde keeping her distance and punching technical jabs at Georgia, and they’re working wonders - Gibbs slow and stubborn, wants to keep the pressure up but is getting her face marked by Gigi’s superior reach. After the fourth or fifth lands hard on her nose, Gibbs pauses to reflect, rubbing that reddened button and contemplating if she just lost her lead. Last minute and we’re back to the slow circling of bad intentions, one woman determined to send the other down the drain. Georgia mirroring the brunette’s strategy by jabbing at her head from afar, and both of them manage to score in the final seconds - mutual grunts when they shove punches into each other’s face in a wild fray before the bell rings.

ROUND 3:
Georgia with a minor cut on her lip being patched up in between rounds. She’s shaking her head defiantly at her trainer, wanting to get back into the fight as fast as possible. Gigi with some renewed vigour, bunching up gloves and stretching neck from side to side, also eager to continue punching that pretty face in. She gets what she wants at the opening bell when Gibbs flies forward towards her, channeling some of that reckless blonde rage from another certain member of her stable, but this time, gets her jabs taken on Gigi’s gloves, before a nimble hook from the Fight Acad veteran SAILS in and SPINS that beautiful head on its hinges! UGHH!! Georgia literally shocked and awed as she’s staggered mid-charge, going off stumbling to the side with a loud grunt! Gigi devious and greedy, wanting more as she stalks after Gibbs, continue to batter her raised arms in order to get them out of the way of her real targets. Hadid persistently banging away, finally gets rewarded when another right hand nicks Georgia’s chin, sending her lurching backwards even more, before the blonde trips over herself and falls flat onto her butt! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Gigi Hadid!!

Hadid beaming for the cameras as she raises hands high in the air, parading around the fallen girl on her way back to corner. She’s certainly been through a bad patch in her last few fights, and we’ll certainly give her credit where it’s due. Gibbs on the other hand scrambling backwards on her fine buttocks, reaching for the ropes and pulling herself up, looking both embarrassed and butt-hurt (quite literally). She manages to make it up by the count of 8, and this fight is continuing!

ROUND 4:
Gigi now positively grinning as she looks set to continue her dominant-streak. Things are looking up for the model as she’s set to score a victory here tonight, finally breaking her bad luck. Georgia advised to play it safe this round and keep her temper in check, for the first minute just staying behind her own battle line and taking hits to her guard rather than dish out and leave herself exposed. It works, for the most part, preventing Gigi from securing a potential knockout blow on her head, with those swishes and shakes missing Georgia’s nose by inches as she employs countermeasures by weaving that lanky torso backwards, then paying Gigi back with short blows into her mouth and chin. Last few seconds and both girls are tired out, slow motions and heavy breathing as they circle each other warily, letting the timer run out on itself. Gigi’s done enough to secure the round, but not by much.

ROUND 5:
Gigi choosing to be the aggressor in the fifth, pushing her body forward despite the earlier endeavours. Georgia this time keeping herself back and her eyes on the oncoming girl, chest pulsing and arms primed to hurt. Gigi’s jabs scoring on the forearms as Gibbs keeps herself moving deftly, waiting for opportune moment to jump in and SLAM a right hand straight down the middle of her body! OUCH. Gigi gurgling for air, and before she can recover, another one-two quick hits impact the nostrils hard, before the rest of Georgia’s hands are blocked. But the damage has been done, and Gigi is reeling backwards with her eyes watering. In comes Gibbs, sweeping those hands low and swiping the tummy, before battering her guard, rinse and repeat. Gigi driven backwards, now in all sorts of trouble, with Gibbs having a chance of revenge here if she plays her cards right. But no - her back barely hitting the ropes and the bell rings too early - Georgia sneaking in a couple of fists thumping into into her bare belly before the referee pulls her off of her foe. Hadid looking forlorn and gasping on the ropes, bent over and hungry for breath, but Gibbs doesn’t get that knockdown. At least she’s made her point known that she’s not going down without a fight!

ROUND 6:
We’re entering the second half here with five rounds down, and even model-ready bodies are getting tested to their limit when the bell rings and we don’t see that same kind of explosion of activity that characterised the earlier rounds. Georgia initiating this time, stepping forward and swiping paws, forcing Hadid to cover up her head. Gigi easily spooked, however, overcompensating slightly, giving Gibbs the cue to rush in some more and fire away at her flanks. Hadid getting overwhelmed by blonde boldness, those incoming punches to her head, chest and body a little much for her to block, deflect or avoid all at once... Another two quick hands sting the model’s lips and a sudden, shocking hook FLOORS her as she falls painfully down to her side! DOWN Hadid goes in a brilliant display from the Vixen!

Hadid sputtering on her belly, lifting that head to show fluttering eyes as she tries to crawl towards the ropes with the remainder of her strength. Gibbs too tired to celebrate exuberantly either, scoffing with an upturned chin before heading back to corner to rest. Hadid getting the crowd behind her back however as they cheer her name on her way upwards, but even that’s not enough - not this time. The referee hits the 10-count and she’s still only made it up to one shaky leg! He calls for the bell!

Official Decision: Georgia Mae Gibbs defeats Gigi Hadid via KO6!

AFTER:
The Australian’s fans finally breaking their silence as they jump up from their seats at this moment, and Gibbs allowing herself a broad smile, one that’s filled with relief, as she leans back into the ropes to sink in her win.

Hadid hanging her own shame on the middle rope, arms drooped over, limp, head suspended loosely on the strings as her entire body finally relaxes from the strain of the past six rounds.

“Like I said before: I think I put her down quite easily,” Gibbs laughing to reporters later on. “We’re from the same world outside of the ring, but trust me, we’re worlds apart in terms of ability once we get inside the ropes. I proved that tonight.”

Hadid suffering another defeat this year, marking her sixth consecutive loss in what must be a disappointing show for her own stable. Only time will tell what her future will hold. Perhaps her sister will find more success next week when she takes another shot at bringing the VIXENs’ Alexis Ren down. For now, we wish both women the best of luck.
