Ginny Gardner (23, 5’8, 126 lbs, 5:1 FCBA, The Dollhouse) Vs. Luisana Lopilato (31, 5’6, 118 lbs, 13:5 FCBA, VIXENs)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse
BEFORE: “I like what I see so far,” Luisana responding first with a nod of approval backstage. She’s smiling as she steals glances at Ginny Gardner from across the table, where both women are seated. “She's only experienced one loss so far and that's impressive. I remember when I used to have that feeling of invincibility as well. But really, you shouldn't get used to it, Ginny. And you better believe I fully intend to win tonight.”
Ginny trying her best to steal back a polite smile as she sits up at her end of the table. The Doll always been kind of a 'tweener' but leaning towards taking the phrase ‘babyface' quite literally tonight, with those angelic features just begging to get punched in. Gardner usually showing off a goofy, funny and lighthearted side, but tonight especially starting to take her boxing career seriously following her earlier successes, replying Luisana in a more solemn and serious tone.
“I’m not gonna lie, guys. Luisana’s record is pretty impressive. But you know what? So is mine, right?” Ginny smiles weakly. “Besides, she’s fought a lot of mediocre opponents. So I’m feeling pretty good about tonight. I’ve been getting better and better at this, and even though I’m not as experienced as Luisana, I feel like I’ve got plenty of advantages here. Katheryn Winnick is a huge inspiration to me - we’ve been sparring a lot recently and she’s been very helpful. We also kinda bonded over the both of us having black belts in taekwondo!” Ginny letting out a giggle. “Katheryn’s all about challenging herself and overcoming the odds, and I LOVE that! So I’m gonna do my best to follow that philosophy as well… I want to climb those rankings, man! Bella’s NOT the only promising young Dollhouse Bantam, and I’ll be doing my best to prove it, starting tonight!”
Girls head out from backstage to plenty of flash and flurry. Luisana strutting out first with a big wave, her elaborately-laden outfit white as snow, like a Victoria’s Secret Angel in her own right. Ginny not to be outdone with her own ensemble and flourish, and in many ways, the pundits have already been calling her the younger, hotter version of Lopilato, as she makes her own way down the ramp in her usual grey and turquoise coloured sporta bra and tights, hair in a bun, a confident grin on her face as she waves and high-fives the cheering fans.
Both blondes make their final preparations in the ring as the referee runs through the basic rules of engagement once more. HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1: And it looks like all that talk about training with Katheryn Winnick has paid off indeed, with Ginny Gardner showing plenty of measured advances this early in the game. Now, she’s always been a defensive fighter herself, but this time, she’s moving with greater purpose, frustrating Luisana’s attempt to close distance by jabbing over and over into the Vixen’s face. Luisana certainly packing more power behind her shots in her past fights, and she knows that this one will be no different if she manages to catch the new girl flush on the chin. But Ginny’s footwork is making her work for it hard, and pay the price dearly in this first round. By the time the third minute rolls round, Luisana’s learnt to keep her distance as well, and the two women left trading glancing jabs by the time the bell rings. Ginny shows everyone in attendance that she’s in full control of the situation thus far, taking the round by wide margin.
ROUND 2: Here comes Lopilato, hoping to try her luck again, but this time perhaps in a less gung-ho manner. Ginny still keeping her distance and throwing that long jab her way, but it’s noticeably hitting the forearms or face a little less often, with Luisana also keeping herself in check. The Vixen is trying to get her opponent’s rhythm and timing down pat in order to surprise Ginny at her own game, and the breakthrough appears to come at the end of the second minute when Gardner flicks the same three-jab combo at her guard, only to immediately TAKE a right cross straight down the middle, shocking the Doll badly! Luckily, the blow was caught in time by Ginny’s raised arms, only succeeding in pushing her backwards a couple steps. Still, that right there is how relative their fighting strategies can get. Ginny considerably spooked for the remainder, eating another combo of jabs to the mouth before she can get away clean.
ROUND 3: So far, this fight is looking both equal and nicely matched between two competitors, in your classic showdown between speed versus power. Luisana perhaps getting a little too ambitious, too early once again, rushing at Ginny at the opening bell and trying to put her down in order to make a statement. But the fresh Gardner is still not having it, especially suffering such a humiliation and letdown on behalf of her good friend Katheryn Winnick. My gosh - what would she say if she got knocked down before the fight even got started proper? Ginny back to her laser-focus defence as she runs side to side, bobbing and weaving around Luisana’s big hands coming her way. Lopilato just tiring herself out in the process, doesn’t realise she’s underestimating the newcomer until it’s too late: Ginny lands plenty more jabs to her cheek, then shooting more straights into her body late in the round, slowing down Luisana’s advance even further. Just like that, Luisana’s chances at securing a lead evaporating into thin air, and we’re back to Gardner with the considerable advantage.
ROUND 4: And the momentum for the Doll just keeps on going! Round 4 and Luisana’s not willing to back herself away… It’s uncharacteristic behaviour for the Vixen, who appears to have a particular axe to grind with her counterpart blonde, perhaps wanting to prove that the new and improved model has nothing on her. But as a result, she’s bleeding points through her own unforced errors: her hooks not landing and straight hands getting blocked or avoided by Ginny. Meanwhile, Ginny landing her shots in between, tagging cheek and chest. Last round sees Luisana succeed somewhat in cornering the slippery blonde by rushing inwards amidst the torrent of punches, and just SWING away at the leaner girl’s body and head. Ginny covering up with a gasp and yelp, finding herself in unfamiliar territory and in danger of panicking full. But the bell rings too soon for Luisana to do any damage even though she finally has got her on the ropes. Right hands into the body whap whap whap is all she can do before the referee pries her off, leaving Gardner still with the round but a weakened smile on face.
ROUND 5: Round 5 and there needs to be a shake-up if Luisana’s gonna stand a chance to win this. Her Head Trainers are saying as much in between rounds, imploring their girl to bide her time and take it slow. Well, it’s easier said than done, especially when the age difference between herself and opponent only gets wider and wider. Luisana knows she doesn’t have much time left to make an impact, and the resultant ferocity shows! Ginny showing impressive stamina herself as she continues to keep her distance and punch and punch and punch, but at this point, Luisana has her opponent’s timing down pat, able to block the majority of her punches before her own fists start getting dangerously close to Ginny’s head. In this manner, Ginny still manages to take the first two minutes with her familiar dance moves, but then a bloody hook out of nowhere almost TAKES her head off after it lands square on her cheek! Luisana swivels that pretty torso all the way to the side with a HNNGGHH from Gardner’s lips, which sends her down to the ground!
First KNOCKDOWN of the night goes to Luisana Lopilato as she finally manages to showcase her incredible offensive power! Ginny left open-mouthed and breathing hard on her side, but she’s definitely still alive and kicking, struggling her way back up to her feet. Kat Winnick of course already by ring-side, cheering her latest prodigy on, banging on the apron and yelling that she can do this. Ginny obliging her mentor, making it up by the count of 8, but the round ends with Lopilato stealing the round from under her with that impressive knockdown. The only question is whether one girl can seize the advantage from here on out.
ROUND 6: Ginny still looking glassy-eyed when the sixth starts, her chest heaving heavily as she’s much slower out of her corner. Luisana on the other hand storming forward wanting to repeat the same success story. Ginny just too shocked to keep up with the same pace that she established before, allowing her opponent to get too close, and too quickly. The blows start landing one after another on the Doll’s frame, smacking her upper torso about with hard lefts and rights into the arms, then side-shots into the body also going unanswered as Ginny covers up high but leaves herself open below... Luisana fully in the pocket now, wailing away on her lean frame as Ginny’s back hits the ropes… Can Gardner survive another two minutes of this shellacking?!? It appears that the answer is ‘No’ - another right hook blows her arms clear out of the water, before that beautiful head twisted the other way round as a return hook catches her flush on the cheek! Ginny goes DOWN for the second time this evening, the blonde lifelessly sprawling to canvas! And this time she’s staying put! Ginny is out cold! The referee waves the fight off!!
Official Decision: Luisana Lopilato defeats Ginny Gardner via KO6!
AFTER: You can’t quite blame Ginny Gardner’s efforts here in the ring tonight - the Doll showing plenty of spunk and energy, and Katheryn Winnick is the first person to acknowledge as much, entering the ring immediately to check on her mentee. It takes a lot of guts to admit that one needs help in the ring, and kudos to Ms Gardner for finding a worthy mentor in Ms Winnick. Hopefully she’s gonna show plenty of improvement in the long run, but for now, the two women close the night sharing embraces and apologetic words.
Luisana on the other hand feeling both a tad proud and relieved. She does a brief victory lap around the ring, ignoring Ginny and her entourage, before quickly exiting to not rub her victory in. She speaks to reporters later by ringside:
“The kid’s got a bright future, there’s no doubt about that. She really got me guessing for a few rounds in there, but I knew that she would make a mistake sooner or later. And when she did, I was ready to pounce. I wish her the best of luck in the future, sincerely.” |
