Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
Katheryn Winnick is certainly fighting her way up the ladder tooth and nail, taking on tough challenge after tough challenge. The latest in her path of world domination is none other than Rachel McAdams herself, fiery redhead and FCBA veteran, and someone you’d certainly not want to mess with. If it’s one thing we’ve learned about Ms Winnick, however, is that she treats all her opponents with that equal show of respect that they’re due, and it shows once more in her opening remarks:

“I think I can say with certainty that tonight is going to be my biggest, most challenging fight to date, and probably the most important fight so far for me. Rachel is one of the best the FCBA has to offer. She’s a four-time champion, and BWO just ranked her at 9th place overall in the world! I have great respect for both her in-ring and out-of-the-ring talents, and I’m honored that she accepted my challenge. That being said, I fully intend to win tonight, and win big. I already mentioned wanting to face Evangeline Lilly sometime next year, and this is a step in that direction. Me and Rachel are the same age and we’re evenly matched in terms of our physical attributes, so it’s going to be a really interesting fight, I think, and hopefully, I can prove that I’m ready to take down pretty much anyone in this league. I know Rachel has won her last five matches against some pretty good competition, so she’s clearly in great shape, but I’m here to increase my streak to 13 tonight, and doing that by beating someone as good as Rachel is just going to be pretty amazing. Let’s dance!” Winnick ends her remarks by giving Rachel a confident but playful look from across the table.

Rachel with that famous, permanent smirk on the corner of her lips throughout Winnick’s comments, made famous of course by the movie, Mean Girls, where one was hard-pressed throughout to know whether the redhead was being sincerely nice to you or wanting to rip your head off. Well, it’s clear from her response here that it’s the latter case:

“Katheryn has been making a lot of noise lately, so of course I was glad to accept her challenge. Why wouldn’t I? I’m not *too* worried about fighting her after all... Yes, she’s been impressive, especially for someone who only started boxing officially a year ago, but she hasn’t faced any top-tier fighters just yet. Well, she’s facing one tonight, and reality might just hit her hard. She’s already lost to mid-tier fighters before, not to mention getting her lights knocked out by some low-tier ones like Kardashian. I’ve watched her fight - she’s got plenty of weaknesses, and I plan to expose and exploit them. Sorry, hon, but you’ll be hitting a brick wall tonight and you’re going to break. And your little win streak is going to break with you. Good luck - you’ll need plenty of it.”

Cold and calculated remarks right there, but they don’t seem to faze Ms Winnick too much. She’s heard plenty of it before by this point in her career, and she’s slowly getting used to the mounting pressure as she climbs her way all the way to the top.

Entering the arena first, Katheryn still smiling confidently as she takes her time down the ramp, a stride worthy of a champion, dressed in her black & white sporta bra and tights with matching gloves, hair up in a high ponytail. McAdams next to emerge, exuding her own brand of confidence and sexiness in a black/red lingerie set, complete with red gloves, hair in a ponytail.

In the ring, no more words exchanged between both women, and with a touch of gloves, the referee calls for the bell to begin! HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Both women just turned the early side of 40, and we’re not expecting an explosive start like some of their younger counterparts would partake in. Certainly, Katheryn fighting calm, collected and smart early on, keeping her distance and only occasionally flicking jabs at Rachel’s head. McAdams not much different if we’re being honest, and it appears both of them want to ‘feel’ each other out early on before committing to a concrete strategy in there. Still, we’ve gotta judge this based on points being landed, and though Rachel’s throwing more punches her way, Katheryn’s the one who actually scores on the face and body multiple times, counter-punching each time she successfully blocks one of Rachel’s offenses. By the time the bell ends, the so-called ‘veteran’ is left steaming at being unable to dominate in this opening round. Seems like she’s the one who’s underestimated her opponent!

ROUND 2:
It’s a mistake that McAdams is not likely to make again, however. She mirrors Winnick’s stance in the second round, keeping her own comfortable pace and only punching back when she has a clear and present shot at the blonde’s face or body. This switch in strategy seems to work well for her - Winnick furrowing her brow as the third jab lands painfully on her mouth, and her own long hand finding the guard instead of the redhead’s skin. Must not be a nice feeling when your opponent plays cat-and-mouse with you as well, and the veteran showing the audience why she’s considered one in the first place, intending to outbox and frustrate Katheryn at her own game. Winnick no choice but to turtle up some more, focusing on her defence in the late round and throwing ever fewer punches. This is going to cost her the round overall, but at least both of these women are showing efforts to adapt to each other. We have a feeling that this fight might be going the distance...

ROUND 3:
Rachel McAdams trying to ramp up the pressure a little bit at a time, once again advancing and punching at Katheryn but finding it difficult to pin her down. Winnick doesn’t seem to mind outrunning and avoiding her brief bursts of action and charges in her direction - she fully believes in her own superior conditioning and wouldn’t mind taking advantage of Rachel in the later rounds, especially when she’s expended all her energy and left open and vulnerable. For now though, she has to contend with the redhead’s early aggression. It doesn’t help matters that McAdams’ own trainer and stablemates are cheering her efforts on in her corner, further driving her forward. Rachel obligingly landing plenty of blows into the guard, with some leather gloves bouncing off Kat’s tummy late in the round, leaving the Doll stunned and winded. Neither woman securing the full advantage, though.

ROUND 4:
And here comes Kat Winnick, looking to disrupt this even and equal back-and-forth! The blonde must be thinking that it’s prime time to strike back, because she surprises McAdams by meeting her in the middle of the ring with a startling combination to the head! Rachel letting out a brief gulp when she finds her swings avoided - they were poorly timed and executed and missing their mark when Winnick comes in hard and fast instead. Blonde girl bangs revenge fists on redhead’s tummy, stunning the veteran fighter, before swinging bombs at the sides of her head. Rachel been in similar situations before, no doubt, but it’s the ferocity from the newcomer that seems to have caught her off-guard. Girls briefly clinch up in the middle, taking a breather on shoulders, before they push off simultaneously and continue swinging away. Rachel ducking under a hook thrown at her head, then repays the Doll’s kindness with more leather FUMP into the belly, before both women end up in each other’s arms yet again until the time runs out. Rachel shocked and awed in there, but still demonstrating her resolve to see this through to the end. However, the judges awarding Katheryn with the round by a wide margin for her early aggression.

ROUND 5:
Rachel McAdams now the one goading Winnick to bring the fight to her once more, threatening to do her worse now that she’s more aware of what she can do. But of course Winnick ain’t that dumb, lacking the element of surprise and therefore opting to go back to basics. She’s keeping her right hand shooting in regularly, preventing McAdams from capitalising on that last blood scored. But Rachel showing her own tenacity, advancing relentlessly regardless of the blows to her face. She’s shooting in all sorts of advanced combinations, landing glancing blows on the Doll’s face and body from all sorts of angles. What she succeeds in doing is push Katheryn backwards and create the perception that she’s dominating the exchange, even though Winnick doesn’t look too hurt by the attacks by the time the bell ends.

ROUND 6:
Pass the midpoint and both women look dead set on surging ahead, despite their advanced ages. Perhaps we’re the ones still underestimating them and being a little ageist ourselves? Rachel barreling forward at the bell, face behind both gloves and bent over to keep her surface area small. Katheryn however also ready to receive the assault, side-stepping and landing a barrage all over her forearms and even into the side of her head, rattling the veteran fighter up top. Rachel still stubbornly charging forward and swinging, but Kat is the one scoring punches to anyone observing from the outside. The blonde weaving her torso out of the way of Rachel’s big hooks, before slamming her own punches into the guard, slowly but surely sapping the redhead of her strength. Last minute and the toll is clearly being taken on McAdams - she’s panting hard and no longer in the mood to advance blindly forward. Winnick seizing the chance to go on the offensive herself, shoving a right hand straight down the middle of the guard. Rachel literally pushed on the defensive and forced to absorb more shots into her body, with Katheryn simply picking and choosing her targets from afar. Not a great round for the veteran fighter, if we’re being honest… Not one bit...

ROUND 7:
We reach the seventh and finally their age is beginning to show… cracks in the dam as their movements slow and their breathing gets a little heavier. Rachel in particular is struggling to stay upright. Previously, one attributed the bent-over stance to being purely defensive. Now, her sweat-soaked skin and open lips are more evidence to show that her age is catching up with her. Katheryn faring a little better of course, her spirits bolstered by her conservation of energy from the earlier rounds of defensive action. She sees another opportunity to take the fight forward, and does exactly that! Rachel getting pushed around the ring now as Katheryn landing straight hands on her forearms without much hassle, then picking punches at her tummy before testing her strength up top in a rapid string of combinations. Rachel gets pushed back into the ropes in the final minute and here is where it gets nasty! Lefts and rights shoved into her midsection from the side, making her gurgle and cover up her body, but a well-placed SPIN hook to the chin sends her spinning to the side on her last legs, before collapsing down onto her buttocks by the side of the ropes! It’s a KNOCKDOWN from Kat Winnick!

ROAR of approval from the crowds as first blood goes to the Doll, in an excellent display of boxing prowess. Sometimes, it’s really not sheer power that wins you the match. Instead, it’s a combination of patience, poise and power that secures you the win. In this case, Rachel McAdams left both exhausted and punched out, simply outclassed tonight by the quality of her opponent! Case in point: the referee hits the 10-count and she’s barely made it onto her knees! He waves her out!!

Official Decision: Katheryn Winnick defeats Rachel McAdams via KO7!

AFTER:
Bell rings to make it official and the delight is clear as day on Katheryn’s face – the killer blonde seems delighted as she runs over to her corner, hugging and kissing her stablemates on the cheek, before waving enthusiastically to all her fans who have supported her this far, and every step of the way.

It’s a huge step for the Doll on her way towards the top of this division, matched by that equally huge grin etched on her face. She walks over to Rachel’s sputtering form still by the ropes to check on her, before speaking down into those glazed-over eyes, “I hope I’ve made you a believer Rach! If you wanna go again, hit me up any time. I’m always in the market for a competitive fight!”.

Rachel only blinking up in response, the medics already by her side to check on that rapidly swelling face. Tough luck for this veteran fighter of the ring - she’s been in some downright spectacular fights throughout the ages, and hopefully this loss tonight doesn’t spell the end of her career in the ring.

Later, Katheryn going ahead and telling reporters, “I feel amazing! Tonight was seriously amazing! Yes, that’s 13 in a row now…. pretty crazy, right? This is definitely my biggest win to date….but I’ve got a few more names left on my list before I’m ready for someone like Lilly. But I’m getting there! 2019 is gonna rock!”
