(Girls Friday vs Free Agent)

Intro:
Tonight sees Sophia Bush have her first for the Girls Friday stable against Piper Perabo in her hometown of California in the Honda Center.

Sophia is 36 years old; she stands 5'4 and holds a record of 23 wins, 21 by knockout and 21 defeats, she is a former FCBA JMD champion.

Piper is 43 years old; she stands 5'6 and holds a record of 18 wins, 10 by knockout and 17 defeats.

Both women were interviewed separately by FCBA Network host Lucy Liu, with Sophia sitting with her stables assistant manager Melanie Sykes beside her on the sofa.

When asked about how she is finding the new stable, Sophia replies with a smile "well I've had a few stables so used to have to getting to know everyone, but me and Hilary (Burton) always were close to these guys, hell I have sparred with girls in the stable so it is probably the easiest place I could have slotted into"

She continues with "the biggest thing I need to get used to is coaching, I want to stay within the ring but I have to accept that my career might go another 4 or 5 years, then I need to do something with my time, that is coaching and I have great leaders to teach me into the role in Melanie here, Taryn (Terrell) and Lauren (Berlingeri)"

She is then asked about Piper, with Sophia saying "she is criminally underrated! I can't believe she hasn't had more fights but I can say the same about myself early in my career, I know she'll be coming all guns blazing and I'm ready to go toe to toe with her to prove my worth to my new crew"

The final question is about career goals, have they changed now? She answers "well obliviously now I am coaching I may not take as many fights on as before, I have been assured by Mel here that if a title opportunity presents itself I of course would get pushed for it, I love Kaya (Scodelario) but I want to have the gold around my waist before I retire so will push her for that chance within the stable"

Piper meanwhile sits down looking excited as she is asked about how she is feeling coming into this fight, she says "it's been over a year since I had a fight, so I am itching to step between the ropes and remind the world what I have in my skill set"

When asked about Sophia; she replies "she has been up and down in her career from what I have seen and honestly I have wanted a bash at her, she seems very nice so it won't be the usual affair where I'll need to shove her back if she got in my face, that isn't her style so this should be fun"

The final question is how long she thinks she has left in the tank, she answers "I still am in great shape, so physically I can still go but it's about whether I can go for the gold, if not then it depends how much fun I am having I guess"

Fight night; Sophia comes out with Taryn Terrell and Eva Carneiro by her side, the crowd is loudly cheering for her as she heads down the aisle with a big smile on her face.

She is wearing a white sports bra with three white stripes down the sides, matching trunks with white shoes and black gloves, her brunette hair is in a ponytail.

Getting into the ring Sophia bows to each side of the ring to her fans, before she settles into her corner and begins to warm up with stretches.

Now Piper comes out to a mixed reception, she still looks in good spirits as she jogs down to the ring, chatting with her coach about Sophia and the crowd.

She is wearing a maroon sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, while her blonde hair is also up in a ponytail.

Stepping into the ring; Piper heads straight for her corner, focusing purely on the fight as there's no point trying to win over the crowd.

The fighters both jog to the ring center and share a small smile as the referee goes through the instructions for the fight.

When asked to touch gloves they respectfully do so, heading back over to their corners ready to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
"Ding" both women start off testing the others reflexes, up on their toes as they move around each other, their eyes are locked as they look for anything they can exploit.
Piper looks the more comfortable at the slower pace, she is using her reach and height to mostly keep Sophia back as they circle each other.
But Sophia soon surprises Piper by slipping under a jab and starts working the body of her opponent with several punches raining in.
Piper tries to match the work rate of Sophia, clearly she has been caught cold though as a right slams across her cheek with a left just missing as she leans back.
That drive though has Piper stuck behind her guard as Sophia drives her around the outside of the ring, Bush finding mostly glove but is landing some cleanly to test the abs of Perabo.
Who nudges her back and in the dying seconds tries to show Sophia how much she is here for a fight as the roaring fans get a grandstand finish to the round.
The girls bump gloves at the bell to show respect, their faces though are intense as this fight means a lot to them, the Girls Friday corner the happier end of the ring due to the great start for Sophia.
Round 2:
Piper seems to have warmed up judging by her footwork, she is keeping Sophia back with stiff jabs to the top of her head.
Sophia tightening her guard more as she stalks her opponent, each time she tries to close the gap she is met with a fist onto her face.
When Sophia dips down; she is met with a double jab to the top of her head, followed by a right hook that knocks Sophia back.
Piper starts to be the one driving the pace, taking the center of the ring as she scores points by smacking the gloves of her opponent.
Later in the round; Piper goes to land a left cross but is met with a straight to her nose and a left under her ribs as Sophia comes back at her.
Sophia has her head under the chin of Piper in the dying seconds as she works the body of the older fighter till the bell rings.
Now Piper looks relaxed as she sits on her stool, knowing she can keep Bush back, with her coach giving her some advice as she gets a drink.
Round 3:
This time the action starts off more evenly fought, both women trading in close to start as Sophia looks to keep in tight.
Till Piper nudges her back with her left to open up space to slam a right hook across the cheek of her smaller fighter to force her back.
Piper starts to throw more combos as she looks to drive forwards, Sophia taking most of the punches off her gloves with the ones getting through knocking her head back.
The hometown fighter is able to slip under a straight to slam a right to the body, followed by an overhand left that just grazes Pipers chin as she leans back.
Piper gets back control by landing two punches straight to the face of Sophia, then lands a right hook that knocks the smaller fighter to the ropes.
Where Piper pins her behind her guard with a flurry, when Piper switches up to the body then Sophia fires back with punches up top.
The bell rings with Piper nodding over to her coach who nods back happy with her work so far, Piper enjoying the cool drink and the sponge cleaning her up.
While Sophia gets her first pep talk from Taryn, who tells her to show her why she was signed to the stable, Sophia smiles and bumps a fist with Taryn on her way out for the next round.
Round 4:
Piper starts off strong with her keeping the range where she wants it, slamming punches into the top of her opponent's head.
It's clear though that Sophia is looking to be more aggressive, she dips down under a right and uses her left to nudge back Perabo.
With an overhand right slamming into the cheek of the blonde, Piper covers up as Sophia pushes forwards now, digging several body shots in.
Piper slams a jab into the face of Sophia, but misses with a right cross and ends up taking a hard right into her gut, a whoosh of air leaves Piper's lips as that shot winded her.
Sophia coming on hard as she slams in three punches up top to knock Piper onto the ropes, then switches down to the body to have Perabo bending down.
Piper pulls Sophia into a clinch, looking relieved for a chance to get her breath back, the referee pulls them apart with the Dallas native fighting more defensive as time ticks away.
The round ends with Piper taking a deep breath, her coach looking worried as she heads back to her corner and sits on her stool sucking in air.
Across the ring Sophia looks more focused as her eyes are locked onto her opponent, Taryn not even saying a word as she doesn't want to affect her fighter.
Round 5:
Piper looks somewhat recover as she starts the round, catching Sophia with counter punches as she focuses more on defending her body.
But Sophia feints and then comes inside with a straight between the gloves of Piper to her lips, allowing her to move in close.
They start throwing punches in tight as Piper looks to try to land something to knock Sophia back, the problem for her is those body shots are making her wince and back up.
A missed hook by Piper leads to her taking another hard body shot, PIPER LOOKS BADLY HURT AS SOPHIA KEEPS BANGING AWAY AT THAT BODY TILL PIPER TAKES A KNEE!
Sophia raises her fists as she jogs over to a neutral corner, 1...2...3 Piper spits out her gumshield as she goes to all fours, 4...5...6 she is sucking in air as her face looks red, 7...8...9....10 Piper is counted out!

Winner Sophia Bush KO Round 5

After:
Well this is definitely the start Sophia wanted for her new stable, she raises her fists and smiles over at Taryn, who looks proud of her new fighter and fellow trainer.

Sophia then jogs over to Piper; kneeling down to check on her after she slips off her gloves, the coaches come over to them.

After Piper gets her breath back, Sophia helps her up as the two women embrace and talk about how fun it was, with Piper chuckling as she jokes that she has had better days in the ring.

They separate to head to their corners, Piper's coach telling her that with work in the gym that she can get back in a roll again, Piper not looking so confident right now but nods her thanks.

While across the ring Eva and Taryn are praising Sophia, giving her pats on the back as she sits and drinks with a cool towel across the back of her neck to cool her down.

Both women come to the center of the ring, with Sophia about to get her hand raised but Piper comes over and in a great sign of sportsmanship she lifts the winners hand up to a loud cheer.

The fighters shake hands as Sophia thanks Piper for the sign of respect, with Piper replying "next time you'll be lifting my hand" with both women smiling as they separate and Piper heads out the ring.

Leaving Sophia to bask in the crowds love, hoping this is the start of a new dawn for her that will bring her the bantamweight gold as she raises her arms in the air.

She heads out the ring with her new crew, big smiles all around as they go up the aisle with Sophia high fiving fans.
