Vanessa Hudgens vs. Kristen Bell (Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

Battle between two former Unified Flyweight Champions with a whopping SEVEN title reigns between them. But, if Vanessa's impressed by Kristen's pedigree, she's not showing it. "Yeah, I guess she was good five or ten years ago," says the brunette dismissively. "But, this is almost 2019. Old ladies like Kristen and Mishy are SO over..."

"Oh, I'm going to be OVER something," says a hard-eyed Kristen. "I'm going to be STANDING over 'Nessa's knocked out BODY. And, I'm going to ENJOY it."

ROUND ONE:

Nobody in the FCBA can leg any better than 'Nessa. The brunette beauty's in impeccable shape and is as athletic as anyone in the division. So, it's no surprise that the 'fittest flyweight' decides to start the fight on the move, especially when she's got reach on the older blonde. The combination of the movement and the length advantage poses problems for Kristen early. Bell can't get to spots to get her offense going. Instead, she's getting hit with Vanessa's jab and an occasional right hand follow without being able to do much in return. As the round goes on, though, Krissy begins to figure the geometry. She's stepping to, cutting the ring, creating exchanges and scoring some points that way. In fact, the blonde actually gets the better of things when the fighters are engaged. But. 'Nessa's scoring enough on the move to more than offset that work. So, when the bell rings ending the first stanza, it's the brunette who takes the points and grabs the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Bell starting to cause problems for the brunette now. She's getting the ring cut, getting inside, working the brunette to both head and body. 'Nessa firing back in kind, but Kristen simply more effective on these terms. She's able to find openings and get short, sharp shot on target while slipping and blocking a lot of the brunette's rejoinders. Then, things get WORSE for 'Nessa. A short right hand lands on the button and HUDGENS IS HURT! 'Nessa staggers, nearly goes down, and Bell is ALL IN. Krissy letting the hands go in a big way, thumping the younger woman to both head and body, backing her into the ropes with about a minute to go in the round and giving her an absolute THUMPING. Hudgens reduced to hanging on in a tight earmuff, trying to get the clock run while the referee looks in closely. 'Nessa makes it to the bell, but, when it rings, it's Kristen wide and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Krissy picks up where she left off, giving a BEATING to a wobbly 'Nessa. Hudgens keeping the guard high, clinching in spots, but getting touched up and badly, as bell POUNDS body and lands hard shots to the head and DOWN GOES 'NESSA! A left hook from Krissy sends the brunette crashing to her left side. And, just as promised, Bell stands over 'Nessa's prone body before being forced to a neutral corner by the referee. 'Nessa still on the canvas at six, but sits up at seven and gets to her feet at nine. Referee gives her the mandatory and ON COMES KRISSY! Bell giving it to the brunette with both hands, battering her into the ropes again and absolutely abusing her. Referee on a hair-trigger, ready to leap in at any moment, but Hudgens doing just enough to keep him at bay. Brunette still standing as the bell rings, but she's very unsteady on her way back to the corner. It's 10-8 Krissy, and Bell now leads 29-27.

ROUND FOUR:

Bell all about the finish now. Blonde stepping to the listing 'Nessa and giving her everything she's got. Short, power shot to the body bunches the brunette up, setting up hooks and uppercuts to the head. Hudgens a wreck, blood dripping from the nose, face puffing, body pinking as the Krissy just keeps the punishment train running at full steam. Referee watching very closely as folks in the crowd and those at the press tables wonder aloud about how much longer he can let this go on. By mid-round, brunette is backed to the ropes and taking again. Bell throwing the kitchen sink at her looking to send her back to the canvas. Somehow, 'Nessa staying up, but she's wobbly-legged and looking ready to go at any second. Ref continues to remain at bay, however, allowing Krissy to punish her rival right to the bell. When it rings, the blonde's pitched a shutout and stretched her lead to 39-36.

ROUND FIVE:

Bell looking arm-weary as this one begins. No wonder. She's been winging away for the better part of three rounds. Blonde still forcing the action, working some body, but the work rate has slowed considerably, and that gives the brunette something she's lacked since the first, breathing room. Hudgens' legs nowhere near where they need to be for her to get back to the war of movement, so she clinches, bangs back to the body, slows things even further. By the final minute, Hudgens seems to be shaking off the worst of the damage, and she's getting the better of the exchanges, forcing the blonde to the defensive a few times and actually landing some hard shot for the first time since Krissy wobbled her back in the second. Bell actually backed up a couple of times late, and, when the final seconds tick away in the stanza, it's 'Nessa in control. And, it's also 'Nessa who grabs the round close to cut her deficit to 48-46 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Hudgens back on the move. Has the legs back under her now and she's making use of them. She's bouncin' and misbehavin', snapping out jabs, circling, reversing, powdering the blonde's face repeatedly with left hands, then stopping and popping briefly before getting back on the move. Bell trying to cut the ring, but being frustrated, because 'Nessa's constantly stopping and holding her with the jab. And, if 'Nessa's in control in the first half of the round, things get even better for the brunette in the second half. She's completely in rhythm, landing more and better punches and slipping almost all of the blonde's rejoinders. Final thirty seconds sees 'Nessa land her best flurry of the fight, snapping Bell's head back with a nasty right hand right at the bell. Hudgens gives the blonde a smoldering stare before heading back to her corner. She's claimed the round wide and is now within a point, down 57-56.

ROUND SEVEN:

Hudgens continuing her roll. And, there doesn't seem to be anything Kristen can do to slow it down at the moment. The blonde tries. She works the feet hard, looking to slow 'Nessa down by cutting the ring, but, it's not happening. Vanessa commanding things with that jab and those athletic legs, doing what she wants when she wants. BOOM! 'Nessa stops, pops, and ROCKS THE BLONDE with a vicious right hand! Bell wobbles, nearly goes down. Vanessa goes all in, hammering the older fighter with brutal flurry of punches and it's all too much! DOWN GOES KRISTEN! Bell puddling at Hudgens' feet. Vanessa staring down at her rival's back before being ordered stridently to a neutral corner by the referee, who then begins counting over the fallen blonde. Kristen pushes up to all fours as he reaches seven, but slowly sinks back to her belly! It's OVER! And your winner by KO7 in comeback fashion is Vanessa Hudgens!

AFTER:

'Nessa definitely looking like she's been in a fight in the post-fight, face puffy and one eye sporting a nice mouse, but you wouldn't know it by the comments. "It's like I said," says the brunette. "Girls like Krissy and Natalie and Mishy are YESTERDAY'S NEWS. It's OUR time now. MY generation. And, I am the greatest flyweight of this generation. Meaning, this is the Age Of Vanessa Hudgens. So. Sit back and enjoy it."
