Kaya Scodelario versus Shay Mitchell

(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)

(Girls Friday vs Pretty Little Punchers)

Intro:
Two of today's elite bantamweights do battle for the first time ever, Kaya Scodelario meets Shay Mitchell in the ring.

Kaya is 26 years old; she stands 5'6 and holds a record of 28 wins, all by knockout and 6 defeats, she is a former FCBA bantamweight champion.

Shay is 31 years old; she stands 5'7 ½ and holds a record of 30 wins, 28 by knockout and 20 defeats, she is also a former FCBA bantamweight champion.

Both fighters were asked by the FCBA to do open workouts, with Kaya up first; sparring with Sophia Bush before she went to speak to the press.

Asked about how big she feels this fight is, Kaya says "look there are not many fighters I like or respect, me and the Pretty Little Punchers are friendly I'll admit from my friendship with Ashley Benson, but that doesn't stop me saying Shay is one of the best and meaning it without bias"

She continues "I have seen her train, she might be the hardest worker I have seen but I know that I can beat her, she has flaws that I am going to expose to remind you guys why I am the true queen of this division"

A journalists asks before Kaya leaves about who the other fighters she respects are, turning back Kaya admits "I hate Emily Van Camp but she is good, Chloe Bennett is someone I want to have a crack at and of course my former friend Nina Dobrev is great, my favourite is my friend Ashley Benson though"

Shay is sparring with Troian Bellisario in a hard session, one that ends with both embracing and Shay heard thanking her friend for the session.

Getting out the ring and putting her gold gloves down under her corner as she sits on the ring apron, Shay is asked what this fight means to her.

She replies "Well Kaya has done so much in the past 2 years, she has caught up to me as quickly as me and the other PLP girls honestly believe she would, so this is a great fight to see which of us truly is the best around"

The next question is about what she sees as Kaya's weakness, Shay smiles as she answers "maybe I should keep that a secret, Kaya is a friend after all" winking as she laughs.

Continuing by saying "I think she doesn't like being pressured, I have watched her and Ashley spar at our gym, when Ashley pushed her back she looked afraid to fight out her guard, I love being on the front foot so that suits me perfectly"

Fight night; out comes Kaya with Taryn Terrell and Eva Carneiro by her sides, she looks all business as she marches down to the ring, knowing she needs all her focus tonight to overcome this test.

She is wearing a red sports bra, black and red chequered trunks, red gloves and black shoes, her hair is up in a ponytail.

Getting into the ring; Kaya jogs over to her corner and flexes her arms to the crowd, before turning and warming up as she stares at the aisle waiting for her opponent.

Shay now comes out with Nia Peeples by her side, she also looks in the zone as she heads down to the ring with her eyes locked onto the ring.

She is wearing a dark blue sports bra, matching trunks with three yellow stripes up the side, blue shoes with yellow laces and gold gloves, her hair is braided.

Climbing into the ring; Shay rushes over to her corner and mounts the bottom rope, tapping her chest with her right glove as she roars to her fans, before hopping down and begins to limber up.

Both women head to the center of the ring, where they stare each other down while shaking their arms and legs to keep limber, a lot of tension in the ring as both know how dangerous the other is.

As they are told to touch gloves, respectfully they do as told and even wish each other good luck, heading to their corners quickly enough to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
Both women start off behind their jabs, each testing the others defences out as they circle, they look to have a laser focus on the other.
Shay's height looks to be the difference at this early stage, she is landing the cleaner shots as Kaya looks to come in closer to work.
Which she successfully does after dodging a straight by dipping down, Kaya lands a stiff body shot in reply and comes over the top with an overhand left.
Kaya is the one pushing the pace first, working the body of her opponent as she has her head down and is putting Shay on the back foot.
The PLP fighter needing to nudge Kaya back with a left forearm to the chest, before getting on the move to catch the Brit to the face with a double jab.
Now it is Shay's turn to push her opponent back, keeping Kaya behind her guard as she throws several punches up top, before she switches to the body.
Kaya gives Shay a shove to her face and lands a right across her cheek, followed by an uppercut that knocks Mitchell back.
The round soon comes to an end with Kaya the one knocking Shay back around the ring, the girls nod at the other as they pass by each other to show respect.
Though it is the Girls Friday camp looking happier after this opening round, Taryn telling her to keep the pressure on her opponent to open her up.
Round 2:
This time as they come out; both are throwing more punches at a time, while they bob and weave to dodge as both show off their technical skills.
Shay feints and catches Kaya out with a straight to the top of her head, followed by a left across her face to knock her backwards.
Kaya is driven behind her gloves around the ring, Shay's work rate is stopping her coming out her guard as she is under an onslaught from Shay.
Who manages to get a jab through the mitts of Scodelario, followed by a right to turn the Brit's head and soon she sends her opponent onto the ropes.
Shay is really bringing it to Kaya, barking with effort as she goes to work, landing shots to the ribs and around the guard of Kaya to make her groan out, till Kaya pulls her into a clinch.
Once the referee breaks them apart; Shay looks to keep pressing Kaya back, but she is too keen as she misses with a right and gets punished with an overhand right across her lips.
With Kaya coming on strong as she is bashing Shay to the face with straight punches to knock her back across the ring.
The bell rings with Shay looking much happier as she heads back to her corner, getting a smile from Nia; who praises her work rate and tells her to keep the tempo up.
Round 3:
Shay again starts off strong; pumping her jab into the gloves of the more defensively minded Kaya as she looks for an opening to really bash her opponent back.
But as Shay goes to land a right cross; Kaya slips under it and counters with a right to the abs of Shay to make her groan out.
Kaya now is in the face of Shay, with both women exchanging stiff shots as they crowd cheer on both, with Kaya ending the exchange with a left nudging Shay and a right bashing her opponent across her face.
Shay is stuck behind her guard as Kaya is now pushing her back around the ring, with Kaya landing more punches cleanly as they trade.
A right busts open the bottom lip of Shay to give her a few more worries, with a left/right combo snapping the head of the Canadian.
With Shay needing to clinch up after being knocked onto the ropes, the referee coming in to separate the two as Kaya looks keen to keep on top of things.
But as seconds tick away in the round, Shay comes firing back and it leads to both planting their feet to trade stiff shots that knock sweat off of each other.
The round comes to a close with the crowd standing and cheering both women on, though it is only Kaya smiling as she pulls back ahead in this fight.
Though as Taryn points out to her "great round but you've pissed her off, now the fight really begins" with Kaya looking a little surprised to hear that but nods when she realises it is true.
Round 4:
Shay as predicted by Taryn comes out looking to take the fight to Kaya, who tries to stick and move to counter the more straight forwards attacking Mitchell.
As Kaya tries to dip down to come inside; Shay lands a double jab to the top of her head, then a right hook that puts Kaya onto the back foot.
It's Shay landing the better punches at this junction, knocking Kaya back when the younger fighter tries to come in close to work.
Kaya manages to duck down this time to work the body of Shay, BUT AS SHE IS NUDGED BACK, SHAY OPENS HER UP WITH A STRAIGHT AND LANDS TWO HOOKS CLEAN THAT SEND KAYA TO HER BACK!
The crowd roar for Shay as she pumps her right fist into the air, 1...2...3.. Kaya is blinking as she stares up at the ceiling, 4...5...6 she manages to sit up and looks angry as much at herself as she is at Shay, 7...8.. She pushes herself up and beats the count.
When they are ordered to continue, Shay as expected comes on the attack; driving Kaya behind her gloves as the Girls Friday fighter is in retreat.
Shay starts to find some gaps to catch Kaya to her face, but can't pin her down as Kaya's legs look fine after the knockdown, only Shays aggressiveness is what is stopping Kaya fighting back.
The round ends with Shay jogging back to her corner, she looks across the ring at a frustrated Kaya and can't help herself from smirking, Nia telling her "good job, now finish it!" As the two nod.
While Kaya gets told off by Taryn for leaving herself open, especially knowing that Shay packs a punch, they talk tactics as they know that Kaya has to turn things around.
Round 5:
The round begins as expected as Shay comes on the front foot, with Kaya looking more elusive in her upper body movement though.
When Shay comes in with a left cross after landing a jab; KAYA LEANS OUT THE WAY AND COUNTERS WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT KNOCKS SHAY'S HEAD BACK, THE FOLLOW UP RIGHT HOOK SENDS HER DOWN TO THE CANVAS!
It's Kaya's turn to pump her right fist into the air as she jogs to a neutral corner, 1...2...3.. Shay is now the one shaking her head, trying to get her bearings, 4...5...6 she turns to all fours and stares over at Kaya, 7...8.. Before shoving her way to her feet with a wobble.
The referee let's her continue and both women trade single shots, though it's with Shay now backing up and Kaya the one looking aggressive.
It becomes clear as Kaya parries Shay's punches and lands the cleaner shots, that the knockdown is still affecting Mitchell.
With a straight landing on those bloody lips and a left hook across her chin sends her tumbling into the ropes, WHERE KAYA STARTS SLIDING THROUGH THE GUARD OF SHAY TO KNOCK HER HEAD BACK, SHAY ISN'T THROWING ANYTHING BACK AS SHE LOOKS STUCK TO THE ROPES, LEADING TO THE REFEREE STEPPING IN TO STOP THE FIGHT!

Winner Kaya Scodelario TKO Round 5

After:
The crowd look stunned at the stoppage; with Shay rubbing her now bloody nose and trying to protest that the referee stopped the fight too early.

Kaya meanwhile doesn't celebrate much, she raises her right fist in the air as she heads back to her corner, but mainly doesn't want to go overboard as she likes Shay too much to rub the victory in her face.

Instead after both women are cleaned up and Shay has calmed down after arguing with the referee on wobbly legs, they come together at the center of the ring and embrace.

Kaya tells Shay "I guess Ashley wasn't lying when she said you hit like a truck" smiling as Shay laughs and replies "you put me down too remember, so you certainly don't hit with pillow fists"

Both exchange praise for the other as their coaches talk away from those two about the referee, before all of them come together for the final announcement.

Kaya looks deeply proud of herself as her arm is raised and the PLP team applaud her, Kaya and Shay embrace one more time as Kaya is heard saying "once I deal with that blonde bimbo Jenny McCarthy and I hope Chloe Bennett, maybe you call me for a rematch"

Shay smiles as she replies "well I have my own big plans to, but I definitely want to slug it out with you again someday babe" the two shaking hands to show this won't be the last time these elite fighters meet again.

The PLP team all leave together, Shay maybe annoyed that she didn't end things when she had the chance, but tomorrow is another day and Shay will be back in title contention before you know it.

In the ring Kaya gets a microphone and tells Jenny McCarthy to come out here, Taryn looks surprised as she obliviously didn't know Kaya planned to do this.

Jenny takes the invite and comes down the aisle with her confident strut and smirk on show, Kaya waving Taryn aside as she tries to talk her out of whatever she wants to do.

As Jenny enters the ring with her own fists taped, the future opponents get right into each others face, the referee and the Girls Friday team stand close by as photos are taken of this moment.

Words like hooker and old hag are exchanged as the hate from both is evident to see, this isn't for show as some in the press though as Kaya can be heard telling Jenny that they can throw down now.

But Jenny surprises some by taking a few steps back, holding her hands up as if to say she doesn't want any, before slapping Kaya and turning around to shout "I've still got it!"

As she goes to leave the ring; an irate Kaya shouts "where are you going?!" And drags Jenny back by her hair, both women exchange slaps and body shots as they get the first taste what the other brings.

Security and the GF crew jump in to pry both women apart, who look ready to batter each other as the crowd wants them to be freed so they can fight now.

Kaya shouts "one month bytch! That's all you have to hide from me and play silly games!" As Jenny is pulled out the ring and is shouting about Kaya being a nobody.

These two will fight next month and no matter how much their coaches want these two apart, it looks like nothing will stop them getting at the other as the battle between the old school and new class has begun.
