Intro:
The opening bout tonight is the first semi final of the New Blood bantamweight tournament; Makenzie Vega and Kathryn Newton both make their debuts tonight in New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall.

Makenzie is 25 years old; she stands 5'5, she is most famous for being in the Good Wife, also she is the younger sister of Alexa Vega.

Kathryn is 22 years old; also standing 5'5, she is famous for roles in Big Little Lies and she has a part in the Detective Pikachu movie coming out this year.

The fighters were interviewed on the FCBA Network by Lucy Liu, with Makenzie on the set first with her mentor, who just happens to be her sibling Alexa.

That is making Makenzie smile as she tells Lucy "I was so lucky Alexa was allowed to mentor me, nothing beats having family in your corner" with Alexa looking excited to back up her little sister.

Lucy asks Makenzie what got her invested in joining the FCBA, she replies "Alexa had a run in it that she told me was amazing, some of the stories she tells me and the rest of the family are eye opening, I couldn't not step into the ring after that"

Alexa butts in to tell Lucy "I'll admit I'm not unbias but Makenzie definitely has the look of a boxer when she steps into the ring, physically I know she works hard so I have no worries for her in this tournament" the two sisters putting an arm around the others shoulder.

"Kathryn might be a good fighter, hell the other girls we'll have to go through might be, I'm the one whose going to emerge the best" says a confident Makenzie.

Kathryn now gets interviewed with her mentor Leven Rambin sitting beside her on the couch, Leven looking serious as her protégé is looking excited to be chatting to Lucy.

When asked about her motivates for joining the FCBA, Kathryn answers "I've been following the organization since I was a teen, the fights look so exciting; now I get the chance to become part of the future of the FCBA"

Lucy asks Leven about how the training went, she replies "Kathryn is keen; I'll give her that, she has some skills but I think it's her toughness that is going to be her best feature you are going to see"

With the final question being how Kathryn feels about her fellow competitors in the tournament, she says "I'll keep my talking to these" putting her fists up with a wink to Lucy.

Fight night; out comes Makenzie with Alexa beside her, she looks cool and confident as she bounces on her toes at the top of the aisle, then begins her walk to the ring with a small smile on her face.

She is wearing a black sports bra with green trim, matching trunks and shoes, her gloves are all black, while her brunette hair is in a ponytail.

Stepping into the ring, she rushes to her corner to mount the bottom ropes, yelling "this is my house!" To cheers from her fans, she hops back down to embrace with her sister before she begins her warm up.

Kathryn comes out now with Leven; who looks serious as she tells her protégé "get in there and batter that bytch!" To a nod from Newton.

Who jogs down to the ring wearing a tan coloured sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, her blonde hair is also in a ponytail.

After getting into the ring; Kathryn blows kisses to her fans as she heads over to her corner, warming up with her coach giving her a pep talk.

The fighters come to the center of the ring; they look each other up and down, confidently smirking as they clearly don't see anything that worries them about their rival.

They slam their gloves together when prompted by the referee, then return to their corners ready for the bell to ring to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
The fighters start off trading probing punches, circling as they look for openings to exploit, they look very similar in speed as they bounce up on their toes.

It's Makenzie who lands the first telling punch, landing a jab to the nose of her opponent, following with a right cross that turns the blonde fighters head.

The older fighter starts to push forwards with punches slamming off the gloves of Newton, who is moving around the outside of the ring.

When Makenzie misses with a left cross; Kathryn lands a counter right to the body, then an overhand left lands across the cheek of the brunette to make her back up.

The fighters soon fall into trading in close range, slamming away to the others body as the crowd roars the two fighters on.

Makenzie lands an uppercut that straightens up her opponent, with a left cross lands to allow her to punish Kathryn, driving her onto a set of ropes as Newton covers up under the assault.

The round ends with Vega smirking as she returns to her corner, Alexa smiling proudly at her sibling as they discuss the first round.

Round 2:
Makenzie looks to keep on top of things, stepping forwards more with straight shots, while Kathryn dances around her.

Both land stiff shots to the others face as they work around the ring, Makenzie throwing a right cross that Kathryn dips under, countering with two rights to the abs of her opponent.

After Makenzie nudges Kathryn back to the outside, she looks to land a straight shot that this time the blonde sidesteps, with a right landing on Vega's lips to make her grunt loudly.

Now it's Kathryn taking control of the action, she is ducking out the way of punches, before landing overhand punches that makes the brunette retreat backwards.

A straight drills Makenzie on her nose, allowing Kathryn to drive her onto the ropes, where she works the body of her older rival, making Vega groan out with each hit that lands cleanly around her guard.

The round soon ends with Kathryn fist pumping as she returns to her corner, Leven telling her to stop that till she wins, with Kathryn nodding at her.

Round 3:
Now both fighters are warmed up they go in harder, letting their hands go more as they slug it out near the center of the ring.

Kathryn steps back out the way of a left cross, with two counter punches landing on top of her opponent's head, knocking sweat from it as she steps forwards.

The blonde is starting to push the tempo, forcing Makenzie to fight off the back foot as her coach looks pleased.

But Makenzie is able to catch Kathryn on her nose with a jab, just missing an uppercut as the younger fighter dances back out the way, it gives Makenzie the room to move off the ropes though.

Both fighters faces are starting to show marks, with them nearly bumping heads as they slam their punches into the others bodies.

Late in the round Kathryn slips under a straight and comes up with an overhand left that lands to the side of her opponent's head, with her able to drive Vega back across the ring.

The bell rings to end the round; the fighters taking a moment to glare at each other, then turn to head back to their corners.

Makenzie annoyed as she sits down, Alexa telling her "come on sis! Don't frown as I know you can remind that s**t whose the boss in this ring" Makenzie smiles at that as she looks at her sister.

Round 4:
Both exchange flurries of punches to start, stepping inside to work before they dance backwards, looking to land a harder punch.

Kathryn lands a jab/straight combination, opening up Makenzie to more punches to her face as she forces her on the way back towards the ropes.

Once she has Makenzie on the ropes, Kathryn ends up getting nudged back by the left forearm of the brunette, AN UPPERCUT CATCHES KATHRYN ON HER CHIN TO PUT HER DOWN ON THE CANVAS!

Makenzie raises her arms in the air as she struts over to the neutral corner, 1...2...3...4.. Kathryn sits up and stares over at Makenzie, who mockingly waves for her to get up, 5...6...7...8.. After wiping her brow, Kathryn shoves herself to her feet, eyes narrowed as she stares at her opponent.

The referee allows the fight to continue, with Kathryn trying to match Makenzie in a classic brawl, the older fighter catches Newton with two cross punches, forcing the younger fighter behind her gloves.

Kathryn ending up forced to cover up as Makenzie bullies her around the ring, a confident look on Vega's face as she walks down her opponent.

Till the round ends; Makenzie jogging back to her corner with her arms up in the air, getting patted on her back by her sibling as she sits down.

While across the ring Kathryn is being yelled at by Leven, with Kathryn getting her face washed down, she doesn't look in the mood to be shouted at.

Round 5:
As the action begins; Kathryn is boxing more off the back foot, Makenzie hunting her down around the ring with her punches drilling off the guard.

Feinting with her left; Makenzie lands a right hook around the guard of Kathryn, as the younger fighter moves in that direction.

The blonde opened up for more punches to her face, with a right busting open her bottom lip, Makenzie driving her into a corner as Kathryn quickly clinches up

After they are broken apart; Makenzie keeps looking to keep the pressure on, stepping forwards behind her jab as she keeps the center of the ring.

Kathryn shows off some impressive defensive skills as she seems to have shaken off the knockdown she suffered in the last round.

Makenzie missing with a left cross; instead Kathryn lands two straight punches that knocks the head back, followed by more punches that forces Vega backwards.

The final few seconds of the round sees both fighters slug it out, duelling chants ring out as the fighters look to take the others heads off in scruffy exchanges till the round ends.

Both women shake heads at each other, annoyed that they can't seem to take control of this fight for long periods, Makenzie though gets praised by Alexa as she sits down, Kathryn still getting a scowl from Leven.

Round 6:
Makenzie continues to be the one pushing the pace early on, catching Kathryn on her bloody lip to open her up to more harder shots across her face.

The Good Wife star has the center of the ring again, landing shots to the face of Kathryn; who is having to cover up as she looks for a way back into this fight.

Kathryn times her counter attack; deflecting a straight off her gloves as she quickly steps inside to land a counter right to the side of her opponent's face.

Quickly following up with her right drilling into the ribs of Makenzie, who uses her left to nudge back Kathryn again, with more punches landing cleanly on the brunette.

The two fighters start rubbing heads as they trade body shots, gasps can be heard escaping both fighters lips as they try to push the other back.

Late in the round; Kathryn leans out the way of a left, landing a counter right to the side of her rivals head to turn it, more punches knock sweat from Makenzie's head.

When the bell rings both fighters unwisely continue throwing punches, their coaches rush out to pull them apart, Makenzie's lip is now bleeding to match Kathryn's.

The fighters are read the riot act by their coaches, who are understandably not happy about them losing control of their tempers, especially as things are getting close between them again.

Round 7:
They begin straight away on the inside, heads down as they work away; nearly clashing heads as they look like two animals bumping heads for dominance.

It's Kathryn who breaks the deadlock; landing an uppercut to the body, then leaning out the way of an uppercut from her opponent.

Who is left open to a right straight on the solar plexus; Makenzie gasps out as suddenly Kathryn starts unloading on her body.

When Makenzie goes to clinch up; she is shoved to the face by the left glove of Kathryn, A RIGHT BURIALS ITSELF INTO THE BODY OF MAKENZIE, WHO BENDS DOWN INTO A LEFT/RIGHT COMBO ON HER TEMPLES, THAT SENDS HER FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS!

This time it's Kathryn telling Makenzie to get up and fight, the referee needing to order her to a neutral corner, 1...2...3...4.. Makenzie is stirring as she looks up, 5...6...7.. But she is trying to clear her head by blinking, not much more movement though as 8....9... Alexa shouts at her sister to get up 10 but she is counted out!

Winner Kathryn Newton KO Round 7

After:
This was a tensely fought affair; one Kathryn can proudly put on her record as she heads on to the main event later, a chance to be this years New Blood champion awaits.

Which is why she celebrates by mounting the bottom ropes of the corner she was in, yelling "I'm bringing home the title" to a loud roar from her fans.

While Alexa helps Makenzie to her feet slowly, her younger sister is still shaky as she uses Alexa as a crutch to stay standing, the loser staring angrily at the winner.

Kathryn sees and waves for Makenzie to leave the ring, annoying the Vega sisters as Alexa yells "you were lucky bytch, next time my sister will knock you out!"

Leven steps in to tell Kathryn to return to their corner, clearly she isn't in the mood for her fighter to get more bruises and cuts before the final.

The Vega sisters leave the ring as soon as Makenzie finds her feet, with Makenzie promising Alexa she'll do better in her next fight, with Alexa replying that she knows she will.

Inside the ring Leven surprisingly doesn't look that happy with Kathryn, telling her where she has to improve before the final, pointing out that bloody lip is already going to be a handicap for her, unless her fellow finalist picks up an injury too.

Kathryn just nods as she doesn't want to argue with Leven, instead she wants to be happy as the referee soon raises her hand up, the winner poses with her other arm flexed for her fans.

Then her and Leven leave the ring together, both still discussing the fight as Kathryn wants to just focus on the final, with either Bailee Madison or Jessica Sula standing in her way of glory.
