Intro:
It's time for the main event here in New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall! The New Blood bantamweight tournament final is up, Kathryn Newton and Jessica Sula are looking to add their name to the trophy alongside past winners Saorise Ronan and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Kathryn is 22 years old; standing 5'5, she won her debut fight earlier tonight against Makenzie Vega by knockout in the seventh round.

Jessica is 24 years old; she also stands 5'5 and holds a record of 1 win, that was by knockout and 1 defeat.

Both fighters were interviewed by the FCBA Networks Lucy Liu before the fight, with Kathryn finishing discussing tactics with her mentor Leven Rambin.

Lucy asks Kathryn how she feels going into this final, she smiles as she answers "I'm feeling great; though my lip is sore from that bytch Makenzie busting it open, hopefully it has no effect on this fight"

Leven butts in "I've given Kathryn all my help, she is as ready as she is going to be" Kathryn doesn't look too happy at being interrupted by her mentor.

Lucy turns back to Kathryn, asking if Jessica worries her, Kathryn replies "I saw she knocked out Bailee, I'm sure I can take her power though and take home the trophy"

Now Lucy heads to Jessica's locker room, where she has finished up warming up with help from her mentor Leven Rambin.

With Jessica asked the same question about how she feels, the Welsh lass answers "getting that first win was a massive weight off my shoulders, now my focus is on beating Kathryn"

When asked how she rates her opponent, Jessica says "she looked good in her fight, nothing that worries me though as I think I've proven what I can do inside that ring now"

Erin tells Lucy "this is the fighter to watch in this division, I'm proud to have been able to work with her" with Erin and Jessica hugging to show how close they've grown together.

Fight night; the New Blood trophy is sitting on a podium at the bottom of the aisle, showing what is at stake for both these young starlets.

First to come out is Kathryn with Leven beside her, Kathryn raises her fists in the air as she bounces on her toes, then begins to jog down to the ring, giving a quick glance to the trophy, looking focused though as she heads to the steps.

She is wearing a tan coloured sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, her blonde hair is also in a ponytail.

After getting into the ring; Kathryn jogs over to her corner, where she holds her gloves against the fists of Leven, who is telling her to grab this moment with both hands, Kathryn nodding in reply at her.

Out comes Jessica with Erin beside her, Jessica grinning as she stares down at the ring, as she passes the trophy; Erin tells her that the trophy will be hers, now is her time to show she's the best.

She is wearing a white sports bra with red trim, white trunks with a red dragon across them, red gloves and shoes, while her hair is up in a ponytail.

Getting into the ring with a smile on her face, Jessica looks relaxed as she limbers up in her corner, her and Erin discussing the tactics.

The fighters come to the center of the ring, an intense stare down occurs as the fighters go nose to nose, the crowd watching intently if anything kicks off between the fighters.

Instead nothing happens; they step back and thud their gloves together, then return to their corners to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
The action begins at the center of the ring, neither looks afraid to let their hands go as they move around the center of the ring.

Jessica lands the first meaningful punches, a jab/straight combination opens up her opponent to a few more punches that allows her to begin backing her up.

Once she misses with a left cross as Kathryn sidesteps her, it is Kathryn who begins opening up with several punches up top herself.

With both fighters getting into each others face, trading it out in tight as they work the others bodies, grunts escaping their lips.

Till Kathryn surprises Jessica by stepping back out the way of an uppercut, countering with a left hook that turns her opponent's face.

The blonde fighter begins to back up Sula, landing punches to the face of her rival, forcing her to the outside of the ring as Jessica covers up.

As the round comes to a close; Jessica struggles to break out her guard, Kathryn keeping her pinned behind it as the bell rings to end the round.

Kathryn turns back to her corner with a nod over to her coach, Leven returning the nod as she tells her fighter a good job for the opening round.

Round 2:
Kathryn starts to land more on the move to find different angles to strike from, making Jessica a little weary as she tightens her guard.

As Kathryn looks to step inside; she gets caught on her fat lip by a straight, followed by two more punches that pushes the blonde back.

Jessica is quick to press forwards, making Kathryn the one to cover up as she is under the assault from the Welsh lass, who continues to headhunt like her semi final fight.

When Kathryn is near the ropes; she comes out fighting as both fighters let their hands go, scruffily trading as they look to push the other backwards.

An uppercut just misses Kathryn; but Jessica is quick to use her left shoulder to bump her onto the ropes, where Jessica unloads on the defending American fighter.

The round comes to an end with Jessica pumping her fist in the air, Erin the coach smiling as her fighter returns, washing down Jessica's face as they discuss what to do next.

Round 3:
The early action begins similar to the other two rounds, both fighters looking to establish control as quickly as possible, with Jessica the one who seems to find it.

A jab catches Kathryn on her lips, causing blood to run from her reopened cut, making her tighten her guard up as Jessica comes on the front foot.

The Welsh fighter drills more punches into the guard of Newton, pinning her behind her gloves as she drives her around the outside of the ring.

Kathryn is able to flick out several jabs that catch Jessica on her face, soon enough though a right hook catches her across the face, opening her up to more power punches that send her into the ropes.

Where Newton clinches up with Sula, a few taunts can be seen being exchanged between the fighters, with the referee needed to break them up.

Once they resume it's Kathryn surprisingly who starts to get stronger, Jessica looks too keen as she wants to keep on top of her opponent, leaving herself open to counter punches when Kathryn dodges her easily read shots.

The bell rings to end another strong round for Jessica, who looks much more the relaxed of the two fighters as she returns to her corner, getting praised off Erin about how she has ripped control of this fight into her own hands.

Round 4:
Kathryn looks a little apprehensive as she comes out, trying to protect her bloody lip as her opponent hunts her around the ring.

Jabs are the main weapon for both right now, slinging them into the others face PR gloves, as Kathryn retreats around the ring.

Maybe she was laying a trap as she suddenly springs forwards with a straight into the nose of her opponent, Kathryn starts to back up Jessica now with her own punches snapping the head back of Sula.

Who gives Kathryn a shove to her jugs, moving back to reset her stance as the blonde fighter wants to keep on the attack.

This time though it is Kathryn who is too keen, getting caught with a left cross as she steps inside, an uppercut knocks her back a step as Jessica comes back on the attack.

Soon the fighters fall in tight; heads rubbing as they throw stiff shots to the body, groans can be heard as the fighters struggle for dominance.

The round comes to a close with a shove from both women, eyes full of fire as the referee stands between them, showing how much this title means to them.

Round 5:
Kathryn tries to use the same tactic this round, wanting Jessica to chase her down so she can catch her out, with both exchanging stiff single punches.

When she does go to strike; JESSICA SEES IT COMING AND LANDS AN UPPERCUT THAT SENDS KATHRYN ON HER BACK!

Leven is irate in Newton's corner; throwing her arms in the air, 1...2...3...4.. Kathryn shakes her head as she sits up, blood runs down her chin onto her bust, 5...6...7.. She pushes herself to a knee 8.. Then beats the count with her eyes angrily locked onto her opponent.

The referee checks her then let's them resume, Jessica comes on the front foot, firing punches towards the head of Kathryn, who is retreating back with her guard up.

Kathryn is able to land out of her guard, a right lands onto her lips though to stop that as she has to deflect a left hook that had some real venom behind it.

Jessica can't break through that guard to do much more damage, the round ending with her looking surprisingly frustrated of the two, Erin needing to remind her she has taken a massive step forwards in this fight.

While across the ring Kathryn is being yelled at, Leven not happy with what she sees isn't Kathryn listening to her, Kathryn getting her face washed down by her corner team.

Round 6:
Jessica looks to finish this now it seems judging by her coming straight at Kathryn, who is moving side to side looking to stay out the firing line.

After landing a double jab to the face of the blonde, JESSICA GOES TO LAND AN UPPERCUT, KATHRYN SIDESTEPS HER BEFORE LANDING A RIGHT ONTO THE NOSE OF THE WELSH LASS, SENDING HER TO HER BACKSIDE!

Blood can be seen running now from the nose of Jessica, 1...2...3... She wipes her nose and sees the blood, 4...5...6...7.. That looks to have annoyed Jessica as she pushes herself up at 8.

After being checked on Jessica is allowed to continue, she looks to get back at Kathryn as her temper seems to have gripped her.

Instead it is Kathryn who is dodging then countering, punches landing on the bloody nose of Jessica to shove her back behind her guard.

Leven is roaring for Kathryn to batter Jessica, with both fighters letting their hands go near a set of ropes, blood and sweat is coming off both fighters as they get into a fiery exchange.

They fall into a clinch late on in the round, where they exchange shots to the others kidneys, the referee needed to pry them apart as they stare angrily at each other.

The round comes to a close with both fighters looking sore, their coaches wiping them down as they patch them up, eyes locked across the ring as they really want this victory.

Round 7:
Back out come the battle weary fighters, they fall into exchanging in close early on, Jessica looking the stronger of the two as she backs Kathryn up with body shots.

The American covers up as she steps back, Jessica keeping the pressure on as she looks to bash her opponent into submission.

But as she gets Kathryn near the ropes, an uppercut comes up to knock her head back, allowing Kathryn to move into space to work from.

The momentum turns again; Kathryn drilling punches into that bloody nose of her opponent, realising she can't just go for a frontal assault it seems by her movement around her opponent.

Who manages to land a left cross, nearly shoving Kathryn through the ropes as the referee has to step in when the two are locked in a clinch.

When they are pried apart; Jessica manages to get in the face of Kathryn, forcing a heated exchange that has the crowd standing, a duelling chant rings out as the fighters battle on.

The round comes to a close with both women turning back to their corners, coaching teams working hard to get their battered fighters ready for more pain, blood stains their faces, cheeks are swollen as they continue to stare daggers across the ring.

Round 8:
Out come the fighters slower then before; both have been through more then ten rounds tonight, even as young as they are this is gruelling.

Jessica looks to be gaining the upper hand first, landing a straight on those bloody lips, followed by two cross punches that give her the momentum to force her opponent backwards.

When Kathryn's back touches the ropes; she quickly clinches up, the fighters can be seen saying nasty insults into the others ear, the referee breaking them apart soon enough.

Once they resume hostilities; Jessica tries to get back on the front foot, but she misses this time with the straight, instead she gets caught with a right to the gut, followed by an overhand left that turns her head.

Kathryn looks to have found a second wind as she batters the face of her opponent, who can't get her gloves up in time to protect herself as she is driven towards a corner.

Jessica tries to throw a right haymaker, KATHRYN DUCKS IT BEFORE COMING UP WITH AN UPPERCUT, JESSICA'S KNEES BUCKLE THEN FINALLY FALTER AS SHE FALLS TO HER FACE!

Leven jumps for joy as across the ring Erin looks like she is fighting tears back, 1...2...3...4.. Kathryn is leaning against the turnbuckles in the corner she is standing in, staring at Jessica with a hopefully look, 5...6...7.. Jessica begins to stir with her right hand moving, 8...9.. It doesn't move much more though 10 as she is counted out!

Winner Kathryn Newton KO Round 8

After:
Kathryn is the New Blood bantamweight champion for 2019! A hard earned victory; one she clearly won't forget as she falls to her knees covering her face as she cries tears of joy.

Leven applauds her as she steps into the ring, a smile on the veterans face as she looks proud of her protégé's success tonight.

While Erin with the ringside doctor is checking on Jessica, helping her to sit up after she is wakened up with smelling salts.

Understandably Jessica looks downbeat, staring at the canvas with an almost blank look as she fires back the tears, Erin apologetic that things didn't turn out the way they wanted.

Ending up with both embracing as Jessica now knows how Bailee felt after their fight, some in the crowd show no sympathy as they chant for her opponent.

Who is getting helped up by Leven; the two blondes exchange warm smiles for the first time tonight as all the training together the past month has been worth it.

Both fighters are helped to their corners; where they can be cleaned up after the war they went up, marks still cover their swollen cheeks.

They come to the center of the ring; Jessica staring at the canvas as Kathryn gets her hand raised by the referee to a loud roar from her supporters.

Jessica soon leaves the ring with Erin, who tells her that they'll continue to work together to get stronger, that seems to give Jessica some hope as she nods to Erin with a small smile.

Inside the ring; the tournament organiser and committee member Melanie Sykes step into the ring together with the trophy and tiara in hand.

Leven is handed the tiara, which she places on the bowing Kathryn, who wipes away tears before being given the trophy, she holds it aloft as confetti rains on her.

Kathryn is too tired for a victory lap, so settles for posing with Leven beside her, the trophy held up by both women as they smile for the cameras.

Turning to Leven; Kathryn tells her "while I have loved training with you, someday me and you will need to fight in here you know"

"I can't wait to show you why I'll always be your master then" replies Leven as they pose for the cameras in a face off.

They show that is for later though as they smile and embrace, while it might not have been the most friendly of atmospheres in training, this is the moment they worked hard together to create, with Leven looking proud of Kathryn.

Leaving the ring together; Leven promises to give Kathryn a champions worthy party, Kathryn can be heard asking "can it wait a little, my body is too sore to do more then lay on a bed"

"Welcome to the big leagues kid" says Leven with a big grin as Kathryn can't help but laugh as the two head off behind the curtain.
