Morgan Fairchild vs Jaclyn Smith
(Results: Lookout!; Words: GBS)
Circa 1980
This bout was held at a prominent producer’s home and back area which was cleared and a ring and seats had been set up.
Primetime boxing was the catchphrase as this producer hoped to host fights here featuring the leading ladies of television and films. This was his first attempt.
He certainly picked 2 of the hottest ladies on television at the time in Jaclyn Smith and Morgan Fairchild. Both were on or near the top of their respective careers both professionally and in the ring.
It was a classic brunette versus blonde matchup which brought a full house to watch this fight.
Jaclyn Smith enters the ring wearing a green one piece with red gloves.
Morgan Fairchild comes to the ring in a red one piece also with red gloves.
Round 1:
Jaclyn proved the faster boxer as she spikes into Morgan’s face with hard jabs. Soon she is hooking Morgan’s body and Fairchild doesn’t like it. She likes it even less when Jaclyn goes into her chest and body. Fairchild uses her jab to get at Smith’s face in response. However it appears that Morgan is taking a pounding. The round ends and Jaclyn won the round easily.
Round 2-3:
Jaclyn comes out confident but Morgan is the aggressive boxer in the opening of the 2nd round. She threw some hard hooks into Smith’s body. Soon Smith is moving back. Fairchild ups her attacks with some more hooks but a fine right uppercut which clipped Jaclyn’s chin. Smith was lucky to hang on for the rest of the round as Fairchild punched her into the ropes. The third round was a back and forth round. Morgan wanted to build off that huge round for her as she kept the pressure on Jaclyn. She was forcing the brunette back again. Smith did use her jabs and crosses to pepper Morgan’s face and body. Soon the two are exchanging shots to the bodies of each other. Later in the round, Morgan capitalizes on a missed punch by Jaclyn and slams 2 hard straights in Jaclyn’s body. However the bell rings after the second punch lands and the referee jumps between the two boxers. Morgan won those rounds but the 3rd was close.
Round 4:
Morgan comes out looking to continue her dominating ways. But Jaclyn is not backing down or away. Soon the two battle inside at close range. The gloved fists smacking into their sinewy bodies as they grunt after the punches land. Morgan dominated the first two minutes of the round but soon she starts missing her punches. Late in the round, Jaclyn throws a right uppercut to Morgan’s chin. As Morgan goes to move to the side, Smith unloads a hard cross to Fairchild’s jaw. DOWN GOES MORGAN! Jaclyn shuffles to a neutral corner and the referee starts. Morgan gets to her knees and shakes her head to clear the cobwebs. She rises and pulls herself together. Morgan has to back away now as Jaclyn advances. Soon she jabs and keeps Jaclyn at bay and the round ends.
Jaclyn smiles knowing she just stole a round right out from practically under Morgan.
Round 5:
Jaclyn comes out looking to pound Morgan. Smith opens with a couple straights to Fairchild’s body and knocks the wind from her body. Morgan backs up and gets some uppercuts to her face for her movement. Soon Morgan is reeling and Jaclyn follows her. She throws a hard left hook to Morgan’s body and right uppercut to her face. MORGAN DOES DOWN! She falls to the canvas with her back. Jaclyn moves to a neutral corner and the referee begins the count. Morgan moves her legs to a sitting position but can’t rise up enough to stop the count. KO5- Jaclyn Smith.
After:
Jaclyn comes out of neutral corner and soaks in the cheers for her victory. She was then brought to middle of the ring and had her right arm and gloved fist raised. Morgan is in her corner being brought back around after the knockout. She comes around and sees the Charlie’s Angels star celebrating her win. Fairchild can only watch as she was leading the fight and now she had been knocked out. Smith smiled and posed for pictures as the winner. She left the ring not long after to the cheers of the crowd.
