Elizabeth Henstridge versus Sammi Hanratty

(Girls Friday vs The Wannabes)

Intro:

A battle of the Atlantic here as England's Elizabeth Henstridge and Americas Sammi Hanratty do battle for the first time ever, they know a win moves them a step closer to that elite level.

Elizabeth is 32 years old; she stands 5'4, holding a record of 24 wins, all coming by way of knockout, with 14 defeats.

Sammi is 24 years old; she stands 5'1, holding a record of 15 wins, all coming by way of knockout, with 12 defeats.

These two were interviewed before the fight in their locker rooms, first up the FCBA Network interviewer went into the Girls Friday locker room to see Elizabeth stretching.

Taryn Terrell speaks to the interviewer for her fighter, telling them "Elizabeth is starting to find her confidence again, as you saw in her last fight she can be great when she has that self belief"

When asked about her opinion on Elizabeth's opponent, Taryn replies "Sammi has fast hands and a quicker mouth I have seen, she talks herself into more trouble then anything, if she loses focus against Elizabeth it is curtains for her"

The interviewer then headed into the Wannabes locker room, seeing coach Shannen Doherty wrapping the hands of Sammi, who looks up at the interviewer with a big smile.

"I can't wait to put Elizabeth's lights out, I have wanted a rematch with her stablemate Maisie (Williams) for a few months now, hopefully kicking Henstridge's ass will get my point across to her little scrub friend" says the American as Shannan just grins.

The coach then interjects "Sammi you know you have to focus on Elizabeth tonight, all that grudge stuff can be sorted out afterwards, right now winning is all that matters"

With Sammi replying "oh I am here to win, Elizabeth isn't going to know what is hitting her tonight" looking cocky as she grins back at Shannen.

Fight night; Elizabeth is out first with Taryn and Eva Carneiro beside her, she looks focused as she heads down the aisle, nodding with a smile to fans in the front but mostly staring straight ahead at the ring.

The Sheffield lass is wearing a red and white striped sports bra, red shorts and shoes, white gloves with red thumbs as she channels her local team Sheffield United's team colours, her brunette hair is tied back into a ponytail.

Getting into the ring; Elizabeth bows to each side to show respect to the crowd, then heads off to her corner to go through her warm up routine of shadow boxing.

Shannen Doherty leads out her fighter now, Sammi wearing a black hoodie with "hammer" on the back in white letters, Sammi looks confident in her walk down the aisle.

Getting the hoodie taken off after she gets into the ring, Sammi is wearing a black sports bra with white trim, black trunks with "Hammer" in white letters on the front, black shoes and white gloves, her blonde hair is tied into a braid.

As she works Shannan's hands like they were punch pads, Sammi is being told to show off fully how great she is to any doubters.

Soon enough the referee waves the fighters to the ring, staring right into each others eyes, Elizabeth's height advantage is visible as she stares down at Sammi.

The touch of gloves is more a quick swipe, both seeming keen to return to their corners, the bell is signaled to begin 10 rounds of flyweight action.

Round 1:

They both come out their corners up on their toes, Sammi looking the more aggressive of the two fighters out the gate, knowing she can't stay back due to the height advantage of her opponent.

Trading in close range; Sammi aims mostly for the body of Henstridge, making her grunt out as she nearly ends up headbutting the Brit on her chin while stepping forwards.

Needing to be physical herself; Elizabeth uses her left forearm to create a gap, now she rifles a straight into the face of the smaller fighter.

Now Elizabeth is the one controlling the action, knocking back the blonde with punches to the top of her head, making Hanratty back up towards the ropes as the brunette controls the center of the ring.

As the round enters its final minute, Sammi slips a right to land a straight to the abs, before an overhand left strikes across the cheek of her opponent to turn her head.

Elizabeth forced to cover up as Sammi backs her up with a flurry of punches, most don't land clean but the aggression shown by the youngster will be scoring points, the bell ringing to end the round soon enough with the Wannabes corner happy over a strong first round.

Round 2:

Knowing what to expect now from Sammi, Elizabeth starts boxing now on the move more, trying not to get stuck in front of the bulldog like Sammi, who is wanting to get inside quickly to work.

Instead it is Elizabeth controlling the action skillfully, catching Sammi to her face with double jabs and jab/straight combinations, marking up the smaller fighters face.

Needing to read the movements of her opponent better, Sammi is landing mostly single punches to the abs and mouth of the Brit.

As the round is going on; Elizabeth is starting to look more relaxed, throwing more leather into the face of Sammi, who starts to cover up more tightly.

When Henstridge goes for a straight to the nose of her opponent, Sammi ducks it before coming inside with a left/right hook combo to the body, getting her head under Elizabeth's chin as she throws piston like shots to the body.

The round comes to a close with the referee needing to push them apart as Sammi looks like she wants to continue after a bad round for her, Elizabeth getting a nod of approval from Taryn.

Round 3:

Back out they come trading single shots, Sammi moving her head more to dodge, still taking some stiff jabs to her cheek as Elizabeth seems more zoned in on her opponent.

Till the American is able to sidestep a left and lands an overhand right to the side of Elizabeth's head, a follow up left lands to her cheek with Sammi starting to drive forwards.

Elizabeth now covers up as Sammi works her around the outside of the ring, throwing more hooks to the body of Henstridge, making Elizabeth grit her gumshield more in pain.

Needing to nudge back Sammi, Elizabeth tries to reestablish the safe range for her, instead Sammi isn't going to be kept back so easily, leading to a heated exchange in mid range as they bark with effort.

As the round is coming to a close; Sammi lands an uppercut that pushes back her opponent to her heels, Sammi bashing back Elizabeth to the ropes as her supporters roar her on.

But the bell rings before Sammi can do much more, she raises her fists in the air as Elizabeth looks annoyed at herself, returning to their corners to be cleaned up and given advice.

Round 4:

Confidently Sammi is taking the fight to Elizabeth, throwing straight shots into her body, as Elizabeth allows her the center of the ring for now.

Stepping in with two more hooks to the body; Sammi is almost smiling, even as she is shoved back by her opponent, feeling the fight growing into her favour.

Till she goes for a right again; Sammi misses as Elizabeth steps to the side, a left hook crashes into the temple of Sammi, who blinks as she steps back a couple of steps.

Maybe seeing an issue with her opponent, Elizabeth goes for the kill with an uppercut that snaps back Sammi's head, followed by a crunching left hook that sends the blonde into the ropes.

Coming at Sammi; Elizabeth pounds her face with three punches that snaps Hanratty's head back, A LEFT/RIGHT HOOK COMBO ON THE CHIN OF SAMMI SENDS HER TUMBLING DOWN TO HER FACE!

Elizabeth smiles before turning to the neutral corner, 1...2...3.. Sammi looks forwards as she blinks, 4...5...6.. Her gumshield slips out her mouth as she looks glassy eyed, 7...8... Shannen shakes her head as she knows 9....10 it is over!

Winner Elizabeth Henstridge KO Round 4

After:

A great win for Elizabeth as she shows she does have a killer instinct in the ring, though right now she is smiling and jumping up and down like it is Christmas morning.

Compared to Sammi; who is still trying to get her bearings, Shannen helping her to her feet after first making sure she is gonna be OK, getting Sammi over to her stool to clean her up.

"She got a lucky punch on me" Sammi tells her coach, who nods as she wipes sweat from the brow of the blonde, with Sammi complaining still how unlucky she was.

Across the ring Elizabeth is getting her gloves taken off, while Taryn tells her "that's what we have wanted off you for a while, now do that against the elite fighters" Elizabeth nodding with a big grin.

When the fighters are ready; they come to the center of the ring, the final result is announced with Elizabeth's hand getting raised by the referee, she is beaming over this win.

While Sammi shakes her head as she turns her back to Elizabeth, getting helped out the ring by Shannen, they walk up the aisle talking about needing to work harder to make sure things like tonight don't happen again.

Inside the ring Elizabeth blows kisses to her supporters as she walks around the ring, Taryn and Eva looking happy that things seem to be turning around for Elizabeth after a rough year.

As they leave the ring together; Taryn tells Elizabeth frankly "tonight you looked great, but you can't let this momentum go to waste against the heavy hitters in this division" with Elizabeth replying that she won't.
