BEFORE:
"No one expects me to have a chance," says Eva with a smile. "So. No pressure on me. I can just go in there and shock the world. Which is exactly what I'm going to do."
"Look," says Lili with a nod. "I'm not overlooking this girl. Not at all. But, I will be STANDING over her when the night's over."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'You Know My Name' by Chris Cornell, from the 'Casino Royale' soundtrack, and here comes the Bond Girl herself, Eva Green!"
Cassie: "And, more to the point on this Hallowe'en night, Eva ALSO starred in 'Dark Shadows'..."
McCarthy: "And, even MORE to the point, she's a TYPICAL DANCING HOOKER OPPONENT, with NO FCBA wins!"
Tess: "She DOES have a win in the BBU, however..."
McCarthy: "Alert the newspapers!"
Cassie: "Which, back when Mac was young, were carved into stone tablets..."
McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."
O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN, Mac, and let's keep our eyes on the ring, where Eva climbs in and is helped off with the robe to reveal a JMD-ready body that's clearly been training hard for this one. Aaaannndd, that's 'What I've Done' by Linkin Park you hear booming through the arena, and here comes 'Diamond' Lili Reinhart!"
Tess: "And, we'll say this several times tonight, but, Reinhart has NOT cemented her spot on the Tenth Anniversary roster, so, she definitely needs a result tonight."
O'Dell: "Lili into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that white number we've seen before and the crowd popping in appreciation..."
McCarthy: "Philly. Low standards."
O'Dell: "Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Lili. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins. Lili!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Unanimous for the first fight of the evening. And, Reinhart looking to get right to work, coming forward on Eva. Green giving some ground, jabbing, looks to want some space and SHE CATCHES THE BLONDE ONE! Lili took a hard right hand that got her attention and now Eva going all in!"
Cassie: "Not sure if Reinhart's hurt or buzzed or maybe just surprised, but Eva's gone on the offensive..."
O'Dell: "And, in a BIG way! She's letting the hands go and Lili's now giving ground and playing defense. Brunette damning any and all torpedoes as she's looking to turn this early advantage into something big. Lili playing this pretty smart at the moment, Mac..."
McCarthy: "Smart? None of Weirdo's girls, except Stewart, are SMART!"
O'Dell: "Thirty to go in a fast-paced first. Green continuing to fight lead, landing hard right hands off solid left jabs. Reinhart countering here and there, but mostly taking instead of giving. Five seconds to go. One more flurry from the brunette and there's the bell. Eva. Wide."
Tess: "And up 10-9."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Green after Reinhart again early. Lili still giving ground. Doesn't look hurt. Seems to have the legs under her, but, my suspicion is, she's learned from similar situations that riding something like this out is probably the best course of action. And, riding it out seems to be the plan..."
Tess: "How many times have we seen this in the FCBA? An underdog's taking chances looking for an upset..."
O'Dell: "Exactly. And the blonde not going to play into it, at least at the moment. Lili getting some more done this round, though the brunette's still fighting lead and Reinhart's mostly working in counter. Front Streeter landing some good shot in the counter though."
Cassie: "Sure is. Closer round than the first."
O'Dell: "Though Eva still having somewhat the better of it. Ten seconds to go in the second stanza. SHARP exchange right there and both fighters landed good punches and there's ANOTHER flurry that sees both blonde and brunette score. Bell! Another action-packed round to Green, though it's a lot closer this time."
McCarthy: "No matter how close, it still puts Eva up 20-18."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Third begins with Eva still aggressive and Lili firing right back now and HERE WE GO! Ladies letting the hands go in the middle of the ring. Reinhart's had enough of playing defense and she's letting Green HAVE it. Eva, meanwhile, not taking a backward step..."
Cassie: "Some bombs being thrown, Jenny!"
O'Dell: "AND THAT ONE LANDS! Reinhart ROCKS Green! Eva stumblign and nearly going down! And now Lili letting the hands go, backing the brunette into the ropes and giving it to her with both hands. Green tying up. Reinhart shoving her off, going right back to work..."
McCarthy: "WATCH THOSE LOW BLOWS!"
O'Dell: "None of that is LOW, but there's plenty of body work going on right now. Again, Eva ties up. Again, Lili shoves off and goes right back to tenderizing tummy. Eva tying up around the head now. Referee going to step in and break them and there's the bell. Lili. Wide."
Tess: "Green's lead cut in half. 29-28."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Reinhart going right back to work as we start the fourth. She's walking Eva down behind the left jab. Green still a little wobbly. Not really trying to hold canvas. Instead, she's willing to back and cover while she waits for the legs to come back, looking to manage right now..."
Tess: "While Lili is looking to FINISH..."
O'Dell: "Definitely is. She's sitting down on punches now, looking to find the 'off' switch. Eva keeping it pretty well hidden at the moment though, showing some good defensive skills and doing some damage in the counter and DOWN GOES GREEN! Oh, what a right hand!"
Cassie: "Might be too early for me to sing. But. I COULD..."
McCarthy: "Do the world a favor..."
O'Dell: "Eva flat on her back. Lili to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. No movement at ALL from Green. She REALLY got clocked with that one. Six. Seven. Eight. It's academic at this point. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO 4 is 'Diamond' Lili Reinhart!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Lili Reinhart, and, Lili, slow start..."
Lili (nodding): "She was in there loaded for bear. No point in engaging in that. So, just be patient. Your time will come. And, it did."
Tess: "This is the kind of performance that has to help in securing a roster spot..."
Lili (smiling): "Yeah, you'd think so. Here or somewhere else. I've got the goods and anybody who knows anything about boxing knows it." |
