Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
Lauren Mayberry entering the press hall first, waving excitedly to the assembled crowds. Taking her seat at the table, she looks like a mix of uncertainty and anticipation as she makes her opening remarks.

“Honestly, I’m not sure what to expect from my opponent tonight. I’ve been hearing a lot about Brec being a rising star with big potential. She’s currently 2-0 and I’ve watched both her fights - she’s pretty damn impressive and I’m sure Victoria Justice can tell us all about it. She’s also bigger than me, so that’s a problem. But I’m used to that… I just hope Brec isn’t as good as Moner," Lauren chuckles with some self-deprecating humour. "I’m feeling really good after my last win, so hopefully I can keep this fight going and kick some ass tonight. Good luck to Brec - I’ll make sure she needs it!”

Brec Bassinger coming in after back-to-back wins over Janel Parrish and Victoria Justice, clearly smiling from the other end of the press table.

"However this fight goes, I appreciate Mayberry's spirit. There are plenty of girls who are bigger and stronger in this division. And yet she keeps on fighting. I’m pretty new to this boxing thing but I want to keep raising the bar, and so all I can say is thank you for giving me a shot! May the best woman win!"

Later on in the arena, Bassinger is first down the ramp, dressed in a dark blue sports bra and long black tights outfit, showing off her toned physique as she smiles wide. Lauren out next in her regular bra and tights of old pink and black, waving both hands at the fans, looking to be in high spirits as she hops into the ring with a smile and takes to her corner. Few short minutes later and the girls are done stretching with the Ref going over some final details before calling for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Mayberry sure picked a tough opponent to stake another win on, with Bassinger clearly bigger and stronger than her leaner, smaller self. Fight starts off as expected, with Lauren using her agility to try and dictate terms early, but that all turns to sh*t when Bassinger catches her with an early right hook to the arms, rattling the smaller girl bad. Lauren more shocked than hurt, has trouble avoiding more of those repeated, big lunges aimed at her head, perhaps spooked by the possibility of one actually landing. Lauren's strategy to hang back, part fear of getting hit, part using her long jabs to score from afar. But Bassinger still fresh and energetic, keeps on coming at her hard and fast, smacks another hook into Mayberry’s arms that sends her flying into the ropes. Thankfully the bell saves her from complete annihilation in the very first round!

ROUND 2:
Lots of ground Mayberry needs to cover if she’s hoping to be a contender this fight. Brec trying to rush at her again, taking swings at her head and body in short but snappy action. But Lauren knows what to expect this time, a little more easily swerving backwards to avoid, then tagging the blonde on the face with rapid jabs. Things begin to look up for the Doll, who spends most of her time on the periphery and only rushes in to attack when Bassinger is most vulnerable. Brec grunting as her face gets stung over and over, forced to cover up by the last minute as another flurry slaps into her nostrils. She wisely covers up and stops her blind attack forward - this way Lauren can't score so easily either as the round rounds down in the last few seconds.

ROUND 3:
Lauren evening out the score, now turning the tide in her favour as she preys on a weakened, slower Brec. Brec still taking the odd swing at Mayberry’s head, but a combination of tiredness and Mayberry's agility makes it difficult for her to land a clean shot. Lauren exploiting this, shoots in a left hand into the guard and then another quick hook that cuffs her on the ear, sending Brec reeling to the side in shock. Bassinger remains behind her closed guard for the remainder of the round, taking more jabs on her arms and generally staying focused on her defence. Lauren with another wide round for herself as a result.

ROUND 4:
Mayberry starting to push her advantage, still firing left right left combos forward as she advances on the blonde. Bassinger grunting as her body targeted, arms locked over the face and moving backwards as though wounded. Here comes Mayberry, firing another one-two to the tummy before unleashing a big right hook as it rattles off the bigger girl's arms. But Bassinger somehow unfazed by the attack's lack of power, immediately COMES back with a hook of her own! WHAAM!! Catches Mayberry right on the kisser!! Ughh!! Lauren goes flying right, crashing into the ropes and hanging onto the top for dear life! Good lord! That came outta nowhere! Bec back on her foe, wasting little time in smacking the poor Scottish singer about in close quarters! Lauren groaning, eyes flashing with fear as she covers up best she can, gets turned about on the ropes multiple times with a succession of hooks. But just as Basisnger's about to land the killing blow, the bell rings to save the Doll once more!

ROUND 5:
Oh no - Lauren in trouble as she starts the round still a little woozy. Those repeated battering rams landing on her head surely must have done a number on her psyche. Bec marching straight forward, resuming the action with a straight hand to the middle of the arms, pushing Lauren further backwards. Mayberry trying to get away, re establish that long jab of gets, but gets those flimsy arms batted out of the way by Bec's hard swings. Bassinger manages to close distance and ROCKS Mayberry with another right hand!! Lauren as good as trapped on the ropes, taking a bad shelling as her torso's thrown about left and right! Can she survive another two minutes of this abuse?? HELL NO! Brec going all out, bashes her with a right hook to the face, and DOWN LAUREN GOES!!

KNOCKDOWN for Brec Bassinger, showing off that physique as she stands proud over Mayberry's floored form! Mayberry out cold, lying in a heap on her side, eyelids fluttering in the wind! Referee takes a quick look at the sleeping beauty and doesn’t even bother with the count, waves this fight OFF!

Official Decision: Brec Bassinger defeats Lauren Mayberry via KO5!

AFTER:
A big win for Brec, who gets away with another win despite every effort by Mayberry to stop her ascent to the top. She's certainly looking pumped about it, immediately leaping off the ground and throwing her hands into the air, before running to her corner and high-fiving her colleagues.

Some of us in the audience definitely impressed, applauding her strategy of playing to her strengths and dominating Lauren early without letting up. Speaking of whom, Mayberry looking distraught by the ropes after being revived by Dollhouse medical staff, but her sweaty bruise covered face shows the Scot is still in pain. Brec has the decency of moving towards her to check on her, but the flurry of activity means she doesn't get in close enough to offer her sympathies anyways.

Later, Bassinger speaking to reporters inside the ring as Lauren is being escorted out. “I hope she’s ok…Lauren was a good test for me and I’m pretty stoked I was able to win again tonight. That’s 3-0 baby! I know a lot of people are talking about me, and that puts some pressure on me, but I can handle it. I’m looking forward to proving myself against the top of this division, and I’m not planning on disappointing all my new fans! I can’t wait!”
Some ambitious words from this up and coming young blonde as she continues her rise through the ranks in the flyweight division. Can Brec really make it all the way to the top or is she going to show some cracks when she faces stronger competition? We’re definitely rooting for her and can’t wait to find out in 2020!
