Amber Heard vs. Laura Pausini(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout)

Beautiful blonde Texan has been going through a rough patch and needs to get things back on track. And, there's no question she plans to do exactly that against the physical Italian. "She can hit and she can take a hit," says Amber with a nod. "But, she's not in my class, as I'll demonstrate."

"This girl is a disappointment to some," says Laura with a smile. "She shouldn't be. It's not that she's not reaching her potential. It's just that she's not very good!"

ROUND ONE:
Some feeling out early, as the taller blonde wants to box and, as usual, the Italian wants to close and get physical. Laura not pushing the issue early, however. She's angling, probing, looking for weaknesses in Amber's defenses. For Heard's part, she's mostly working the jab, enforcing distance, trying to get the older woman's timing down. There are some lulls, but, mostly there's plenty of action despite both fighters spending much of the round information gathering. Neither gets a lot going offensively. Punches are thrown, but most are slipped or blocked, and, as a result, nobody's creating any distance on the cards. Final 30 seconds sees Heard getting things going a little, putting punches together and keeping Pausini at bay, and that turns out to be enough to give the blonde the round close, putting her up 10-9.

ROUND TWO:
Same again, but with more feeling. Amber boxing on the outside, Laura working in, getting physical, banging body with gusto now. Heard tying up in there to slow down the Italian, force some breaks, but Pausini determined to continue bringing the punishment to the blonde. She's taking some solid shots of her own on the way in, but she's more than willing to do that if it means she can bring her power to bear on the Texan. Amber starting to be made uncomfortable by the Italian's attacks. She's giving ground, holding on, doing whatever she can to slow this down, but, by the latter stages of the round, Laura's getting what she wants and taking advantage of it. When the bell rings, it's still somewhat close, but there's no doubt the brunette has grabbed the points and evened the fight at 19.

ROUND THREE:
Pausini really getting it going now. She's working through the blonde's defenses and thumping her when she gets inside. Heard trying to get the distance she wants, but can't do it. Instead, the brunette is ALL up in her grill, banging away to both head and body, forcing the blonde to back and cover. Heard's not hurt, but she's thrown completely to defensive as the Italian takes control of the fight. Brunette investing in blonde body, banging ribs and midsection, then working upstairs with hard right hands to the head. Heard firing back as best she can, but these aren't the terms she wants, and she's coming out second best in a big way when fighting on them. Final seconds see Pausini land a pair of big right hands, and, when the bell rings, the Italian's got to be feeling pretty good about how things are going. She's taken it wide to lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:
Pausini pressuring, forcing Heard backward. Amber trying to get space, but can't do it. Italian working past her glove, walking through her punches, controlling things with her physicality. BOOM! Right hand, AMBER! Heard catches Laura almost clean coming in and Pausini is HURT! Laura wobbles, nearly goes down, and now Heard is ALL IN. Blonde tossing everything but the kitchen sink at the stricken brunette, looking to get her out of her. Pausini forced back, back, back, eventually pinned against the ropes where Amber makes with the punishment to both head and body. Heard determined to finish this thing, while Laura's hanging on desperately, waiting for the bell. Ref watching closely, but the Italian does enough to keep him at bay to the bell. When it rings, Amber's won the round wide and we're even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:
Amber determined to finish. She's stepping to, backing up the Italian, letting her have it with both hands. Laura keeping the gloves high, firing back on occasion, but, mostly staying on defense, trying to ride out the storm. But. It's Texas sized. Heard tossing everything in the arsenal at her rival, and Laura's beginning to list from the accumulation of fire. Two minutes in, DOWN GOES PAUSINI! Again, it's no one punch, but the combination of tons of heavy leather that sends the brunette puddling at the blonde's feet. Amber raises her arms in victory, then makes her way to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Pausini manages to get to hands and knees at six, but can't do any more before the count passes her by. It's OVER. And your winner by KO5 is Amber Heard!

AFTER:
Amber clearly both pleased and relieved. She knows she needed this one, and is clearly happy to have gotten the job done. "This is what I can do," the blonde beauty says, "When I go out there and fire on all cylinders. When I do that, there's no one in this division I can't beat. No one."
