(Words: Fates / Results: Lookout!)

Missy Peregrym: 37 years old, 5’ 7 1/2”, 56-31-2 since 2006, Lookout! Boxing

Taylor Swift: 29 years old, 5’11”, 37-16 since 2009, Fates Boxing

Before:

“Nothing lasts forever,” Missy opens the press conference, “And Taylor is going to find out that her title reign is no different. When I raise the title for my third reign as lightweight champ, I am going to lay all the hype about Swift to rest. She may have had a good run with Fates so far, but I think it’s about time that someone takes her back to reality.” Peregrym stares the blonde champ down, and Taylor takes her time before responding.

“Missy, I’m going to keep this short. I’ve worked incredibly hard to earn this title and hold it. And I intend to hold on to it for as long as I can. Now, you will try to beat me like everyone else, but you won’t succeed. That’s that.” Taylor hits the table and leaves the press conference, leaving Missy smirking.

The crowd is roaring as the lightweight title match is announced. Missy Peregrym walks to the ring and takes off her robe to reveal a green sports bra and matching gloves with yellow trunks. Taylor Swift then emerges from the back with the lightweight title around her waist. The blonde singer is wearing a white sports bra with matching gloves and black trunks. Taylor lifts the belt up high and stares down Missy, who coolly returns the champ’s stare, before handing off the title to the official. The two women receive final instructions and after hesitating, they touch gloves and the bell rings.

Round 1:

Taylor Swift struts out of her corner with a smug grin on her face while Missy Peregrym comes out with a fire in her eyes and feints with a left and smacks Swift with a right and Taylor is shaken up! If anyone thought that Swift would pushover the shorter Peregrym, they would be sorely mistaken as Taylor has a surprised expression plastered over her face as she covers up and Missy goes straight to the tall blonde’s body, working her ribs. Taylor starts punching out but she’s not able to make solid contact as Peregrym knocks Swift into the ropes AND SPLITS THE BLONDE’S GUARD WITH A RIGHT! Taylor swoons and is in the ropes as she swings wildly out with a right that catches Missy and allows the singer to get out of the ropes. Swift stays away from Peregrym and uses her jab to maintain that distance, making contact but never as hard as she wants and the bell rings, ending the first round. While Swift may have worn a smug grin to start the round, now it’s Peregrym who’s wearing it as the brunette takes the opening round on points, wide.

Round 2:

Peregrym confidently out of her corner and Swift comes out of hers without the grin she started the first round with. Missy looking to get in close to Taylor and rob the blonde of her reach advantage, and she closes the distance with Swift and goes to the blonde’s body, driving short, quick punches into Swift’s ribs. Taylor squirms and plugs leather into Missy’s midriff in response and drives Missy back. The Canadian actress drops back and forces the American singer to chase her, only to stick the chasing blonde with two quick rights and now Taylor is the one who is on the defensive. Peregrym not chasing Swift, knowing that the blonde has a longer reach. Missy instead looks to use her speed advantage and position herself such that Taylor can’t respond and pops the blonde’s chest with a left, but Taylor catches Missy with a right to the ribs in response and Swift follows up with a right to Missy’s nose, knocking her backwards. Swift works her jab to pick at Peregrym’s head and chest until the bell, and the two women head back to their corners. Swift picks up the round on points, close.

Round 3:

Peregrym like a shot out of a cannon as she exits her corner and immediately slips by a Swift right and goes right to the blonde’s body. Peregrym loudly pounding Swift’s ribs and Taylor absolutely whiffs on a left cross. Missy steps in and clocks Taylor with a right when the blonde’s guard is down and Taylor quickly gets her guard back up, though she leaves her body open and Peregrym pounds Swift’s body into the ropes. Missy may be one of the oldest active lightweights, but she is showing that she still has plenty of fight and strength left in her and she is showing it tonight, pounding Swift from close range and leaving the blonde champion with no choice but to clinch. The referee separates the two women and Taylor stays away from Missy for the rest of the round, using her jab to keep the brunette challenger away. The bell rings and the two women go to their respective corners, Swift with an exasperated look on her face as Peregrym is coming on strong by taking the round on points, wide, as she looks for another title reign.

Round 4:

Missy has a fierce look in her eyes as she starts the fourth round and she is laser focused on Taylor. The champ stands her ground and launches a quick right at the challenger’s face, but Peregrym dodges the blow and absolutely nails Swift’s chin with a right in response. Taylor comes back with a left that clips Missy’s ear, but it doesn’t do anything to her opponent and Peregrym hits Swift in the cheek with a powerful left and then goes right to the blonde champ’s body as Swift gets her guard up. Taylor’s giving up her body wholesale as Missy buries leather into the champ’s body and drives her into the ropes where she hammers away at the blonde. Swift desperately trying to clinch as she just can’t escape the ropes and she eventually does successfully clinch, forcing the referee to separate the two women. Peregrym wastes no time going back after Swift though and it’s all Taylor can do to not take repeated hooks as the champ is struggling as the bell saves the champion from getting pounded into the ropes again. Swift with a distant look on her face as Peregrym’s eyes are bright, sensing that her third title reign is nigh.

Round 5:

Swift gets a talking to between the rounds. Nobody can hear what Fates is saying, but the general gist is clear: clean it up or you’ll lose the title because Peregrym came to play. In the opposite corner, Lookout’s instructions are clear: take it to the champ. Missy with all the momentum as the two women start the fifth and she immediately goes right after Taylor. The challenger gets some solid licks in before sending a big right hook – that Taylor ducks. Swift quickly comes back with a right straight that takes advantage of Peregrym’s exposed head and knocks the brunette backwards. The champ lines up a follow-up left and now Swift flips a switch and the champ is in her element. Taylor perfectly measures her distance to Missy and lets loose with her jabs and Peregrym just doesn’t have the range to fight back! Swift is laying a beating down on Missy and this time the bell mercifully comes and saves Peregrym. The champion in Taylor Swift strings together a good series to end the round and takes it on points, wide.

Round 6:

Swift now has a full head of steam coming into the round and she starts stringing her punches together, even though a healthy amount of them are bouncing off of Peregrym’s guard. The actress keeps her guard strong and limits the punishment the singer can dish out. Taylor changes tactics and looks to outmaneuver Missy, sliding quickly to her right and firing off a fast right that connects followed by a left that totally whiffs! Peregrym somehow manages to get out of the way of Swift’s left and clobbers Taylor’s jaw with an absolute haymaker of a right. Swift is stunned and on comes Peregrym, swinging away and connecting with two huge rights THAT DROP THE CHAMP! Peregrym trots to the corner as the referee begins to count over a dazed Swift. One. Two. Taylor tries and fails to roll herself over. Three. Four. Five. Swift gets onto her belly. Six. Seven. Taylor on all fours. Eight. The champ forces herself up just before the count of nine. Peregrym waits for the ref’s O.K. before going back after the champ, who is doing all she can to ward off the challenger. Peregrym back in the driver seat as the round ends, punishing Swift’s body, and unsurprisingly takes the round on points, wide.

Round 7:

Peregrym struts out of her corner like she knows she’s going to dethrone Swift and become the new champ. Missy jumps out after Taylor with a huge right that barely grazes the singer’s ear and Peregrym is exposed and Swift drives a left across Missy’s chin that swivels her head. Peregrym squares back up only to take a powerful one-two combo and Peregrym stumbles backwards as Swift lines up a shot that drops the challenger early! Now it’s Taylor’s turn to get to the corner as the referee begins the count over her opponent. Peregrym picks her head off of the ground and stares up at Swift before she grimaces and picks herself off the ground. Missy is able to get up at eight and tells the referee she’s fine, and on comes Taylor. Swift is getting some good licks in, but the veteran Peregrym holds her ground and sticks Swift back, preventing the champ from capitalizing on the knockdown. Still, Taylor takes the round on points.

Round 8:

Despite being knocked down in the previous round, Missy Peregrym immediately goes after Taylor Swift and slips past the blonde’s jab and pops Taylor in the mouth. A trickle of blood drips down Taylor’s chin and Swift shifts to her left to line up a right jab only for Peregrym to hammer the champ with two punches and DOWN GOES TAYLOR! Missy is anything but a pushover in the fight and she retreats to a neutral corner for the second time this match as Taylor lays on her back, moving her arms around as the ref counts. Swift winces as she rolls herself over, shaking her head as she picks herself off the ground to beat the count. Peregrym with a smug look on her face as she goes right after the singer. Left hook, right hook, left hook, right hook. Taylor blocking the blows towards her head, but Missy shifts her focus to Swift’s ribs – but Swift takes the blows and uncorks a massive right that wobbles Peregrym. The brunette girl seems to stabilize herself as on comes the blonde, but Taylor starts to pound the challenger, plunging leather into Peregrym’s face. Missy covers up, giving up her body wholesale and Taylor slams a right into Peregrym’s solar plexus that drives the air out of her lungs and doubles her over, Peregrym’s guard splitting apart. Swift with all of the time in the world to connect with a left that connects right to Peregrym’s jaw and down goes Peregrym! Missy is moaning on the ground, moving her arms underneath her, but just not able to do enough to beat the ten count and it’s over. Your winner by KO8 and still lightweight champion, Taylor Swift!

After:

An exasperated smile creeps across Taylor’s face as she raises the title, but did Peregrym give her more trouble than she probably bargained for. Swift keeps her celebration brief before she heads out to talk to the press.

“Missy is a tough fighter, but when you go up against me, being tough isn’t good enough,” Taylor tells the press. “I’ve broken every singing record there is to break, I’m the artist of the decade, and I’m bringing it inside the ring. So Kendall, when we meet again, just know that this time will be different.” Swift defiantly gets up and leaves, ignoring all of the questions about her struggling to dispatch her opponent tonight and being on the back foot for most of the fight.

Peregrym doesn’t speak to the press after her loss, which may very well be her last chance for another title run.

The question everyone is pondering is whether or not Taylor Swift be defending her title against Kendall Jenner in the last lightweight title fight of the 2010s, and if so, will she be able to beat the woman who has beaten her thrice so far? And if Swift doesn’t fight Jenner, then who will get the last title shot of the decade?
