Brunette Ambition At The Asylum II: Electric Boogaloo

BEFORE:

"Well, I've fought Front Street before," says Joanne with a smile, "But, I've never been to Asylum before! Glad that changes tonight!"

"She's very dangerous, obviously," says Taylor. "She's caused trouble for this stable in the past. But. Not tonight."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Shut Up and Dance' by Walk The Moon, and here comes the lovely Canadian Joanne Kelly!"

Tess: "Kelly talked about fighting against Front Street girls before, and she parlayed a big win over Daniela Ruah, a decision loss to Anna Torv, and then a win over Missy Peregrym of Lookout! into a title shot several years back. Has only fought four times since her management collapsed back in 2016, however."

O'Dell: "Joanne into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a black number and a toned body that proves she's been working VERY hard for this one..."

McCarthy: "And, before anyone points out that she doesn't look 40...nothin' but a number!"

O'Dell: "And, that's 'Natural' by Imagine Dragons you hear behind us, and here comes 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"

Cassie: "Hill still on the bubble as far as her position on Front Street's Tenth Anniversary Roster, so, the pressure's on for her tonight."

O'Dell: "Taylor into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that azure number we've seen before. And, the ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Taylor. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Kelly's a good fighter. Good fighters BEAT Dancing Hookers! Joanne!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Ladies setting up at gunnery range, which is no surprise, as both are rangy and can box. Kelly using the feet to offset the slight reach advantage Hill has, and we're seeing some nice boxing from both brunettes here in the opening stanza..."

McCarthy: "If Hill tries to box with Kelly, she'll get destroyed. There's a REASON I got rid of her!"

O'Dell: "At the moment, Taylor holding her own, as the ladies are both getting into a nice rhythm, landing punches in combination. Some solid rights making contact, despite some good defense being played by both brunettes. Punches being slipped and blocked, but others getting through..."

Tess: "Kelly giving up a lot of years, but still seems quick enough to box with the much-younger fighter..."

O'Dell: "Definitely does. Twenty seconds to go in the opening round. SHARP exchange there and Kelly forces Hill to cover up after a NICE right hand! Joanne following on with another nice flurry and there's the bell. Close, but Kelly's late efforts earn her the points."

Cassie: "And the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins at range again, but Hill beginning to preempt Joanne. She's upping her work rate and using that reach advantage to keep Joanne out of range. This is nice stuff from the supermodel, as she's getting off in combination and tossing Joanne onto the defensive..."

Cassie: "But, Mac fired her..."

McCarthy: "She's overrated and a tooth pick and SHUT UP, SCABBO!"

O'Dell: "Kelly being backed up now, as the younger brunette's getting it going. She's got the older woman on the back foot and she's keeping her there with hard, accurate shot. Joanne giving ground as Taylor steps in and makes with some heavy leather that's getting the Canadian's attention..."

Tess: "Kelly's got to get this geometry right, because she's taking a beating."

O'Dell: "Is, indeed. We're coming down the stretch and it's been Hill in command from the opening seconds. GOOD combination by Taylor. Joanne covers up again. Ten seconds to go. Hill a HARD right hand, and that snapped back Joanne's head at the bell. No doubt in the second. Hill. Wide. And we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Hill getting back to work, but Kelly angling forward a bit now, getting to middle distances and getting off in combination. Nice adjustment by the Canadian, who's no longer going to try to fight at range where Taylor has the advantage. Instead, Joanne getting to spots where SHE can get off..."

McCarthy: "This is why I got rid of Hill! Kelly's a REAL fighter. She can make adjustments on the fly!"

O'Dell: "Taylor firing back, and we're getting some good exchanges, but Joanne definitely getting the better of things. SHARP right and that backed up the supermodel, and now Kelly coming forward, banging away at the younger woman, getting very physical in there..."

Cassie: "No question Joanne has power. And, we're seeing it now."

O'Dell: "Definitely are. Final fifteen seconds of what's been a very good round for the older brunette, and Joanne finishing strong. Putting Taylor firmly on the defensive as she bangs away to both head and body. There's the bell and it ends what can only be described as an excellent round for Kelly."

Tess: "And, Joanne's back in the lead 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Kelly continuing with the aggression. She's stepping to, getting physical, bringing her power to bear. Hill backing, covering, not holding canvas at the moment. Instead, the Canadian slowly grabbing territory as she bangs away with hard, accurate shot."

McCarthy: "And, the toothpick has no answers. None."

O'Dell: "Kelly getting into a pretty good rhythm here. Hill mostly working in counter, remaining on the defensive while the Canadian fights lead. We've seen this kind of thing before for Kelly and it earned her a title shot and DOWN SHE GOES! Oh, what a right hand by Taylor Hill!"

Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiigggghhhhhttttsssss. The party's ohhhhhverrrrrrr..."

O'Dell: "Joanne down on her back in the middle of the ring. Taylor to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. No movement at all from the Canadian who REALLY got caught by a girl with welter power. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! And your winner by KO4 is 'The Face', Taylor Hill!"

Tess: "Nothing lucky about THAT punch."

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Taylor Hill, and, Taylor, she got very aggressive with you in those last couple of rounds..."

Taylor: "Sure did. And she can hit. No doubt about that. But. You aren't going to keep stepping to me and get away with it. I'm going to GET you. And, when I do. Well. You saw."

Tess (smiling): "So, was that enough to clinch a roster spot?"

Taylor (shrugging): "I guess we'll see."
