TESS VALMORE

The September PPV is in the books and I believe that it was the biggest card in history with 47 bouts not including retro fights. I might mention that my record in this PPV was 24-13 or 65% correct. That is 12 points below my career average. I think that is a good thing for the FCBA, as the Association is becoming more competitive.

All the titles were up for grabs with only one changing. Kristen Stewart lost the flyweight title to Emma Watson ending a six month reign with four defenses. Taylor Swift continues to surprise me with a win over Sagra. That was her fourth defense, which is three more than I expected. In the bantams, Bella Thorne retained her title by beating Kosarin. Finally Righetti retained her title be beating Mandy Moore. When a fighter with a losing record gets a title shot you know competition is wearing thin. Of top ten welters, Righetti has beaten eight. This is really getting boring. I know the problem in the welters. What I don’t know is the solution.

In the Lightweights, DiDonato’s win should boost her chances of a title fight. Unfortunately, she is wasting time fighting at JMD, where three of her last five have been. Rohrbach win over Refaeli should give her a boost. The same could be said for Peregrym’s win over Palicki. Ren had a huge win over Jenner that effectively put an end to an immediate title fight for Jenner. Ren won’t get shot since she just lost a title bout. Courtney Tailor is a remote choice as is Peregrym.

In one of the big fights of the night Scodelario beat Lilly to take the lead in the series 2-1. I have been pounding the table for a LIlly title fight, but this loss which was her second in a row, probably put an end to that. Lovato served notice that she is looking for a title fight, but she won’t get it since she just lost the title. Minka Kelly shouldn’t be overlooked as she took a win over Dushku. She said she wants in the Hall Of Fame. She has a good chance since she needs 22 more fights and needs to win only nine. The problem is she will soon be forty. The clock is ticking. While not involved in this PPV, Bennet and Dennings are lurking and shouldn’t be over looked.  Jenny Mac served notice she is back. That should send terror through the ranks of the bantams (sarcasm)?

The flyweights look to be competitive at this time. Stewart’s loss open a title shot for Lavigne, who took care of Mendes. Hudgens remains a top choice with her win over Kruek. That loss cost Kruek her job with the Consortium.  Dobrev had a big win, but isn’t likely to get the title bout since she lost the title to Lovato in April.  Same for Lovato who beat Larson, but just lost the title. Emma Roberts remains a choice with her win over Kunis.

Finally, the cougars seem to be gearing up as there was three cougar bouts headlined by Theron and Carey. This could be an interesting division where old scores are settled or new rivalries created.
