(Foxfire Boxing vs Girls Friday)
Intro: A rematch here now between Sarah Carter and Elizabeth Henstridge, both women hoping to enter 2020 with a win after a barren period for them.
Sarah is 39 years old; she stands 5'4 ½, her record is 64 wins, 41 coming by way of knockout, 39 defeats with 5 draws, she is a former three time FCBA flyweight champion, also a member of the Tractorpull Hall of Fame.
Elizabeth is 32 years old; she stands 5'4, holding a record of 25 wins, all coming by knockout, with 15 defeats.
They fought back in April of last year, Sarah came out on top with a seventh round knockout of Elizabeth, of course Elizabeth will be hoping to get a win back here tonight by fixing the mistakes she made in the first fight.
In the build up to the fight; Sarah was interviewed in her stables gym by the FCBA networks Lucy Liu, both smiling as they chat about life before getting down to business.
"It's funny sitting here with you Lucy, I have been thinking of my past fights here in the FCBA, when I went into the gym on Monday and looked in the mirror at my body, I know I can win a title still if I put my full focus on it" says Sarah as she flexes her right arm.
The subject turns to Elizabeth, Sarah tells Lucy "Liz is a good fighter but she doesn't have that killer instinct it takes to be an elite fighter, which is why I am not worried about her"
Lucy asks if Sarah might be coming in a little over confident, Carter shakes her head and replies "look you know me, I will give Elizabeth respect in the ring but the facts are she has been overtaken by her own stablemate Maisie (Williams) so what's to worry about?"
Elizabeth meanwhile is not giving any interviews, instead the assistant manager of the Girls Friday stable has Lucy in her office as Elizabeth trains on the floor below.
When asked how Elizabeth is doing, Melanie replies "she is doing great, we just felt it was best to keep her focused on the fight and not everything else around her"
Lucy grins as she then asks about the future of Elizabeth, something Melanie is quick to stop, saying "look don't buy into that crap, Elizabeth has done great for us and is a good person to have in the gym"
Standing out of her seat; Melanie leads Lucy over to the banister so Lucy can see Elizabeth training, Elizabeth is laughing as she workouts alongside Maisie and Ivana Baquero.
"See with your own eyes what she brings to the stable, I believe in her and she'll show Sarah and the rest of the FCBA what Elizabeth is going to do in the next decade" Melanie says as Lucy nods.
Fight night; Sarah heads out the curtain first with her coach Virginia Madsen beside her, Sarah looks confident as she high fives several members of the crowd.
The Canadian is wearing a white sports bra with a red maple leaf on her right cup, red trunks with white stripes up the sides, red shoes, white gloves and her blonde hair is up in a ponytail.
Stepping inside the ring with a big grin, Sarah is bouncing on her toes as she begins to warm up in her corner, Virginia telling her to make sure Elizabeth knows her place in the pecking order of the FCBA.
With Elizabeth now heading out flanked by her coach Taryn Terrell and cut women Eva Carneiro, she looks her usual bubbly self as she jogs down the aisle.
The English fighter is wearing a black sports bra with a white "Agents of Shield" badge on her left cup, black trunks, shoes and gloves, her brunette hair is tied into a ponytail too.
Climbing through the ropes; Elizabeth bows to each side of the ring, then heads to her corner to go through her own warm up routine.
The referee brings the fighters together at the center of the ring, they look each other up and down with neither looking worried by the other.
They touch their gloves up with a quick bump, more focused on getting back to their corners, when they are ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1: They both come out up on their toes, while they know each other neither wants to make a mistake it seems as they trade single punches to start off.
Sarah tries to push the tempo up a gear by stepping forwards with a left cross, it misses though as Liz steps back and counters with a straight into the face of Carter.
It looks like the plan for Elizabeth is to counter punch, baiting Sarah with her jab, then stepping back when the hall of famer takes a swing with a hook or cross at her, countering with clean punches to the face of the Canadian.
As the round enters it's conclusion, Sarah shows off her boxing IQ, throwing a feint left before coming inside with an uppercut after ducking the counter straight.
Sarah finishes strong as she forces Liz into a tight fiery exchange, at the bell they exchange a fist bump before heading back to their corner.
Round 2: Liz is trying to be very methodical it seems, not throwing any real power punches so far, focusing on her movement and counter punching.
Making Sarah look annoyed as her lips keep getting hit clean, she feints more to make her opponent react so she can find gaps to strike into.
With Sarah dipping down to get in close to Elizabeth, throwing uppercuts as she tries to take the head off the Brit, who leans out the way of them but ends up getting pushed back to the outside of the ring.
Elizabeth doesn't have the room to do what she wants, forcing her to stand and trade with Sarah, who is controlling the pace, smacking Liz across the cheeks with nice looking hooks.
In the final seconds of the round Henstridge nudges back Sarah with her left, a right strikes Carter across her jaw, a follow up jab smacks her into her nose as Liz starts to get her rhythm back.
The bell rings with another fist bump between them, Taryn telling Elizabeth to adapt to what she is seeing, not to be stuck doing one thing and getting caught out.
Round 3: Back out they come trading stiff jabs, Liz keeping on the outside of Sarah's reach, forcing the veteran to come at her still, with Sarah more then happy to do so.
Leading to a few heated exchanges between them, Liz showing some steel to go toe to toe with Sarah, before stepping back to fire in a double jab to the nose of Sarah.
Thudding her gloves together as she stalks Henstridge down, Sarah is trying to remain patience as she hunts down the brunette, her eyes full of fire.
But it is Elizabeth controlling the action with her footwork and rangy punches, stopping Sarah from being able to unleash her power punches.
In the final thirty seconds of the round, Sarah leans out the way of a left cross, then lands a right to the body, followed by an overhand left to knock back Liz.
The round comes to a close with Sarah turning back to her corner mouthing "f***" as Liz is nodding as she gets a thumbs up by Taryn over a good round.
Round 4: Back out the fighters come behind their jabs to start, but Sarah is quick to come at her opponent, feinting with a left before stepping around a straight, then landing a left hook to the cheek of Liz.
Getting her head down Sarah is working the body of Liz, bodying up to her as they trade hard shots in tight, Liz not looking as comfortable in these exchanges.
Nudging back Sarah with her left, Liz is able to land a double jab/straight into the face of the Canadian to knock her back a step, maybe looking to push onwards with her power shots.
But Sarah slips a straight shot to come in with a right under the ribs of the Brit, followed by a left hook on the jaw of Henstridge, who looks rattled by the punch.
The guard of Elizabeth is starting to look open now, Sarah rifling punches into the face of Liz, backing her up around the outside of the ring, sweat flying off her head.
At the bell the fighters turn back to their corners with serious looks etched on their faces, the Foxfire corner looking happier on what they feel is a better round for them, seeing a light coming through after tightly fought rounds up till now.
Round 5: As they come out their corners; Sarah is coming in more aggressively, slipping a straight to counter with an uppercut on the chin of Liz to knock her back onto her heels.
Liz is looking a little wide eyed as she throws in a defensive style jab, they are missing though as Sarah is stepping forwards slipping punches.
Coming in with a jab onto the nose of Elizabeth, WHO SHUTS HER EYES AND TAKES AN UPPERCUT ON HER CHIN TO SEND LIZ DOWN ONTO HER BACK, HER GUMSHIELD COMING OUT HER MOUTH!
"Yes!" Yells Sarah as she jogs to the neutral corner, 1...2...3... Liz groans as she holds her jaw with her eyes shut, 4...5...6.. Rolling to her side, Liz looks over to her corner with tears in her eyes, 7...8...9...10 that's all she wrote for this fight!
Winner Sarah Carter KO Round 5
After: A great knockout signs off the year for Sarah, she yells "woo!" As she smiles warmly over to her corner, pumping her right fist as she jogs back over to her corner to get a fist bump from Nia.
Elizabeth on the other hand needs help from Taryn to sit up, she looks down at the canvas with tears dripping, Eva kneels down to cuddle her as she tries to console her.
Even Sarah looks a little guilty as she looks at Liz, she tells Nia "damn I wish she was a bytch because it would be easier to knock her out and not feel anything" Nia remembering her it is just business.
Getting helped up to her feet, Elizabeth returns to her corner; where she thanks her crew for their support, apologizing for failing in this bout after all the hard work they have put in.
The fighters come to the center of the ring, with Sarah going over to Elizabeth to give her a hug, Elizabeth smiles as she says "it's all good, thank you for the fight" with Sarah nodding and smiling.
Sarah then gets her hand raised by the referee, Elizabeth applauds her to show her respect for Sarah, they nod to each other before Elizabeth steps out the ring.
Taryn and Eva putting an arm around the shoulders of Elizabeth, telling her to keep her chin up, though tonight she looked like she was afraid of the shadow of Sarah.
Who is in the ring posing on the ring apron with her arms flexed, smiling as Nia tells her "I hope those who think you are finished shut up, you are still an ass kicker babe" making Sarah laugh and wink at Liz.
Stepping off the apron; Sarah heads up the aisle with a big grin, she fist bumps some fans in the front row, still looking a real contender as she will be turning forty next year.
