(Empire Boxing vs Lookout! Boxing)
Intro: The opening contest tonight in Chicago's Sears Center sees Camila Cabello take on fellow youngster Madison Beer in a battle of prospects.
Camila is 22 years old; she stands 5'2, her record is 9 wins, all coming by way of knockout, with 9 defeats.
Madison is 20 years old; she stands 5'5, her record is 2 wins, both coming by way of knockout, with only 1 defeat.
When the fight was announced on this card, both were quick to get on their social media accounts to make their feelings known on it.
Camila posted "why have my stable put me in a match with a rip off of me? I mean I guess I have to knock her out and waste a night of my life to do so but maybe it will be worth it to shut up the idiots who compare us #screwripoffs"
While Madison fired back on her account "I asked my stable the same thing Camila, why should I waste my time fighting you when you have done nothing of note, like your singing your boxing career is simply average, I'll enjoy putting your lights out soon enough #raisinghell"
Fight night; Camila is out first alongside her coach Monica Bellucci, she is grinning as she jogs down the aisle towards the ring.
The Cuban fighter is wearing a red sports bra, red trunks with "Harmony" in gold letters on her waistband, red shoes with gold trim, gold gloves and her hair is tied into a ponytail.
Stepping through the ropes; Camila raises her fists above her head as she struts over to her corner, winking to her fans before she begins her warm up.
Madison comes out with her coach Nicole Kidman beside her, pounding her chest with her right fist before raising it to the crowd, no hint of fear in her eyes as she marches down the aisle.
The New Yorker is wearing a metallica blue sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, while her hair is tied back into a ponytail too.
Getting inside the ring to a loud roar from her supporters, Madison steps over to the middle of each side of the ring, posing with her hands on her hips and a big smile on her face, settling into her corner when she is done.
The referee waves the fighters to the center of the ring, eyes locked in an intense glare as they exchange mouthed insults, neither looking afraid of their opponent.
They swipe their gloves when told to touch them up, quickly jogging back to their corners with their fans up on their feet chanting their names, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1: They both start off quickly; stepping in close to let their hands go, Camila dips under a straight to fire in three body shots before she is nudged back.
The Lookout! Corner doesn't look happy with Madison at this early stage, she isn't boxing as they want her to, instead she is playing into her opponent's hands by swinging and missing.
Camila keeping herself compact as she sticks and moves, drilling in most of her punches to the abs of the taller woman, before she begins throwing overhand punches that make Madison move back out the way.
Finally late in the round Beer starts to land more jabs that gets her corner team nodding, it's only taken till the final minute of the round to do so, knocking back the head of an over keen Cabello.
With Camila just smirking as she waits for her chance to get at Madison, both landing stiff single punches as they circle at the center of the ring up till the bell rings.
Returning to her corner, Camila tells her corner "she shouldn't be in the ring with me" her corner team telling her to keep her focus or she'll show her up.
Round 2: Thudding her gloves together as she comes back out, Madison is looking to not make any mistakes like the opening round, boxing more behind her jab to set up her right hand as she looks a little more silky smooth in the ring.
With Cabello not having it as easy to get in close, the Cuban moves more side to side while moving her upper body, looking for better angles to strike from.
Madison though is doing a good job in the opening minute, it's only when she steps in with a left hook that she misses and eats a right under her left boob that makes her wince.
Instinctively Madison seems to lower her left fist, Camila smiling as she lands an overhand right flush on the jaw of Madison, WHO AS SHE IS UNBALANCED EATS A LEFT HOOK THAT SENDS HER TO HER BACKSIDE!
Shaking her booty at Madison to mock her, Camila struts off to the neutral corner with a big smile, 1...2...3...4.. Madison punches the canvas in anger at herself for getting caught out, 5...6...7... Pushing up to a knee and looking at the referee, 8... Camila not looking worried as she watches Madison get to her feet.
When they resume Camila dipping down so she can get inside, nearly headbutting her opponent as she drills the body of her fellow singer, nearly catching her with an uppercut as Madison nudges her back and gets her head out the way.
The round comes to a close with Camila pumping her right fist into the air, Madison cursing herself as Nicole tells her to keep her chin up and show Camila she is here to stay.
Round 3: As they start trading at midrange, Camila trying to get in close so she can work the abs of Madison, she is taking more punches down on top of her head when she gets in close.
Madison lands an uppercut to knock back Camila, first time really in the fight Madison has control of the ring, pushing back the smaller woman to the outside of the ring.
She steps back when Camila tries to dart inside, landing a straight or double jab to the top of the head of the Cuban's head to knock her back a step.
An annoyed look crosses Camilla's face, she is maybe realising she is going to need to step up a gear, which she does by feinting a jab, moving to the right before landing a right hook to the side of Beer's head.
The final minute of the round sees both land some crisp shots, Camila is getting in closer though with her upper body movement causing Madison to miss more often.
An overhand right landing flush on Madison's cheek just before the bell has Camila smiling again, though her corner don't look as impressed by her this round, something that makes her nod as she can't pretend it was perfect by any means.
Across the ring Madison is told to keep her focus, she is starting to do what they want to see, reminding her though that Camila isn't a punch bag that will stay static, she needs to time her punches better.
Round 4: The early action is tightly fought between them, Camila having some success getting inside to work, but each time she gets nudged back, she is met with stiff two or three punch combos into her stunning face.
Madison is getting her fans more into this by the success she is having, drilling Camila with a double jab/straight combo flush on her face to drive her back to the ropes, only Cabello's head and foot movement get her out of the way of a right hook with real power behind it.
As Beer looks to be getting comfortable beating back Camila, a missed right leaves her open to an overhand left to her cheek, a right smacks her across her face to send sweat flying.
Opening the doors for Camila to strike back at the half way mark, bashing back Madison onto the ropes, the New Yorker is trying to slug her way off the ropes but the compact build of Camila is giving her the seeming advantage in these exchanges.
Need to clinch up with Cabello, Beer looks to be cursing herself again as she needs the referee to break them up so she can get the space she wants to work in.
When they resume fighting though it is the Empire fighter pushing the action, the Latin spirit of Camila seems to be fuelling her right now as her head goes down and she is throwing hooks at the flanks of her rival.
Who covers up all the way till the bell rings, Camila returning to her corner to be met by a look of I told you so by her coaching team, she just scowls at Madison as her face is washed, a little puffiness on her cheeks now.
Round 5: Camila is continuing to be hard to hit as the round starts, drilling to the body of Madison as she dips down, then trying to land her overhand shots that just miss their target.
The Lookout! Fighter leans out the way of a left cross so she can counter with a straight that drills into the left eye of Cabello, stopping the Cuban in her tracks as a left hook then crashes into the side of her head.
The opening is there and Madison takes it as she bashes three punches straight into the face of her opponent, driving her back to the outside of the ring.
It's Camila now struggling to do more then land single punches out her guard, she is being outworked by Beer, with more punches being swung around her guard.
When Camila tries to go big with an uppercut, Madison steps back out of danger, landing a counter left hook into the ear of Cabello to knock her to the side a step.
The final moments of the round sees Camila being kept near the ropes, she is trying to fight her way off them but is being caught by the longer reach of Madison onto her face.
At the bell Camila looks like she wants to spit insults at Madison, instead she marches back to her corner as Madison smirks at her, Madison is looking comfortable for the first time in this fight.
Round 6: Circling to start the round, Camila is getting caught trying to come inside, looking more confident as she is throwing more combinations into the head of Camila.
Who manages to slip a straight to land a left to the jaw of Madison, forcing a fiery exchange as she works in the pocket, landing body shots to make Beer groan out.
Nudging back Camila with her left shoulder, Madison swings an uppercut that catches Camila flush on her chin, there's a clear wobble to the legs of the Cuban fighter.
Madison lands a left hook that sends her opponent back a step, WITH A RIGHT HOOK TO THE TEMPLE SENDING CAMILA CRUMBLING DOWN TO HER BACK!
The Lookout corner crew are all jumping up in the air looking excited by the knockdown, 1...2...3... Camila turning to her side as she blinks, 4...5...6.. Reaching for the ropes, 7...8.. She is too far away from them though, 9...10 Cabello is counted out!
Winner Madison Beer KO Round 6
After: A big win after a step up in competition for Madison, she jumps up and down yelling "I got you bytch!" To Camila, her corner team just laughing at her exuberance.
While Monica steps into the ring to check on Camila, helping her to her feet as they tell her "you need to keep your focus better, she isn't better then she is, you caused this defeat" blunt words but maybe the tough love Camila needs to improve.
The fighters exchange a glare across the ring at each other, neither exactly wanting to rush over to say good fight, instead maybe seeing someone they will have as a rival throughout their FCBA careers.
After they both are cleaned up and OK to do so, they head to the center of the ring, with Madison getting a cheer from her fans as her arm is raised by the referee.
Camila shakes her head as she feels she isn't worst then Madison, she leaves the ring with Monica beside her, this possibly being a wake up call for her going forwards with her career.
Madison raises her arms in the air as she poses at each side of the ring, her coaching team will know she still is a rough diamond right now, she showed she can survive under pressure and come back out of it a winner tonight.
Stepping out the ring together, the Lookout stable will be hoping this is a great sign for their future this decade, with a young fighter like Madison on their roster going forwards. |
