Ann-Kathrin Brommel vs Tatiana Dieteman

BEFORE: Ann-Kathrin Brommel was ready to take BBU by storm when she was introduced as the Black Eagles' lightweight leader but a couple of tough losses to Mathilde Gohler and Amy Willerton set her back last season. She goes up against an unproven fellow model Tatiana Dieteman tonight and this fight should allow her to find her winning mojo back according to BBU TV's Charlie Webster. Dieteman got thoroughly outpunched by Melissa Satta on her debut twelve months ago but is poised for a much better showing versus a genuine lightweight rather than a welterweight tweener. This being said, the Brommel support here in Cologne makes the California-born blonde look a little scared of the opportunity before the fight.

Ann-Kathrin Brommel wears a beige bandeau bikini and red gloves. Dark blonde hair loose & straight. Tatiana Dieteman wears a black bandeau bikini and blue gloves. Long blonde hair in loose waves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Ann-Kathrin takes advantage of the American's half-hearted approach and whacks her straight up the middle before a steady jabbing rush sends Tatiana into defensive circles. She tries to loop some response from behind the guard but the pressure quickly mounts here as she gets picked off from point-blank range with Brommel raining punches all over her guard. Eventually Dieteman can't escape the ropes and soaks up more blows to the body as Ann-Kathrin switches her targets to avoid the desperate earmuff. She drills the younger blonde's midsection and drops her into extended spasms that are only toppled by the wild noise from the audience! Brommel hammers it all in while Dieteman simply tries to gather her thoughts and Charlie Webster reckons the US tourist is lucky to hang on for so long here. Bell halts the German's charge but she tells her rival to buckle up for another ride in the next round!

Round 2:
Tatiana tries to beat the older model to the punch but eats a crushing uppercut on the jaw instead and wobbles to her heels which allows Ann-Kathrin to smack her with more drilling jabs up the alley. The local favorite really steps it up now and picks off the seemingly stunned foe with more vicious punches that shatter the guard and send Dieteman into more anguished spasms. She tries to brawl herself into safety but gets beaten punch-for-punch during a wild stretch in the center of the ring before a another cruel hook pierces her solar plexus AND FOLDS HER ONTO HER KNEES!!! Ugh! That was quick work from the otherwise fast-paced blonde and Tatiana tries oh-so hard to keep the tough look on her face once she beats the count at seven. Alas Brommel is all over here within seconds again and pounds her back to the ropes where she intends to take her head off now! She misses with a couple of clean shots though and gets whacked across the lips with Dieteman rallying back in last hurrah fashion. She nails the German with another quick swing and powers ahead with a brutal hook on the jaw that rattles Ann-Kathrin into a retreat. Ugh! That wasn't in Gina Wild's script at all and the bell soon prevents more American joy here as Dieteman suddenly became very competitive when everyone had her written off - Charlie Webster included.

Round 3:
Will the promising final stretch result in a quick Dieteman turnaround now? She sure has it all lined-up as she blasts through Brommel's high guard and begins to rock her head back & forth while running from the front. The older model misses a couple of clear shots and bends to the side before recovering into a clinch as Tatiana struggles to mount a proper rally and allows the fellow blonde to drag her into a wrestling contest. Referee eventually separates them and Brommel pounces on the exposed ribcage to catch the California girl napping. Another close range tangle enuses with both women blasting each other off with single punches until Ann-Kathrin pierces the liver area and makes Dieteman groan in pain. The American fails to land a cross-hook before she catches a left overhand straight-on and sinks on jelly knees... her guard drops as well and Brommel hauls in a bone-breaker that sends the gumshield flying off AND DIETEMAN DROPS TO HER BUM amid another wild cheer from the audience. Ugh! This time it looks more serious as the tourist got slammed right on the nose. She gets up at eight and nods back to the ref but Brommel won't allow her to recover anymore and just pounds on instant pressure to stack her in the corner where she punishes her midsection again and leaves her gasping in pain come the bell.

Round 4:
Tatiana has shown a lot of heart here but also soaked up plenty of leather abuse and it only gets worse early in the fourth when the charging Brommel wraps her in another jabbing frenzy upstairs before piercing her mitts to connect with the jugs. Dieteman's response bounces off the top of Ann's shoulder and she gets nailed with another hook on the nose that finally spills some blood. And that's game over for the American who bellows out into loud spasms while Brommel pummels her butt-in-ropes and resumes the head-hunting drill with Tatiana unable to respond and sinking on jelly knees with every punch. Ann-Kathrin reigns supreme now and FORCES THE REF TO STEP IN before the California blonde suffers a serious injury to her damaged nose. TKO4 Ann-Kathrin Brommel!!!

AFTER: That's exactly what the Black Eagles needed here to reboot their lightweight ambitions and Ann-Kathrin is actually upset she wasn't allowed to knock Dieteman's lights out! However any fighter's well-being becomes more important and allthough Tatiana tries to sell her brave face again when the verdict is announced, she simply couldn't risk a lenghty spell on the sidelines if her nose had been busted up for another minute or two. Ann-Kathrin was in full destruction mode by the time the ref stopped the fight and even Charlie Webster is thankful for this outcome.

The big question remains, can the German stunner actually return into serious contendership in the foreseeable future. Beating those free agent Instagram wonders can boost one's confidence but it won't impress the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio. Gina Wild refuses to address Ann-Kathrin's immediate plans so we might see her headline more Cologne-based cards for quite some time yet!

Meanwhile Tatiana ought to browse the free agency pool to find a suitable opponent she can actually dominate. She looked really good when she fended off the initial Brommel blaze following the first knockdown but simply couldn't explore any of the German's weaknesses and that's where a real coaching help becomes the key. She has tools to become a solid journeywoman but for now she remains in the 'unproven' category that could tease more sharks into feeding on her potential.
