Eyren:
(5’5, BBU Debut, Free Agent)

BEFORE:

Fresh off a win over former Flyweight champion, Tiffany Mulheron, in the recent Contender Six Tournament, Diana Korkunova might not have come in first place, but she might as well have won the tourney, by the positivity she’s showing. Beating a former champion, standing toe-to-toe with the best and then going the distance in that fight certainly enabled the Siren to feel proud of herself. She’s been offered sponsorship deals ranging from Nike to Victoria’s Secret, so the sky’s the limit for this tiny terror. To hear it from Diana’s mouth herself, however, it’s all part of her good fortune:

“I can’t explain it. I just pushed myself. But I count myself lucky for even being considered for this tournament and to fight among the best. Tonight though, my eyes are set on moving forward,” the brunette beams at reporters confidently.

Her opponent tonight another pixie-like figure (it’s not often you find established models at this height). French by birth, she’s done modeling for a myriad of magazines and fashion spreads, and to be honest we think she’s a perfect match for Korkunova tonight.

“Congrats to Diana for making it through the tournament,” the Frenchwoman says with a smile. “But I look at Diana’s win-loss record and that gives me hope that I have a chance to win tonight. She’s unpredictable and erratic. And like she said, luck can go both ways.”

Fighting words from both girls as they meet at center podium and pose with their fists turned upwards as they face each other. Diana in sleek black satin bra and panties, whereas Eyren in white sports bra and black bikini briefs. Later in the ring, there’s an excitement in the air as they bump fists when instructed to, but everyone else knows how either girl REALLY feels. Here we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:

Rookie takes a beating good and early as the more established fighter makes the best of her seasoned advantage. Diana storming forward early on, crowding out Eyren’s work space and pressuring her constantly with jabs and swings. Eyren taking a beating to her guard but it’s clear the rookie has had some training in the ring as she tries to weather this. Will it be enough to ward off all the bad luck though? Rest of the round suggests otherwise: Powell pummeled in the belly more than once as Diana starts pestering the body with straight punches, actually smirking from the repeated blows landing as she reassures herself that this fight might be over before lunchtime. Eyren left breathing hard on the ropes when the bell rings, not quite sure what she’s gotten herself into this time round, but hey, at least she still standing. Let’s see whether she has any bite of her own in the next.

ROUND 2:

More hounding in the opening of the second as Diana hopes to keep up the pace and pressure. But she’s finding Eyren more of a moving target as the Frenchwoman tries to get as much space in between them as possible. Diana not complaining - points in her corner are points in her corner, and with Eyren only punching back occasionally, the Siren expects to take this round clean as well. That is… until the final minute, with both girls mid-way swaying to and fro in the center of the ring. Diana tries to take her head off with the usual jab jab HOOK combo, but is surprised when her opponent doesn’t retreat like last time, instead absorbing the shots on her guard and then DUCKING under the hook at the last moment. TOO LATE for Diana’s reaction - an uppercut CUTS hard into the tip of her chin as Eyren brings her right hand back up with her a twist of her body. UGHH. Diana’s head snaps up and it throws her backwards in disarray. She’s stunned just like that! Bell saves her, however, preventing Eyren from rushing forward to finish. What an ending to that round, though we’re not sure whether it was just beginner’s luck for one lady.

ROUND 3:

Diana not willing (or able) to play those same tricks again, that last number really making her reevaluate her all-or-nothing strategy here. That leaves Eyren to make the first move as aggressor - she advances, jabbing tentatively, feet shuffling side to side, waiting for the opening. Diana in defensive mode, doing the same with her limbs but just not willing to risk another sudden assault. Eyren planting jab after jab into the pretty girl’s face as a result, and towards the middle of the round Diana seems to say ‘screw this’ and BANG right back. The girls squeal as they trade punches to the face one after another, trying to disfigure the other in close quarters. Not a good strategy for either girl, but in this case at least Korkunova having the advantage of being in this case before. The Mongolian Wonder stunning the Frenchwoman with a pair of double uppercuts, one landing square on the belly, the other paying her back with a WOOSH upwards into the jawline! Eyren grunting as she’s the one sent flying back, eyes in a daze. Bell rings and the girls are effectively drawn - testimony to the powers of an even match-up, in our opinion!

ROUND 4:

Eyren still shaking those stars (and throbbing pain) from her jawline, but credit to her for advancing as though nothing’s the matter. Diana feints exhaustion at the beginning, staying at the fringes with token jabs in order to lure her opponent into a false sense of superiority. Poor rookie takes the bait, starts picking up the pace and advancing on Diana, jabbing continuously at her guard and even throwing some straight hands into the tummy… until SWOOSH - her head swivelled left by a nasty hook to the face! Diana stepping in to disrupt movement, getting into Eyren’s face completely disorients her for a second, and it’s enough for Diana to take ANOTHER swipe at her face, rotating her to the other side. Eyren almost flying off her feet, her mouth and eyes open in shock. A THIRD uppercut into the chin and SHE CRUMPLES RIGHT DOWN!! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Diana in the first minute of the fourth! IS THIS IT??

Eyren powerless as she tries to recover, crawling on her belly, eyeing the ropes in the distance. Diana with a half look of concern, half pride, making her way back to neutral corner to expect the inevitable. Some brilliant strategy there to lure Eyren in, but critics say a seasoned warrior would never have taken the bait anyhow. Referee reaches the count of 8 and Eyren’s still pulling herself up by the ropes. She makes it back up at 9!

Referee does a last check on her status and waves for the match to continue! Two minutes left on the clock but Diana Korkunova ALREADY knows this, comes FLYING out of her corner once the bell rings and starts POUNDING on Eyren’s beaten frame. The French lady simply absorbs shot after shot on the ropes... there’s no fight left in her eyes, her guard barely held up to defend herself. Referee sees this as well and after the fifth such SHOT up into her belly, deep groan uttered from her lips and her eyes fluttering up into unconsciousness, he CALLS IT OFF!

Official Decision: Diana Korkunova defeats Eyren Powell via TKO4!

AFTER:

A convincing win for Diana tonight, taking apart her opponent in the span of four rounds. But what does it say about her CHOICE of opponent? Critics already panning her for choosing someone who’s not her size, metaphorically speaking. Time will tell what else these tiny terrors will have up their sleeves, but judging from that beaming smile and exuberant wave at her fans in the audience, Diana’s in no hurry to prove anything to anyone.
